@Aisling "Yes, exactly," Ioan answered. "Politics is laws and also the process of making these laws. Politicians - like the President, the governor, or Vlad - are the people who are involved into this process. You can ask Vlad. I'm sure he'll take you to the parliament if you ask him politely."
@Aisling I once heard a Zen master say, "The greatest freedom one can have is equanimity." To me, that's true. No true happiness without equanimity. Equanimity includes accepting that nothing will ever stay the same, and that includes accepting death... all these secular things - RPing, sunrises, watching a child grow up - are nice to me, but it's not what I call true happiness.
@Aisling "Because some people get upset far too much about politics," Ioan answered. "Even if they aren't politicians. You should care about politics when you're older, but getting upset like that too often isn't good for you."
@Aisling There's one thing that westerners will never understand: That death is inevidable. We can't avoid it. We can't save lives. We can only prolong them. That's not a choice. But what is a choice is whether we get upset about it. Whether we fear death. Whether we feel that deep sadness when someone we love dies. Or whether we accept it.
@Aisling "I mean it as I say it," Vladislaus answered calmly. "There are people who are priests or pastors and at the same time are masters of Zen Buddhism."
@Aisling It's okay... if I had pneumonia and a 104°F fever, I'd stay home. If I my metal implants broke, I'd live with the pain. If I had a heart attack, I'd die. Everything's better than supporting such a system.
@Aisling Vladislaus smiled and sat down. "Thank you. - Maybe you're a good Buddhist-to-be, then. Buddha made it a rule for his life to avoid unneccessary and useless discussion. You wouldn't even have to stop believing in God. I know priests and pastors who are also Zen masters."
@Aisling I hate hospitals and things that refer to them...
@Aisling Vladislaus had followed her a bit behind. "Life's so much easier if you don't get upset."
@Aisling Dracula sighed. "You Americans always get upset about such things... to us Europeans, this is a normal discussion. Neither politics nor religion are things we whine about. It's your country that I criticized. Not you. If I got upset about someone criticizing my country, I'd have a serious problem..."
