The white walled room was his least favorite of all places. It was small, and void of anything of interest. Deep gouges were set along the walls progressing high as the sole inhabitant of the room grew. I killed him to be caged as such, but even more so to know that some how, despite how much he fought, he was helping the people who kept him caged.

From his Perch up on the bed Jay could hear the guards strut down the hall, likely to fetch him for some sort of training. Sure enough a moment later two armed guards swung the door in. "get up." they said, voices hollow. They didn't expect him to listen, rightfully so. "now" one of them added after Jay gave no sign of getting up. He glared at them, sizing them up, looking for a weak spot in their attire. Finding no such spot he begrudgingly stepped off the bed and approached. "I'm going to kill you one of theses days you know?" he chided, his eyes meeting the taller of the guard's. They weren't fazed, he hadn't killed anyone yet.

What came next was the usual for Jay. He approached the guards, they reached out to grab a hold of him. He made a grab for the one of the guns hanging on their side. There'd be a small fight as he struggled to get the gun off one. The other would come to the rescue, pulling him off, then bind his hands behind his back. Then the two would push him along to where ever they needed him to be. Today it was a dark room.

Inside the four white walls was another demi, holding her tail in her hands. His pale yellow eyes stared at her, as though trying to decide weather she was real or not.

"who are you?" He said, still full of scorn that he'd been bothered so they could toss him in a smaller room with another person.

Day 2 (305 days ago.)
07:30 a.m.
Around Atlantic city, New Jersersy

The choppy Atlantic waves had grown more fierce since the small boat had ventured into its depths, now rocking the hull mercilessly in an attempt to swallow the ship. The salt on the ocean breeze seeped through the crack under the only door of the S.S.Lewis bringing with it, perhaps, the spirit of the ocean. The ship gave a great heave against another wave, threatening to tip over, to allow the ocean its victory. Empty beakers lining the walls came crashing to the floor, a sound much like the crashing of waves in Philadelphia bay.

Olive shot up. "'m 'wake!!" she said halfheartedly before remembering she was also alone. Her tired eyes fell on the broken glass that littered the floor, then on her watch.

7:30

She had set out at 3:00 earlier that afternoon to collect data on the rapidly decreasing amounts of cyanobacteria in the waters, and she was to be back by 6:00.

"well i'm already late," she sighed to herself "Might as well take a break before i go back and get fired".

She had planned on quieting anyway, New Jersey was to far away from Philidelphia to be economical, and the pay was already awful. Working at the zoo would be better, but that was only an option after she got her degree.
She sat back down in her lab chair, leaving the glass for whoever was going to have the boat next, she was pretty much fired anyway. She slipped her phone from her pocket and began checking texts, she had several. The first was from her dad;

"Olly some things came up in Philly and I'll be down there stay put and don't open the door or go outside theres been an attack stay safe love you" (6:00 P.M.)

"well," she whispered out loud, typing as she did "I'm kinda in the middle of the Atlantic. I'm fine". Looking over it once, she hit send and moved on. The next was a little more surprising than the first;

"SMOOTHIE KING: Rainy day special. Buy 1 get 1 free, today only!"(9:55 P.M.)

She starred confused at the time for a second then shoving her phone back in her pocket she rushed to the door throwing it open into the morning ocean haze. "shit" she blurrted out, imagining how much trouble shed be in for accidentally stealing the company boat. Looking around she realized she couldn't see the shore either. "how far have i drifted...".

Lucky for her not that far. After setting the boat back towards the west, Olive returned to the comfort of the small lab to check the remainder of her texts. All of them were from her girlfriend who was terrified by the attacks her dad had mentioned, rightfully so as she was in the midst of Philadelphia. Olive assured her that she'd be there soon, basically repeating what her dad had told her.

9:26

Olive checked the time as soon as she docked. Then headed deeper into the coastal town to find a taxi.
The buildings loomed tall and dark, shut tight as though the cold air was suddenly contagious, no one walked the streets. Olive edged on, looking for anyone in cars or signs of life from inside smaller shops, but the town was vacant. Nobody in cars, nobody in houses. It was as though everyone got up and left. Turning the corner she noticed a old man, lying face down in the road, likely dead. Blood seeped from underneath of him, mixing with the wet gravel below. Mortified but curious she went to get a closer look. As she edged closer it became more apparent that despite gruesome injuries the man was still, somehow, alive and conscious.

"Sir...Sir are you alright" she cooed, holding back several feet. "sir?"

he shuddered, moving his arm slowly underneath himself.

"Sir what happened, where is everyone?" She continued, not daring to come any closer for fear of hurting him more.

He raised himself onto his knees and slowly turned his head towards her. His pale beaten face showed no sighs of comprehension. His eyes were glazed over with death. He made a gurgling sound from behind his broken jaw, sputtering blood.
Olive didn't stay after that, she ran. Checking cars for one that was unlocked quickly as she could, for the old man was following slowly behind her. After three or four cars she came across an unlocked sedan, the keys sitting in the drivers side cup holder. Glad for the lucky break she turned the keys in the ignition and set off for Philidelphia leaving the creepy old man behind.

