Your Saturday starts out as normal as any other: You wake up, eat your first meal of the day, then go about your business as you usually do. Perhaps you have a hair appointment at the mall. Maybe you are spending a day with family. Or possibly you have to pick up laundry from the dry cleaners. Regardless of your plans, there is nothing out of the ordinary that is worth your comment, and so you go on with the day undisturbed.

It isn't until your return home that you notice something is different about that Saturday. As you make your way towards the door of your home, your gaze lands on a sleek black briefcase leaning against its foot, with a laminated tag hanging from its handle, sporting your name in cursive handwriting. Suspicion invades your mind and immediately you turn to look at every corner of your street/hallway/yard to see whether you can't spot the person that had left this strange parcel for you. Of course, there is no one in sight, and so you turn back to it and stare, debating on what your next move would be.

Curiosity wins, as it always does, and soon your hand is closing around the handle to heave the surprisingly light case into your abode. Placing it on your table, you proceed to take the laminated name card in your hand and examine it, finding that there is a four digit code written in small type on the bottom left-hand side, which you then enter in the lock at the top to open the mysterious case. You lift the lid, and inside you find a letter envelope (again bearing your name), a passport, a flight ticket, a key on a ring with a number, and a thick manila envelope. You decide to open the letter first:

Dear (Your name),

Congratulations! You have been chosen as the choice receiver of an all expenses paid trip to the Woll Manor! Located in Sweden, this estate has been passed down from generation to generation, and as part of the Woll family's tradition, has annually selected a lucky few to stay at the luxury home for two weeks.

Enclosed you will find your passport, room key, flight ticket and information, and 5,000 American dollars in cash. Please do not lose any of these, for we will not send replacements. We hope that you will use the money to buy wardrobe and any items you might need for the trip. Be advised that there will be many events hosted in the Grand Hall, and therefore we suggest purchasing plenty of formal wear. We also propose that you buy warmer garments, such as jackets, hats, etc., as there will be plenty of opportunity to wander the grounds. Finally, do not be late for your plane. It is not a private jet, and will leave whether your are on it or not.

We hope you will accept our offer, as we very much look forward to meeting with you.

Sincerely,

Ingrid Olsson
Secretary of Woll Estate

Still reeling from shock, you read the sheet of paper that was hiding behind the letter, which contains your flight information and tells you that your journey begins two days from then. Next you pick up the passport, which you open and see, with another pang of shock, that a picture someone had taken of you only a week or even a few days ago is staring up at you from its little box. Finally, you graze past the key and the ticket, until finally your eyes fall on the manila envelope. Could there really $5,000 in there?

You pick it up and untuck the flap, and indeed there were stacks of hundreds in rubber bands tucked inside. Maybe more than a little freaked out, you replace the contents of the briefcase and do what you do when you are in thought. And so the question hovers in the silence around you;

Do you accept?

Welcome to the OOC of Woll Manor! This post will be periodically updated with information and such, so be sure to check back as the game progresses.

Questions? Comments? Let 'em rip.

I'm still accepting applications if you'd like to submit one, yes!

Update: Gonna get to work on the OOC now - it will most likely be up tonight. Deadline for character submissions will be Thursday night, and I'll choose the cast then. Hopefully that means we can get the game started sometime Friday!
When the young man first spoke up, Adalyn automatically colored his tone with something akin to how the male patron who'd stormed out had spoken to her. This only elicited silence on her part, as she did not want to let slip anything that might earn her father's disapproval. The comment might not have even been remotely belligerent, seeing as he emitted a small chuckle afterwards as if confirming that it wasn't, but the 'being in his business' bit didn't seem too friendly at the moment. Perhaps it was just her pride, slipping in to lick her wounds after the rather embarrassing incident, that made her want to think he was being hostile with her. "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned", and all that. But as he spoke again, this time offering her advice on how to treat the fresh wound, she couldn't deny that he seemed harmless enough.

Although she'd probably never admit it aloud to anyone, especially this unabashed stranger, she did quite like the attention that he seemed determined to give her. Ada had felt his eyes on her as she cleaned the mess, and whether it was consciously or unconsciously, she had taken her time of it and left the cutlery under his seat until she was nearly finished for a reason. Maybe it was because she seemed to be getting less and less consideration these past few weeks, or maybe it was because (deny it as she might) he was nice to look at, and she was simply being a little selfish. Regardless, as he smiled at her, she felt an inexplicable push to do the same. Finally looking up at him, she did so, albeit forming one much smaller and less warm than his, but it was a smile, nonetheless.

"That would be a good idea," she said in reply with a soft chuckle under her breath as she took a clean corner of the rag she had used and wrapped it around her thumb, holding it in place with her other fingers as she scooped the offending pieces of glass onto the tray along with the silverware that had initiated the entire encounter. She picked herself up off the ground and, feeling a bit sheepish for her unnecessary aggression now that her head was a little clearer, turned the subtlest shade of pink as she bent down and picked up her tray. "Thank you. And again, apologies, er, for the interruption."

