and begin conflict!
"I can... get up by myself, thanks," she said, standing up and dusting herself off.

She had heard the voice too. So it looks like there were more people here than previously expected. The first thing to do was to find out what had happened to them.

"Did you... get access to the secret link as well?" she asked of the other boy. it was then that she noticed the floating text above the boy's head.

Lv1 Patreoneux

Lauren didn't know how she'd missed it before.

"Patreoneux, huh... Well, for now, I think we should find a way out of-"

drip

Oh what the fuck, something wet had landed on her head.

"The hell, is it raining or something..." she said, lifting her head up while bringing her hand to the wet spot.

Her eyes met the glowing red ones in the window at about the same time she realized the liquid on her head was too sticky to be water.

And with a howl, the feral wolf leapt from the window and landed on the floor in front of them. Lauren screamed.
At about the same time, just outside a terribly small room, there was a loud bang on the door.

Once...

Twice...

And with the third strike, a crude, spiked club crashed through the door.

A long, sickly arm reached through the hole and felt around the rubble blocking it.
Alright, so, points:

  1. Shiinen: Eika wouldn't have potions in her inventory. No one would. Trust me, she shouldn't need them. This is the tutorial dungeon after all.

  2. I've made a small change to the basic class system. Nothing that requires a change; I've just made the weapon selections a bit less restrictive.

  3. We need to establish friendships in this mofo. If you have Skype, hit me up. My username is CondorTalon (please put your skype name in this thread before adding me ;_;).

It was hard to breathe.

Nathan sat up from his prone position, his eyes stinging, trying to process the information around him. It was a lot of green. A sickly shade of green bathed his eyes, and his nose burned slightly. He coughed, trying to stand up. Where the hell was he? He tried to wipe his eyes, to get a clearer picture. There were hills all around him, and dead trees dotted the landscape. The sky was an odd shade of grey. He tried to get a bearing on where he was, but as soon as he took a step, the ground shifted consistency, turning into a muddy slick.

"Augh, what the...?" he said, trying to free his foot from the sludge.

"Move..."

What? What was that voice? What the hell was it-

"Move... You have to get away! Please!"

Nathan looked down at the ground, which began to glow in a circle underneath him.

"Shit... Shit. Shit!" he yelled, desperately lifting his leg up from the mud. After some deliberation he managed to take a few steps backwards, onto solid ground. And just in front of him, the ground erupted as a large thorny vine sprung from the ground with a terrible croaking sound.

Nathan ran, away from the giant strangling thorn. He looked behind him, noticing more glowing circles appearing on the ground. He ran towards a building he had noticed nearby. Making his way inside, he closed the door behind him.

He found himself in a small wooden shack.

"What the hell was that..." he said aloud, to nobody in particular.

"Um... Are... are you okay?"

Nathan jumped, looking around the shack.

"Who's there? What's going on?"

"You're... having a n-nightmare right now... but... this is different. It's scarier. It wants to k-k-kill you..."

"Wait, hold on... kill me? What the hell is... and who are you? Where are you?"

Something suddenly appeared in front. It looked like a floating doll, with long black hair, one star-shaped blue eye, and one teardrop-shaped red eye. Its face was frozen in sadness. It was wearing a Japanese school uniform.

"My name is... Somnia. I... we need each other."

Nathan stared in disbelief.

"I need something... p-precious from you... and then... I'll help you survive."
Lauren didn't move when she heard shouting from far away. She didn't even move when that same voice called out to, presumably, her. It was only when she felt hands on her that she opened her eyes, only to see someone stooping over her, shaking her.

She screamed, kicked, and shuffled back away from the other person until her back was up against a wall. She was breathing heavily, trying to calm herself down. She wasn't scared, she was just surprised is all. Yep. Surprised.

She looked around, getting a better look at her surroundings. It looked like a small temple, or some sort of shrine. The walls were musty and cracked, vines seeping their way through the tiny imperfections of the architecture. Light streamed from overhead, as large windows near the ceiling deposited leaves into the room every so often. On the other side of the room, a huge pair of double doors framed the wall, made of old wood and rusted metal bars.

Next she looked down at her clothes. She was no longer wearing her pajamas. Instead, she was covered in a robe, like the ones mages wore in traditional RPGs. She noticed that there was a short stick, made of polished wood, hanging from her hip. She pulled it out of its strap, taking a look at it.