Day 307 (Present days.)
11:13 a.m.
Mess Hall, The Army Base, Pennsylvania

Olive sat at one of the quieter tables, the one with people who'd lost someone who'd meant the world, the empty people. She knew death as well, everyone did these days, but she didn't know it like the ghosts of people who she sat with. Compared to them she must have seemed like a cheerful ray of sunshine and happiness. She wasn't there to brighten up old peoples day though, she was there for the heavy silence so she could concentrate. A spiral bound notebook lay open in front of her, it's visible page decorated with notes of behavior and sketches of the newest victim she'd seen; a small women with half of her face gone. "no, not a women," Olive thought to herself as she finished the sunken eyes of the dead women, "just a dead thing, just a sick dead body, not a person". She looked up from her beautiful, horrible drawing.

The ghosts were looking back, expectantly or perhaps in fear, it was the same face either way. Their empty stares sad and then fleeting before she could say anything. She'd probably whispered what she had been thinking, which would've been saying to much to them as it was. She returned to her notebook, starting to jot down the attributes of the newest entry. Mostly mundane things, "Reacts to sound" and "seems to have poor vision" and "her fucking face was torn off everywhere below her nose Why was She still Moving?? Why Wasnt She DEAD????". Olive stopped at that, starring at the last sentence before scribbling it out and shutting her notebook and leaving.

"I suppose ambition in itself isn't a bad thing, it all depends what you do with it in the end. The same goes for being smart or brave, doesn't it?...Do you know a lot about magic already?I've read a few things, but I'm kinda scared about using it, really." Said lavender shortly followed by Anna's
"I've never had an experience with magic..."

Brynn looked over at Lavender,"Don't forget about diligence and kindness, except not a lot of bad will come out of those. Anyway, I read through the book of spells but that's about it as far as magic experience I've had. A whole half of my family is a wizard, even though it's only my mom and me, I still count as half!" She managed to blurt out before noticing, Lavender wasn't talking to her, nor even looking any-where in the compartment. Brynn followed her gaze out the window, noticing that the train had started, and that they were already pretty far out of the station. "hey we're moving that's neat, I wonder if the train is magic. she continued, tripping into another topic.
Really she was very interested in each of the different things, there were just so many of them that she had a hard time staying focused on just one. She'd never been on a train before, but she'd also never seen any real magic, or known anything about real wizards.
Thinking it rude to change topics, she began chattering again. "so um, Isaak, can you do any magic? I mean you probably can, but could you actually show us magic, like right now," She beamed at him, a chance to see magic was so great, at the moment it seemed like a once in a life time opportunity. The opportunity was of course not all about seeing any form of magic, there was bound be plenty of that very shortly, the grandness of it rest in the fact that magic was still a brand new thing that Brynn had never seen up close before.

She stared at him for a moment as he addressed Lavender. "Um, wow, yeah I guess if Merlin was a Slytherin they're probably pretty cool. You do actually have a very pretty ferret, in some places in the world there's a sport called ferret-legging where you put two live ferrets in your trousers until you can't stand it anymore, cause they scratch and bite, i read about it once." she said just as cheerfully as before then turned to Lavender. "Did you know that they deliver the mail by owl in the wizarding world? I wonder if your owl can do that. I've got a frog, but that's okay he's a really good frog." She exclaimed, evidently moving on from the topic of Hogwarts houses. Then turning to Isaak again she continued "Whats it like living in the wizarding world, I think your the only one here who really has any experience with magic really".

She'd had every hope that between the compliment and the cool fact about ferrets Isaak would forget that she'd ever even said anything even the slightest bit derogatory towards his family's house. Really she didn't think anything bad about Slytherin, nor had she connected before that many dark wizards had come from that house, she'd more of skimmed over those parts. She had never felt particularly inclined to be part of Slytherin, as she did for Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

@Weird Tales@Dutchess Sarah@SouffleGirl123
"...I'll be heading to Slytherin, just like the rest of my family..." Isaak said @Weird Tales
Brynn tried for a moment to recall about Slytherin, it had certainly come up a lot in one of the books, though the Slytherin founder, nor any of his successors, had really seem all that nice. The other three houses seem as though they were the more stable of the four founders. She Especially like Huffelpuff, hardworking and kind, they certainly seemed like they'd have been the greatest house yet Huffelpuffs were hardly mentioned at all. Perhaps that was just a twisted perspective or a mistake by the author.

"Not to be rude, but I don't really think we'll be in the same house, that is if you end up in Slytherin...I think I'd like to be in Huffelpuff. Ravenclaw sounded nice um, Griffindor sounded okay too. Really I don't think I'll care which house i get...except maybe Slytherin." She paused for a moment as though she were finished talking, and just as suddenly continued on realizing that what she had said so far might sound rude without more of an explanation.
"But! The..the hat or something like that picks. Anyway, it's anonymously chosen what house you get, so i'm not saying Slytherin is bad or anything!" She rambled on, trying not to offend him, finally deciding to switch topics. "But uhm, what about your family. You said they're pure-blood so does that mean you live with all kinds of magic around you all the time?"

@SouffleGirl123
"This is Felix and yeah, you can call me Anna," @SouffleGirl123.
After a short pause Brynn looked away from the ferret and refocused on the other humans in the cart. With a smile she began chittering again.
"Are you all new to the wizard thing right? I thought it was pretty cool that they're real when i got my letter. According to Hogwarts a History Wizards have been delivering mail by owl for a really long time, isn't that neat!". She looked around at the many faces hoping this didn't seem rude. It was true, she hadn't known a thing about wizards before the letter, and she thought the thing about owls was really amazing. Really she had thought everything in all of the books she'd read for Hogwarts, which was all of them except the one for potions and transfiguration. Shed even tried a few of the spells from one of the books, though few of them had worked.
