Elizabeth Imogen McShea, you are in hell. It was the logical leap to make right? These monsters were definitely demons. Even among the few that didn't appear to be cold blooded reptiles most looked like they'd treat a stay in her fireplace back home no different from one at a Holiday Inn. But they weren't actively flaying the souls of the damned, why did that disappoint her?

Lizzy began to pace, "Ma'am" she was completely oblivious to the comment coming from at her feet. She walked back & forth taking in the situation. Small talking monsters had appeared, and appeared to be pairing off with her fellow humans. "Excuse me ma'am" Lizzy began to walk away from the others with no real purpose. "Please ma'am" Lizzy pushed on with purpose if not aim. Before finally coming to a rather large rock grey, granite maybe by the looks of it, to be honest she wasn't concerned with it's composition.

She noted how long it had been since she sat down and climbed atop the small boulder her legs dangling a half inch above the ground."Ma'am" Lizzy felt a sensation unlike anything she had ever felt before indescribable really the closest thing she could remotely compare it to was walking directly at a gammy vineyard vine, Ahh France was fun. Lizzy forced herself back to reality to look at the thing that had touched her ankle.

Everything clicked into place in Lizzy's mind as she looked down at the creature below her. "What the hell are you!" The plant thing seemed to smile at her finally acknowledging it. "I'm your pa-" Lizzy had interrupted the creature almost instantly. "I mean I know the spiel I saw the others, but you're a bloody sapling!" The Little creature looked at her intently now "Actually ma'am I'm a Lalamo-" Lizzy continued to speak, once more interrupting her counterpart. "I mean there was a dragon and I'm pretty sure I saw a robot and a dinosaur, you're a plant and not even a big one."

The little plant creature looked almost defeated at her remark and though Lizzy wouldn't let it show she felt bad for the creature. "I'm sorry ma'am." She rolled her eyes at it's apology.

"What's your name then?"

"My what ma'am?"

"Too late, it's Thorn, for what you lack physically & expressivey, we'll have to work on that."

@cunfuzzler Noice! Do you like using meeting words (titanpad clone)? Or do you prefer collabing via PMs? Either way, sending a thing!

Anything is good with me really.
@cunfuzzler I would be up for that if you are! If not that's also chill. ' v '

I'm down!
"-Shite" Lizzy glanced around for a moment as she fell. Taking in her surroundings, she was apparently falling through a refracted rainbow with several others. It was in that moment the ridiculousness of her situation dawned upon her. This is impossible right, I went from the Grand Canyon to falling through the damn sixties with a bunch of strangers... She took the time to consider the possibilities, she could be dead. It'd make sense, perhaps she just hadn't made the jump and her mind had hallucinated as a coping mechanism as she fell to her death, seemed possible. That'd mean she was falling to hell at the moment, not a pleasant thought. But it was just as likely something as yet inexplicable had happened and she still had a few more seconds until she hit the ground. My last words are gonna be 'Oh shite' if that's the case, can't have that.

Lizzy thought hard as she watched the ground coming towards her, it was a terrifying dilemma, to think of one's last words but she felt somewhat assuaged by the fact that there was literally nothing she could do but fall. It could be something profound, witty, religious, or really anything at all since the only people that would hear it was herself and a few others who were similarly about to splatter on the surface of whatever they were plummeting down to. Whatever it was, she had to think of it fast as the ground was now encompassing her entire vision. The ground was getting closer and closer and she still didn't have it, she thought back on her life, it had been full of lies manipulation and deception. "D'agh, I guess I regret bein' a bit of a conniving bitch." She blurted out, it wasn't quite the good Catholic confession her parents would have wanted but she figured it would still serve the purpose and it was all she could think to say as the final few meters of the fall came to a close. She was still finishing her sentence as she came to a halt just above the ground.

The sudden safe stop didn't really process for her until after she had dropped again. Reflexively after hitting the ground she reached for her glasses adjusting them back to their optimal position on her nose as she rose to a sitting position. She took a moment to take in her surroundings. She appeared to be in a forest, not very hellish and while she didn't recognize any of the others around her, none looked like they were immediately threatening. Finally she stood up, being sure to smooth out her skirt as she did so. Once on her feet Lizzy noted the others had begun introducing themselves, though she had other concerns, her attention had been drawn to one particular item she had noticed.

"Hey gas station guy, Franky or Z or whateva, name's Lizzy McShea, how much for those cigarettes?" She pointed at the pack before putting a hand into her hoodie pocket and pulling out a leather wallet filled with plastic cards and euros. "Not a smoker, but now seems the perfect time to start eh, you take euros?." A small realization hit her immediately and she spoke up again. "Aw shite, nevermind I haven't a damn flame" Lizzy slapped her hand against her head in a display of disappointment at her own error and muttered under her breath. "Eejit." Before turning her attention towards the sky, hoping it held some hint at where she was.
Happy Memorial Day y'all, seemed fitting given the setting.
Lizzy took a swig from her water bottle and glanced back at her companion trying to remember his name. It definitely started with a 'D' right? He was an American, but wouldn't have looked out of place tending a farm in the south of Spain. She looked him over for a moment as he hiked the heavily wooded trail in her wake, his polyester blend workout shirt hugged his shredded torso tightly, leaving very little to the imagination, his shorts were just short enough to exhibit that he didn't skip leg day either though they did leave a lot more to the imagination. "You still keeping up back there."

