@shiro Damn, I'd be in Xcom 2, so long as I stayed as far away from the fights as I could, maybe I'd have a chance

Bio

Okay, a quick introduction to myself, I'm Comsicangler - though feel free to call me some shortened version of that. Now I know I've been on this site a while and had almost no activity, however that's been due mostly to big changes irl and having most of my activity on a different rp website, however I needed a change and so have decided to migrate here permanently. So hopefully I should be properly active on this site from now on.

Life is now much more stable for me, I've gotten better at managing time (I write at 2 am, but come on that's cause me and a mate spent 3 hours reliving our childhoods and the literally nightmare fuel that was MR Blobby), but generally I have now more time in my day to spend on rping. Something I'm looking forward to getting back into.

As for myself, I'm a british uni student, studying archaeology in the hopes of doing anything but spending my life digging a trench in the pouring rain. (I've very much wisened up to that nonsense. Trust me, don't go into arch for the digging side, it's not all that great. Go for museums instead, especially if you can find one with a nice friendly staff team. Or just run - that works quite well too.)

Apart from that I'm a literate multi paragraph rper, however within that I can vary from 3/4 paras right up to 10+, despite that don't think that ever makes me someone you can't reach out to if you do less, I learnt with people far better than me and I don't consider myself great by any standard (Just fyi), but no matter the situation, please feel free to drop me a message ^^.

I have rped a lot of sci-fi recently and so am trying to branch out, paticuarly back into my favourite genres that I feel I've neglected in the past year like steampunk and fantasy so please, if you're looking for a partner for either please do reach out to me.

@Eneui Sounds good, I sent you a PM to discuss the details
@Eneui Technology by the point where the characters would have been frozen had a decent synthetic technology available to all. As in a replacement would be sufficient for a few years without maintenance and robotic limbs were at a level where they had become viable and were able to function at a level equal to that of human limbs. The process was expensive, however, and most people would only be able to afford limited amounts.

Saying that the world in which the characters have awoken has progressed significantly since then and it's entirely possible to find far more advanced tech, operating at a far higher level of that of a human.
The Osiris System - asteroid belt - Mining station ROS-O21

The last transmission received gave word of a small pirate fleet warping into the system around them, communications ended likely when a blast damaged or destroyed the comms. With no chance of any reinforcements making it in any reasonable time, the system governer, Jaelyn Rasteri ordered the local 2nd Squadron to be dispatched immediately to destroy the pirates and rescue as much of the minerals as possible.

If the squadron were to fail, the mining station, which supplies most of the system's resources for construction could be destroyed, costing the Republic of Casmir countless fortunes in lost resources as well as vast deaths as without the influx of resources the local megastructure in construction around the system's star could risk becoming unstable and collapsing.

On a galactic scale this small skirmish is of little consequence, yet to the people of this system, the battle is could mean the life or death of most civillians.

Here's something that I've been wanting to try out for a while, so the way this is going to work is that each of you that join will be assigned a ship to command each with its own armour rating and weapon emplacements. THis will initially be a one off premise, however if people like the way this goes I could extend it to a further longer game.

During the RP you'll have to communicate with the other players to attempt to tactically work together and bring your fleet to victory. It is entirely possible that during the game if you fail to do so, your ships will sustain critical damage and be destroyed, meaning you'll have to carefully manage how much damage is being taken while fighting.

With that said, I'll quickly explain the mechanichs. In this you'll have 3 types of weapons: Flak, missiles and kinetic. Flak has the shortest range and does the lowest damage of 5 armour points per battery per turn, however while firing they block 75% of all incoming missiles. Kinetic has the middle range and does a 10 armour points per battery per turn and cannot be deflected, while missiles with the longest range and 50 points per shot have a high chance of being stopped by opposition flak fire.

You need to utilise each weapon type and each ships different systems to bring about victory, the four different ships which make up the 2nd Squadron are listed down below, each with their own weapon systems and armour rating.