Wait a minute, does this mean I have...

And right on cue, another floating window popped up, one that only she could see. Indeed it was an inventory screen, showing that what she was holding was an "Old Wood Rod". It didn't look like she had anything else.

She looked back up at the boy.

"Where the hell are we?"
It was dark.

Lauren opened her eyes. Already something was off. Where was her mom? It was like this every year, her mom should have woken her up by now. Looking up, she didn't recognize the ceiling. Her ceiling was a calm shade of beige, but she was currently looking at a blank black space. She sat up, her hand on her head. Looking around, she saw nothing but a black void, even downward.

This definitely was not her room.

She stood up, her feet planted upon the... nothing she was surrounded by. She took a cautious step, just to make sure. And as her foot landed, something popped up in front of her.

Blip. That all it was. That's all that was heard before the blackness in front of her was replaced with a glowing rectangular panel.

Please input your username.

Lauren began to laugh. She laughed harder than she ever remembered laughing in her entire life. This was too much. This was crazy. She laughed for a good five minutes. Maybe more. And as it slowly died down, Lauren smiled at the window.

This is a dream. This has to be. It's just too silly.

Still smiling, she reached toward the panel, and touched it. The text box filled itself out.

KeyLime

Indeed, it was the name she used the most on the Internet. So it would make sense that she'd be thinking about it.

The text on the window changed.

Welcome to ReSet ReaLity! A world in peril needs your help! Join forces with other players to save Espereox! To begin, choose your class type.

At the bottom of the window, there were five buttons. Lauren scanned them. From the left, there was a shield, a sword crossing a dagger, a bow and arrow, a wizard's hat, and a cross. Lauren didn't hesitate, pressing her finger onto the button with the wizard's hat.

The text changed again.

You have chosen the Mage, the basic offensive magical class. Mages work away from the fight, belting the field with spells or summoning creatures to fight for them. At Level 20, the Mage can be promoted to a Sorceror, a Summoner, or a Spellsword.

Are you sure that you want to choose this class?

Hell yes she was sure. She always loved being the magic attacker in MMOs. She was a fan of spectacle, and nothing was flashier than advanced magical abilities. She pressed yes.

Lauren mentally patted herself on the back. Even if this was a dream, it incredibly realistic and super complex. She knew she had a great mind.

Good choice! You will make an excellent mage, I'm sure. You will be given your abilities and be transported to Espereox momentarily.

Her smile widened. She was going to be sad when she eventually woke up, but she might as well enjoy it as much as she-

Her eyes caught motion as, for only a fraction of a second, another message appeared.

This may hurt a bit.

What-

Then pain. An overwhelming pain that enveloped her entire body. Her vision turned white as she screamed in agony. A burning sensation covered her from head to toe and she fell backwards, curling into the fetal position. She squeezed her eyes shut, tears slowly leaking from them as she tried to wake up. A high pitched buzzing pierced her ears, and she began to sob as the blinding light penetrated her eyes.

And then it was over. Just like that. The pain was gone, the bright light no longer bathing her eyes, the high pitched buzzing quickly drowned by the natural sounds of the outside. All told, the pain lasted maybe twenty seconds at the most, but she didn't move from her position, and she didn't open her eyes, not even as the pain subsided.

She should have woken up when the pain started, but she didn't. This wasn't a dream. This was real.
I'll try to get a post up soon, but it's really late right now, so I might not finish it today.

EDIT: Post is up. It turns out that fun and games isn't always fun and games.

EDIT2: For those who want a bit of information on where they find themselves: when the players recover from the pain they'll find themselves to be inside what looks like an abandoned temple. Lauren appeared in the main room, behind an altar, but there are other rooms and hallways that the players can wake up in. The doors leading to the outside of the temple are locked. There are open windows in the main room, but they're high up and unreachable. They'll wake up wearing basic armor for their class, and a basic weapon will be either on their person or nearby.
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
Hmm... yeah, I can't really think of anything that would work around four weeks. I would say I'd find someone to babysit your character, but that's a bit iffy. Sorry about that.
The problem is that permanent death won't be a thing right off the bat; it will happen, but only later on. How long is a while? I'm planning on running this for quite a bit, so if it's not too long we could probably work something out.