The girl's eyes flickered for a moment towards the rest of the seats at his table, as if looking to see if he'd come in with anyone. Deciding that he looked to be in no other company, she hiked up the tray against her hip and spoke again. "Is anyone helping you?" she asked curiously, half for his sake and half for her own selfish reasons. Somehow she was sort of reluctant to leave him just yet, and thought that extending her duties to the cafe for once wouldn't be such a bad thing. "Or were you wanting something? I can put in the order, if you'd like?" Everyone around them had gone back to their business, except for a few behind the counter that were still throwing occasional glances her way, and her father, who was doing the same.
Mm, I imagine it'd look like this? Surrounded by wood and a small lake/stream somewhere nearby.

It was hard watching the woman finally notice her appearance, immediately attempting to scrub off the dried blood from her hands in silence - though Katherine was sure her mind was reeling with justifications. She made sure to turn her head away to give privacy as Jessica staggered to the other wall and heaved up what words could not express. The gagging seemed so out of place in the auto shop, having nothing to do with a stomach virus or a bad night of drinking. Only when she heard the other begin speaking again did Kat pull herself from her reverie, tearing her distant gaze from the large tire jack resting a few feet from her.

The stink of the vomit quickly permeated the air within the room and Kat couldn't help but furrow her brows and crinkle her nose at the stench, though she knew it was rude to do so. It must have been embarrassing enough for the female without her making faces. And so she lowered her head slightly, watching her hands on her lap instead as she listened to Jessica's story. Having taken off her helmet, she revealed a head of brunette hair, tied back in a messy ponytail that fell down over the sides of her face. A frown tugged her mouth downwards; Jess's sentences seemed to be punctuated by the screams and occasional honking from outside of their little haven, which made the messenger shift uncomfortably in her seat.

Would she be next to have to stick a blade in an infected's head? A person's head? Would she even be able to do it? Jess had said she hadn't meant to, and Katherine was sure that that would be the case for her, as well. She had gotten into bar fights before and knew how to trust her instincts - but to kill someone? Or something? Whatever the hell their new predators were? Yes. You can survive. It wasn't exactly a soothing thought, but she resolved not to think about the choice until the situation presented itself.

A glance at her companion after a moment of this inner conflict confirmed that it wasn't rude to ignore each other for a few moments. She couldn't deny that her mind was being quickly clouded by other, more pressing concerns as her thoughts strayed beyond the walls of the shop. Her mind kept prattling off names like a list as she swung the messenger bag from around her body and dropped it onto her lap, pulling back the zipper so that she too could fish her cell phone out of its depths.

Mom
Dad
Phoebe
James
Marcy

One by one she gave them a call, giving her head a slight shake every time she got a machine instead of an actual voice. After she'd finished the round, she looked up to find that Jessica had come over to where she sat and was speaking, though Kat barely heard what she was saying. There was a small bubble of panic laying still in the pit of her stomach now, having gotten no luck getting through to any of them. She was staring at the screen of her phone, as if willing the others to ring her back. But she did catch the important things: weapon, transportation, and a place outside of the city.

In the end, she decided that her willpower wasn't going to be enough to get her phone to go off, and returned the cellular back into her back, a little more roughly than she'd intended. She zipped the bag and stood up as well, the frown still perched on her lips as she looked around the space to find herself a defensive tool. In silence, she padded over to the a corner of the room where she picked up a metal crowbar, testing its weight thoughtfully in her hands before turning around to face Jessica and finally deciding to speak. "I'll use this," she stated unnecessarily, but it was mostly to herself anyway. "No, we can't use cars. The streets are a maze of them right now, there'd be no way we could maneuver through. But headquarters isn't too far from here... There are bikes we can use if we can make it there." She paused then and cocked her brow slightly at her companion, as if wordlessly asking if she were up to that. Bikes weren't really the ideal for the occasion, she knew, but it would be much easier to outrun those things on some sort of wheels than on foot.

This seems really interesting. I love Murder-Mysteries. I'd love to partake in it if you'll have me. :)

Of course I'll have you :) Shoot me a PM when you're ready!

@Callthecops: Ah, nice one! Mine was Panic! At the Disco at MSG hahaha.

Okkok I think I have a good amount of people now, so I'll get started on the OOC and it should be up sometime tonight or tomorrow!

*EDIT: Also, I think once the OOC is finally up, I'll include a deadline for apps so that I can finally decide on a cast and we can get this party started.
Haha I'm going to a concert tonight as well, so even if I did want to get an OOC up tonight I wouldn't have the time! But yes, it'll be up within the next few days for sure, not to worry.

Meanwhile, please do try and get your submissions in when you can! And again, I did suggest making the characters based after yourselves (you, the person sitting behind the screen) so as to keep the reactions genuine and to help with the process. That's all. (:

Ah, it's almost as great of a ride as TLoU. Close second, I think. (:

Okay, gotcha! Yeah some people are very touchy about others handling their characters, but I will keep that in mind. You're free to do so as well, of course!

Also: I don't think I'll be able to get you a post today as it'll be busy for me, but you'll have one tomorrow for sure.
Well, considering that I've only got your two apps at the moment. I'm not sure about that OOC :P I'll need at least three or four for a cast.
