This seems really cool, and I'd love to make up a character. Just one question; what do you mean by main character & side character? Sorry if that's a silly question :0c
Oliver perked up. It was Mason, a good friend of his from the years before. Late but here none the less. Oliver smiled before retorting "You didn't miss anything except the food, Mckelly has the same speech every year. They canceled Plants this years, it's lumped in with potions isn't that great, we only have one worthless class instead of two!". He was rather pleased with this remark, it was what he felt most people thought. He also had happened to nearly pass both the year before, only having one would be much easier to deal with.
"by the way," He continued, gesturing to his other table mates,"This is Finn and Eliza, I dunno if you knew them or not," He grinned. He had a good prospect for the year ahead, and seeing all his friends had only reaffirmed that ideal.
I just need to find a theme song, in the mean time anything I need to change/ can make better :>
"Oh, I'm just visiting."
~Mathew Cartelle
~General Information~
Name: Mathew Cartelle Nick-Names: Matt Sex/ Gender: male Age: 19 Place Of Origin: St. Genevieve, MO Camp Cabin: 15
Appearance: Tall and thin and every bit unbefitting of his own name as one could be. His Red hair and sharp facial features contradict any form of modern ideals of handsomeness even before the glasses. His unmatching eyes add a sense of unrealness to his already strange appearance. His attire is usually a simple t-shirt paired with jeans and a black coat when it gets colder, never anything particularly fancy. Years Old: 19
~Relationship Information~
Relationship Status: Single Sexuality:Bisexual Partner: None Godly Parent: Morpheus Human Parent: Angela Mary Cartelle Siblings: Nichole Esstelle Cartelle - 5 - Half-sister Legacy: nemisis Pet: none Other:
~Personal Information~
Personality: Mathew is considerably happier around people he likes, though he occasionally feels as though he isn't as important to others as they are to him. He tries to better himself often though somehow always ends up failing or giving up at accomplishing his goals. He spends a lot of time day dreaming and spacing out, often making him feel bad when around others as he just can't focus. He is self conscious about his appearance and his self in general.
Skills: A good public speaker as well as a beautiful author and mediocre artist. Mathew can play ode to joy on the piano but nothing else.
Biography: Angela Cartelle was a dreamer, no body would deny that. She was an artist as well, this was the debatable fact for her talent with abstract was becoming less popular, especially considering elephants and infants wore the cloak of abstract artist better. This never dettered her though, she was a master after all. After years of personal improvment and more years of art school she was well versed in realism, landscapes, concepts and everything in between. She dreamed of all the world she had never seen and what she would paint next as well as a unique looking man who she wished one day to call her own.
Angela painted him for years, creating masterpieces of the dream man relating him to every form of mythical humanoid she could muster. He was her muse. And one day, he showed up. Nichole and her mysterious dream man lived happily, or so she tells it years down the line when her son is old enough to understand. He was the best thing that could have happened for her, he just had other things to do. Angela claims he is still in her dreams sometimes though less and less as the years go by.
Mathew, as a child, never met his father. He grew up with a women he could've sworn was delusional. She thought he was coming back, her painting showed as much. Mathew never seemed out of the ordinary, though he slept more soundly than most babies and children. He never had a bad dream and as his mother will tell, he was an imaginative little kid and a daydreamer. Mathew flew through younger life, none of it sticking with him until first grade.
He was a popular child, this Mathew can tell you himself. He was never good at reading or math but he could captivate an audience with ease. When he told stories of dragons and faeries and every manner of beast from his mothers painting, he did so with such color everyone listening could swear they could see it. His creativness and willingness to share such ideas gave him friends and this was worth so much more than grades for him.
As he grew older, his friends drifted to other people. No body wanted to hear stories about princess any more they wanted the grit and the gruesomeness that would prepare them for life. They wanted a friend who wasn't ugly and stupid. So by middle school Mathew was ugly stupid and friendless. He wrote in his spare time, handwriting neater than the girls his age so he could at least keep his own thoughts with him. He still had his mom too, though she was slowing down from years of waiting for someone who will never come. She didn't paint him anymore.
Highschool brought even more conflict and how Mathew even managed to survive is beyond even him. Really between the monsters that started showing up in real life and the bullying he aught to have died. For the most part he learned to throw rocks at their faces and run. There were days when he came home to the loft, face bruised and cut and he'd have to get cleaned up before his mother came home or else stay in his room. These were the days where he felt the worst, like nothing fit anymore because he had dreams and ambitions and nothing seemed to be coming together.
One summer his junior year, his mother came into his room, catching a glimpse of a bruised shoulder but what does a mother even do. She had come to tell him of a camp for people like him, strange or not, and so she did that. With as much comforting as she could muster she had told him everything would work out.
That summer, his first summer at camp-halfblood, was the best thing he'd experienced to that point. He finally felt like he belonged and had friends and everything was finally making sense. The next few years went by in a similar fashion as the first going between camp and home. Switching schools often and having only a few friends. At least he was finally happy.
