Name:DestelRace:HumanAge:24Gender:MaleAppearance:Destel is an average human with neither too big or muscular of a build but simply slim. Being around 5'10 and having lightly tanned skin from traveling around the place, he is naturally pale from residing indoors all of the time. With eyes that are blue like the sea and his hair blonde to the point on getting tinges of white, his appearance is recognizable and noticeable wherever he goes. Often resorting him to always be hidden under his cloak to not be noticed as much.
Clothing/Armor:'Armor' is a luxury to Destel for he wears simple clothing most suited for traveling rather than dragging around heavy pieces of metal around with him. However, he does wears something to protect him and lays upon him leather armor on his shoulders and feet but nothing else besides that, which in all honesty does not help at all. He instead relies on his cloak which wraps around his shoulders and behind his back, enchanted to turn semi-transparent and works better at night. So in general, if he doesn't get into trouble then he shouldn't be at harm as it is more than enough to keep him safe on a normal day. PersonalityIt is impossible to describe Destel until you can apply the situation and context to him in which he will act accordingly. A realist with some issues at being hypocritical but despite that, he is a curious person at heart who wishes to expand what he knows. Being a variety of things, he can be described as weird most of the time and reclusive who prefers to spend time with himself. However, in general, he is nice to strangers and can feign naiveness until he decides with the charades is up with a pretty ambiguous morality. He is in sense a big gray area which his traits may change depending on the situation, being entirely chaotic depending on what is going through his head.History: Destel grew up apart from the Republic and Empire, growing up in what was known as the 'Citadel' which is a magocratic city-state which had segregated itself from the conflict between the two nations which had become a place of learning for mages all around the land. It was a floating city with a Castle to the west floating above the sea on the coastline, claimed by what was known as 'The Order' with a group of mages who formed a council to decide all decisions in the city. Before this however, their relationship with the two sides of the conflict was 'Shakey' at best, as they were forced to take sides in a matter they wished not to enter. Due to the fact that they themselves have been treated poorly which caused no motion to join the Republic which the city-state was located back then. Only through the threats of obtaining the support of the city by force, had incited the council to unwillingly accept their offer of helping them. During the war with the Empire, the Citadel changed immensely in order to become a force to be recognized in the shaky alliance of the Caededril back then. It was only apparent after the defeat of the Empire, that the Alliance saw that the Citadel itself became a growing threat that would be needed to be cut from the bud so that conflict could be prevented latter. Yet, betrayal was to be expected like time again which mages have been treated badly over the course of time and thus they left with their city and all, using their unique and honed mastery over magic to transport their city elsewhere to never be bothered. It now resides in the West literally floating above the ocean, about a mile offshore being surrounded by small uninhabited islands underneath the city.
The Citadel was a place where mages and apprentices all went to learn the arcane arts and thus, it was highly frowned upon to birth children in the city. Destel unfortunately, is one of those children born from such frowned upon meetings, but despite this was encouraged to learn magic from birth since he was already there. The results showed it as he excelled in the magical arts as predicted by the studies of the scholars of the Citadel. As those who are born in the Citadel, a congregation of magical energy both artificial, natural and even latently gathered from all places are absorbed into them during incubation. Despite this, there were always apprentices who were accepted by The Order as babies which was an honor by the parents who gave them up and those few who would turn out to be prodigies of magic even without being magically influenced would be memorable whether good or bad.
Magic can be obtained through vigorous training by those who are not magically adept nor attuned to it but it always helps if you are, in the case of Destel, he was. Under the tutelage of a teacher or 'master' as their official title, he would learn the basics of the magical arts before undergoing various tests to not only determine his aptitude and skill for the arts but to ensure he knew how to safely use them as well. Which as the years passed on, upon the age of 18 he was given his final test to determine if he could become an official mage by the minor council, a group out of four who handled the smaller business of the city while the high council handled bigger issues. Destel passed his tests with full marks and was ascended to an official mage now spending his time pursuing his own studies in hopes of finding what he should pursue.
Leaving the Citadel, he has wandered through the entire continent and has reached the opposite side of it to Oar's Rest in his continued search for knowledge. Hoping to apply his skills to practical situations which were glossed over mostly at the Citadel, learning to apply his magic. He acts as an extension of his home as well, destroying anything he can which do not fit in with that his teachings has taught him. Weapons:Tattooed Runes which are optionally given to mages who wish to have them inscribed upon them, allows to draw upon mana quicker from the area around them to cut a fraction that would cost a spell. Along with even being without active use, they passively increase the mage's absorption of mana for better or worse. These tattoos basically open the magical pores of the body to allow the intake of magical energy, allowing the possibility of the risk of corruption by how polluted the mana is that's entering. Due to the nature of these runes, they also have the properties of detecting magical sources whether they be inanimate or organic.
To his waist, he also possesses a short sword about 1 feet long in length along with a sheath to go along with it. Its mearly a ruse so that at least people second guess before taking him on, keeping his runes obviously hidden, it makes them think he's a warrior instead of somebody who can take them out from afar.
Physical Skills:- Scholarly Sight - Destel has a keen eye to detail from his time in the Citadel where he upon close study and observation can notice things some people might not.
- Arcane Infusion - Born in the Citadel, he was infused with magical energies and since then has increased magical capabilities due to being able to hold more energy within himself and control it.
Magic:- Ritual - The most basic form of magic that anyone can use due to the fact that it simply requires knowledge of what kind of magic that is wished to be performed. It requires at bare minimum a circle to focus magical energy and control it easier, which it gathers from the environment to cast the spell and is the broadest branch of magic along with being one of the easiest art to learn. Ritual magic touches every branch of magic as long as you have the knowledge to specific what is needed to be casted and the ingredients to do so. As the spells can be controlled and amplified with the use of materials to cast the ritual along with gestures, phrases and even dances but these are meant for those without magical aptitude. This form of magic's main purpose is to gather and control energy to cast spells which can be combined with other branches of magic to amplify them in what Destel isn't normally able to do. This form is basically a focus to channel your magic through, rather than free forming which trades in power and control for speed. However it is sometimes understandable when the need for speed is required but it will simply be more taxing if done so.
- Arcane - The beginner's step into the more magical side of magic which draws energy from the caster itself, it focuses on building blocks of more advance magics which is arcane or 'raw magic' essentially. Being magical spells with no specific elemental to them, they are raw magic which can be used to create missiles, blasts, shields and a variety of things. It should be the beginner's area of magic that a mage can learn before specializing in any other forms of magic in order to learn how to control their own mana. It also is the most common type of magic that mages use due to its simplicity and easiness to learn.
Weaknesses:To beat any normal mage, it is easier to rush them down and attack them in close range to prevent them from casually slinging spells which rings true with Destel as well. They lack the physical training to compete is close quarters as most of their time is dedicated to learning their mystical arts. Often causing them to not have any or little martial skill or prowess, making them terrible at melee combat. While at the same time being lightly armored at best or simply wearing cloth like most, they are easily susceptible to damage by an surprise attack or damage from afar as well.
Magic when not being drawn from the environment target's the caster's own reserves causing also drain to their stamina as well when the point reaches to the bottom. Due to the time it takes to draw upon the environment around them, any rush from such melee opponents should be able to disable longer attempts of preparing for a spell usually. As its usually the case that you want to take down the person who can throw fireballs at you before he can do it.
