@Aisling "We don't know why people become sadists for sure..." Dracula answered. "But it might also be because there are many misconceptions about what a sadist is. What is commonly known to be a sadist is someone who is extraordinarily cruel, mostly for the fun of it, but without any sexual component. But actually, the term 'sadist' comes from an 18th century author, Marquis de Sade. Many of the novels he wrote have got torture or immoral behavior as a topic, and they clearly show a sexual component to it. And that still is the psychological definition of the term 'sadist': Someone who derives pleasure from torture, or from being dominant in general."
@Aisling "There are different theories of how people become sadists, and many of them state that involuntarily feeling the loss of power can make you one," Dracula said. "You've usually been through such loss of power when you have PTSD."
@Aisling "Well, I'm still a sadist..." Dracula admitted. "But I don't just hurt or kill anyone for the fun of it. No. If someone is being punished physically here, it always is because he committed a crime."
@Aisling Dracula smiled back at her. "Many people are afraid of me, especially non-Romanians. Not respectfully afraid, but really afraid. This is due to all the legends that depict me as a mindless killer."
@Aisling Dracula smiled. "Thanks. Not many people say that."
@Aisling "I don't know anyone who always agrees with me. Neither my father, nor Ioan, nor my wife or my children. But that's okay. Without disagreement, there's no discussion, and without discussion, you'll never get to think about your opinions," Dracula said. "I just apologize in advance for what I might do or say in a discussion. I'm not the best at controlling my emotions... actually, I'm so bad at it that it makes me psychologically disabled. But I don't hurt people physically - well, not out of anger -, and it doesn't have a lot of impact on my political decisions, since I always have people to advise me when it comes to making important decisions. And I can't live alone for longer than a day or two..."
@Aisling "The most important thing is to take him the way he is," Ioan said. "Not having to hide in front of someone is the greatest thing you can have when you're mentally ill."
@Aisling "It's really hard to make someone who's suffering from chronic depression happy..." Ioan said with a sigh.
@Aisling Dracula smiled. "Great."

"It's nice to see him so deeply happy," Ioan said to Mystique. "It's a rare sight to see him like that."
@Aisling Dracula was still laughing. Since he was not exactly tall, he climbed up the fence a bit to get his hat back. "Good girl," he said to the giraffe, once it had given the hat back.
