Here's an idea. Instead of being just a veterinarian, you should also be a taxidermist! Either way, your client still gets their dog back!

Howdy~! Im conjito~ If you're interested in roleplaying (Or even just talking to me) Let me know ^.^

Link to my character sheets: roleplayerguild.com/posts/5269911

Ideas for roleplay(s):

1) Isekai roleplay. The protagonist is killed in the real world and then transported into his/her favorite game. This can be a romance.

2) Demon king and mortal. This will be a romance/fantasy. The demon king is sent to earth, in the form of a normal human, to gain whatever. you can choose what he wants. When he gets to earth, he meets a human that he feels a strong connection to. He falls in love, she hates him.

3) Two swordsmen. I have already done a roleplay similar to this with my character Mei. Two swordsmen are sent out to protect something and Muse A ends up falling for Muse B, while Muse B only sees them as a comrade.

@TheFox Sounds amazing~! I'll save him and add him once we start the roleplay~ ^.^
About leveling systems, I have a few notes.

We could do this Zelda-style, where accomplishing major objectives gives unique powers or items. In one story I'm (trying) writing, the main character has a time-travel power that initially lets him reverse time by five seconds once a day. Accomplishing key objectives allows him to improve this power a little, either by letting him go back further in time or do so more often. We could do something similar for the player characters; whichever power they choose for themselves, completing story objectives will let them improve upon it. They could also acquire important items, like a Baneblade or a new form of Plot Armor.

So if people are hesitant to do anything like tabletop gaming, we could use this minimalist system instead. Of course, preparing for it would be difficult without having their character sheets beforehand...

I require a character sheet before starting the roleplay, so that wont be an issue. As far as those mechanics go, I love it! I hadn't thought of doing a zelda type system. Genius~! ^.^
While I mull over the leveling system, I have another question: 18+ content yea or nay? Obviously anything explicit would go to PMs.

There will be 18+ content such as drug use, alcohol, sexual language and foul language. So, yes
@Conejitoooo I would hesitate to say yes, simply because zombies are caused by a curse in this world, but PM me to see if we can work something out.

I can use another character if its too much
It seems to me like adding mechanics would be difficult work for GMs and it would make grinding for OP status more important than actual RPing.

*I'm gonna officially vote against mechanics.*

However, I still like the idea of a shallow aesthetic of an MMO RPG world. Where we can RP as 'levelling up' or getting more experience and higher ranked in guilds. We don't have to make it strict, I mean we're all gonna have plot armour and uniqueness anyway right. It's more about the writing, for me.

I suppose. The idea of having it as an MMO RPG based roleplay was cool, but its really difficult.

In most of my RPs, there've been Haven Towers, which were built to protect civilization from Voidspawn incursions. And in one RP, they acted as a sort of System that created and maintained the rules of magic. So we could definitely implement something like that. But like you said, allowing players to grind would be detrimental to the gameplay experience, so we'll have to figure out a way to limit that.

Damn, it would he detrimental. This is hard ^~^ Im glad you're here to help, though.
I just want to say (seeing as I've unwittingly steered this RP into a tabletop game) I have zero tabletop experience, but I admire DnD from a distance. I would be totally willing to read and learn, if the whole group decides on doing this. But I have no idea, right now, about how any of these systems work.

I was just wondering if the RP would be like Log Horizon or Sword Art Online or something haha.

I'm liking all the enthusiasm though. And I'm willing to go with whatever the group wants.

I really just want to make a roleplay where everyone is comfortable and doesn't have to step too far out their comfort zone, as far as roleplay goes. The tabletop idea is wonderful, but i don't really know how to do tabletop roleplays.
@Conejitoooo
Before that, I think we first need to establish the broader game mechanics it'll operate under. If the players are up for it, we could incorporate some sort of tabletop system. I did some research on the subject a while back, and I think the Anima Prime RPG system would work well for forum-based tabletop gaming. D&D is designed more around movement mechanics, which forum games suck at. There would be a somewhat high barrier for entry, in that whichever game system we decide on (if any) would require players to become familiar with it. So I'm hesitant to use any tabletop system at all unless a majority of players are keen on it.

If we're not using tabletop mechanics, we still have a number of other mechanical decisions to make, like what kinds of skills players can get, how they get them, how combat is resolved, and so on.

I'm not so keen on the tabletop forum, myself. We could try it, if the others would like to. Have some sort of dungeon master, Like DnD. This may be harder than i thought ;^~^ Its worth it, though.
Yeah, I meant what Conejitoooo said; "Trapped in a MMORPG type roleplay" as an aesthetic. Although I would not be opposed to implementing actual level mechanics! That would be a hell of a lot of work for you guys, I imagine, so no problem if we don't go there.

Anyway, I was just asking, I'm not pushing for anything in particular, just trying to understand. I'll probably just wait until everything is finalized and set up, then I'll do my reincarnation. I'll try to fit around others e.g. if there's no healer in the party, I'll build a potential healer, or if there's no every-man for the group, I'll do that. Things like that.

That sounds great! There would've been a healer, but i decided to have my character be someone else. I dont know about everyone else, though.

@Thinslayer In that light novel, they have a sort of "system" or "divine voice". Should we have something similar? Perhaps, one of the players could controll the leveling system? maybe i can? I don't know. Its just an idea. I don't want the players to be leveling their characters up all willy nilly and make themselves op. I want it to be challenging.
@Zool
Ooh, that's a fantastic idea. Leveling mechanics could be compelling if done properly. The light novel "So I'm a Spider, So What?" handled it super well.

Is anybody else interested in leveling mechanics? I know that can be hit-or-miss with this kind of RP.

I knooow~ They did so good? ^.^ perhaps, we could base the leveling mechanics off that light novel?
