Allow me to expand upon that idea. Bars are frequented by 'doomsayers' in these types of tales - men or women who let slip a vital fragment of knowledge that they were sworn to keep, or those who spread rumours and bring word from other nations and provinces in exchange for a drink to slake their thirst, or a man raving about the nearing apocalypse. Our characters, all of whom seem to be the type to either frequent bars, look for work, or mayhaps get lost whilst out of their element, could be situated in the bar, or within earshot.
Once the doomsayer says their piece, they up and leave in order to find another watering hole. One by one, or perhaps all at once, our characters realise that what they said could be important, and begin pursuit of whatever is required - assembling at a location in order to be recruited, chasing after the doomsayer or looking for a particular person, or finding a poster of some sort which would lead to one of the former two. Since they have a common target, it is likely that they would all convene at some point, be it at one point or another.