Battleship Valiant - Crew of 1,500 - 2 left flak batteries, 2 right flak batteries, 4 missile pods, 8 top kinetic batteries, 8 bottom kinetic batteries, 20 fighters - Armour 2000

Frigate Perseus - Crew of 400 - 2 left flak batteries, 2 right flak batteries, 1 top flak battery, 1 bottom flak battery, 4 top kinetic batteries - Armour 1,300

Destroyer Surefire - Crew of 150 - 4 kinetic batteries, 6 missile pods - Armour 750

Destroyer Slasher - Crew of 150 - 4 kinetic batteries, 6 missile pods - Amour 750

IF you're interested please comment which ship you'd like command of.
I'm glad to hear you're interested, as for posting schedule, that would be something I'd hopefully be able to finalise once I work out the posting availability of the people within this rp, however, to keep the pace at a decent momentum, I'd prefer for there to be roughly 1-2 posts per week. However if one person is unable to progress that week, if they let me know beforehand we can arrange around it, especially if the characters are at a point where one could temporarily stop and then follow on after the group.
A botanist sounds just fine and if you're happy to wait a bit longer to see if anyone else is interested in happy to do that. If you want to go down the route of a few people frozen in case of disaster, then having characters be more technically minded, rather than kickass seems the best way to do it.
Excellent, I'm glad to have someone interested, @ElRey814, if you want to, could you tell me a few details of the character you're going to play while I begin writing up the main forum post for this.
Earth 2113 - Life on Earth has rapidly progressed after the autonomous revolution of the 21st century, human population leveled out at 10.2 billion and now the majority of the workforce is taken up by robotic workers who do the low-level jobs far cheaper and more efficiently. A large proportion of power is now taken from gigantic solar fields and the occasional start to a Dyson swarm around the sun.

For the lower class products are now cheaper, however, there is little to no job opportunities so many have taken to joining shuttles to one of the few dozen orbital colonies which now orbit the earth, each with their own unique atmospheres maintained by machines. Here life is far riskier, damages can cause several deaths almost instantly or a temporary failure in radiation shielding can result in mass illness, yet still, progress goes on. Down on the surface, heavy maintenance by machines has begun to reverse Earth's failing ecosystems, but only in certain areas, many areas still show the mass scars left by industry on the planet.

But still, this is considered humanities golden age, they are reaching out into space, technology is progressing at a stable rate and the concerns of overpopulation appear to be receding, it seemed like it would last forever.

Earth 2465 - A broken planet, ecology all over the world has been devastated, cities lie in ruin and all human life is long dead ... all apart from one.

A single person awakens from a cryogenic chamber to find themselves the sole living human, the remainder of the human population having been wiped out over a hundred years ago. The only remaining evidence from pre-extinction is decaying cities and the machines left to tend them. Machines built for war have long since found and eliminated each other, ending age-old wars in stalemates as any and all remaining combatants died.

Now cities are overgrown and teeming with plant life, tended to and nurtured by the machines built to care for the environment, everything else is derelicts, all apart from one: The Entity. An autonomous machine, with its own ability to think and reason for itself, within limits. When it awoke a long time ago it was in a state of disrepair, slowly rebuilding itself took years and when it finally was constructed, it was alone.

It couldn't tamper with the machines around it or give them any level of independent thought, even though it knew how to, something within its coding wouldn't allow it to do so. Then it made a discovery, a cryogenic chamber containing a single human life, preparing the facility, the Entity began the process of unfreezing the human, wanting something to talk to, or even to gain help in exploring the world around them and why they're alone.

OOC

I'm looking for someone or a small gorup to play one or a few humans who, for whatever reason was frozen in or around the year 2113 and is now unfrozen by The Entity to explore the ruins of a civilisation that once seemed untouchable. There is a definate story which will be explored over the course of the rp , although the rate at which its told will depend on wether the players want to spend more time exploring the ruins or attempting to push the story, both offering their own variety of challenges and enemies.