~Demigod Information~
Demigod Abilities: Manipulate sleep: Mathew can manipulate sleep, though he finds it difficult to do so to most people. He could put an individual to sleep or into a coma, as well as manipulate the intensity of sleep. This power isn't very strong with him and he has problems using it on anyone who isn't already tiered or easily manipulable at the time.
Manipulate dreams: When people are sleeping Mathew finds it easy to alter or suggest what they might dream of; for better or worse. He has used this to give his younger sister pleasant dreams, as well as his mother and inadvertently himself.
~Weaponry Information~
Mathew has never been particularly good in combat. When he intends to fight he tends to stay further back and shoot of throw things or simply cause hallucinations or else flee.
Weapon: Throwing daggers or rocks if there is neither of the other two. Weapon Name: None Weapon Type: Ranged/ Thrown Attributes: None
Thin black wrought iron blades, shaped for throwing. Hand made at Camp-Halfblood
That's a neat idea, Permits. I think as far as dragons go they'd be illegal considering how hard they'd be to hide. Other magical things like threstals and blast ended shrewts would probably be things that wizards would need a license for. I think there will probably some of those sort of creatures in the lake (like grindlyows) but no mermaids!
New cannon stuff for this rp -I'm keeping mermaids and goblins in Europe, America has dwarves witch are in the same sort of boat as goblins and function in a similar way -North america has more house elves than Europe, though European house elves often find the American house elf ways disgusting and improper(that is if they knew about America). -The ceiling of the dining hall has painted angels and what not and they do move and stuff -wizards need permits to keep dangerous and exotic pets, this could be a job choice for your character if you wanna be more indepth
The Dining hall had now filled with students, many of them first and second years. Suddenly the bright light dimmed to an ocean blue, illuminating the ceiling that was now filled with paintings of angels and cherubs who were all at attention to the speaker. She was an elderly women stout and dressed in an old fashioned type of robe that had frills and cuffs accompanied by an ancient witches hat adorned with feathers. This as every knew by now was Headmistress Geneva McKelly. She positively beamed today as she stood in front of the staff table ready to make the first announcement of the year.
"Students," she began, unmistakably in charge and impossible to speak over "Welcome first years to RiverWing, and welcome back all else. I hope we are all prepared for another wonderful year. Classes as always will begin tomorrow morning at seven a.m. sharp, for today you may unpack and meet with your teacher and generally become re-acquainted at you home for the next few months." She paused for a moment collecting herself. "I would like to remind everyone that harassing Hilda is prohibited and just as punishable as bullying living students. Additionally swimming in the lake is not aloud without teacher supervision. Quiditch will be available again this year sign up with professor Oaklin He will be available all today. And lastly," She paused once again, though this time for dramatic effect "Enjoy the feast."
As the elderly women went to sit down plates filled with every manner of breakfast and lunch type foods. pitchers filled with juices and milk and water even tea and coffee. The room filled with the gasps of amazed and astounded first years before everyone began digging in.
Oliver Rivers
Oliver had seen all the magic that went into the making of Headmistress McKelly's introduction 7 times before and so by this time it had lost quite a bit of it's original pzazz. Yes it was cool that she could change fires color all around a room, but honestly someone else probably did that. As for the food it was delicious as always, he knew as he had started scarfing down pastries, but even they lacked any mystery. It all came down to house elves in the end, their were at least one hundred of them at Riverwing if not more. Really he was just glad for the distraction Mckelly had provided, none of what she had said was any different from the years before. Quiditch had never interested him as much as quadpot and even that didn't hold his attention for long.
He made a note to himself to check if Vaness was in the owlery, sometimes she went their when she couldn't find his dorm and it never turned out well between her and the owls. Aside from that he just needed to practice his animagus transforming. Turning back to human for was the only part he still hadn't mastered.
I'm going to make a post starting the feast(more of a brunch really) tomorrow so if anyone wants to say something before that happens they need to do it soon :>
Oliver beamed. His friends were great, and Finn didn't seem offended at all. Taking up Eliza's question he began to ramble again. "I found this cute coffee place with really nice muggles and this one was kinda, i mean the coffee was hot." He left off in nervous laughter. He'd forgotten all about Mathew at the coffee place. He was the literal actual worst. Oliver vowed to himself that he'd never go back to that coffee place ever again, or anywhere near it for that matter. On top of that the cloaks defiantly were wrong; muggles and wizards needed to stay out of each others hair.
With a fake grin he turned to Eliza "But uh, yeah, Liz, what about you and your summer?".
Oliver wasn't really paying that much attention, he cared about what they thought, but he also still felt bad for accidentally ditching poor stupid muggle Mathew, and for goofing off up until this year, and for all the goofing off he'd still do this year. This was his last year at RiverWing, he had done well grade wise so far, and he was going to have his animagus exam in a week or so and there was just so much going on now that he had a chance to think about it. It sucked, he wished things were easier.
@Crazy Doctor No problem, just make sure to end up in the dining hall, maybe talk to some kids (I posted the minimum requirements earlier in the ooc) :>
@Always That's the spirit, as long as you're having fun! (honestly your first bit was about the right length for a minimum post ;>) d_(* v *)_b