His eyes rose to meet her gaze, "Yeah, just waiting for you to step up the pace, too hot for you?" Lizzy chuckled for a moment as she considered a double entendre which finally brought his name into her mind, it was 'Dominic'!"Not even close mate, just makin' sure I don't lose ya."

Lizzy brought her attention back to the hiking trail ahead of her, it had taken an upward turn but she could see the break in the trees ahead. Just a little bit further, she clasped the water bottle at her hip and stepped up her pace.

It was only a few minutes before she came to her destination. The trees cleared as Lizzy came to the top of her climb. Finally she found herself at the edge of a massive canyon. "Aye it is pretty damn Grand innit?" She took a deep breath as Dominic came up at her side. "I told you it'd be worth the hike, no view like this anywhere else in the park."

Lizzy pointed to a rocky outcropping about eight feet below and a few feet out from, her position. "How much to get you take make the leap?" Dominic's response was almost immediate. "Gonna need more than money." Lizzy smiled a slyly and glared at him, "Too late now." Lizzy leapt for the outcropping and was briefly conscious of her skirt flying up as she fell, probably not the ideal clothing choice for today in retrospect. Better enjoy the view, all you're gonna get. She thought in the split seconds before landing. Except she wasn't going to land on the rocks, instead the rocks were suddenly enveloped by a bright white circle of light, there was no avoiding it. "Oh-"

Mary pivoted, looking back through the woods, the back of the sign that marked their edge's grey steel was little more than a silhouette at this distance even through her scope. It was still an option though, abandon the park and go around, she brought her scope back around to look at her predicament. It was one man, well not actually a man, he moved with a supernatural grace that betrayed his true nature. She'd seen his ilk before, the Fey were faster, stronger... better than human, herself included. If it knew she was sharing the woods with it she would have no chance of surviving, and she didn't survive this long by allowing such risks to carry on. She followed it through the scope, she had spotted a gap in the trees that would afford her about five seconds of a clear shot at it if it didn't change course quickly. Mary had recognized his garb, it matched that of a Fey she had seen cut down an armed group of five, though that one was accompanied by a construct, glittering in a way that made it truly difficult to pull one's attention away, almost every shot they had fired had landed upon it, or maybe that was a delusion, it didn't matter, the Fey was coming into the clearing. Luckily he didn't alter his course and came into her window of opportunity completely unawares. About two hundred yards, a light western breeze, the target was moving at an angle from her largely negating the significant speed with which he was running within a second she had her crosshairs set just ahead of his picturesque head and squeezed the trigger. Thirty-nine Mary took a mental note as she watched the Fey collapse to the ground almost immediately.

One gunshot shouldn't raise any alarms, or so she hoped, she was after all in the DC Metro area. Still it was probably best to double the pace and make her way to the park's eponymous creek, she could follow it to the city's center, find somewhere to stock up some supplies, and hopefully rejoin it to the Potomac and be out of the city by nightfall. Of course not before visiting the National Mall, she'd never been and though she had heard that it really wasn't what it used to be the promise of no other tourists meant it would still be worth it.

A few hours later...

The woods began to thin out as office buildings began to come into view, Mary climbed the bank of the creek to get her bearings straight. She thought back to an installed map she had come across about an hour ago near a cobblestone bridge that crossed the creek. She would have to cut through the mass of steel and concrete that represented downtown DC to get to the Mall. She took a moment to lay down in what was ostensibly a ditch and brought her scope over her eye. Mary scanned slowly across her sight lines, not a damn thing came into sight. That was somewhat disconcerting to her, D.C. was supposed to have been hit hard by the undead, she hoped their absence in this area had been more of a fluke than a sign that they'd been evicted by something more formidable.

Mary kept to the sidewalk as she broached the grid of downtown D.C. she maintained a brisk pace as she constantly scanned her surroundings. Eventually a sly smile crossed her lips as she saw a small horde of undead hurrying parallel to her a few blocks over. Mary immediately altered her course, now heading to get behind the horde, wherever they were going promised to at least give her an idea of what was happening in the city. Flying blind was not her speed, she needed to at least get a feel for the state of the city.

As Mary rounded the corner onto the road the horde had been on she was surprised by well, the lack of a ravenous zombie horde continuing down the road. Instead she took a couple steps more before her brain registered the situation, several blocks down the road three humanoid figures stood outside an office building cleaning their weapons, the street in front of them littered with lifeless corpses. Mary reflexively dove behind an SUV parked on the street and pulled her pistol from it's holster. She didn't think they'd seen her, but if they had she was going to need her gun to be having a really good day. 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9... Mary let out a sigh of relief, Fey were quick, if they'd been coming after her they'd already be upon her. Mary re holstered her pistol and swung her rifle out front of her. Laying prone she crawled partially underneath the SUV and took a look through the scope from below. One Fey was doable, but three meant move along, they hadn't even been wounded in the fray she assumed preceded the current situation.

Mary sighed and crawled out from under the SUV and brought herself up into a sitting position leaning against it. She resolved to wait for a distraction to make her move, it wasn't worth it to risk them spotting her making an escape. Something would happen eventually, she didn't know what, but she would know it when she saw it.
@cunfuzzler While we wait, I'm just wondering where the animation in your signature comes from.

I always forget I have one.

Pearl Jam - Do The Evolution. Music video directed by Todd McFarlane and Kevin Altieri of Spawn & Batman TAS fame respectively.

I'mma get to work on a post now.
Aye, good time to say that I'm still here, about to go on the return part of a 2,300 mile trip so I will probably not be on for a couple days, not dropping out, just driving... A lot.
