Welcome to the start of your ninja career!
Phase 1: Quick Overview
A freshly enrolled Academy Student, your character will make their mark on the Elemental Nations in
a harsher version of the Naruto world we know and love, the events of the manga, anime, movies and games depicted by Kishimoto-sensei having little to no impact on this Alternate Universe of ours.
You will start as a eight years old child, as of yet
undistinguishable from the average citizen save for maybe some ties to one ninja clan or another.
To gain in knowledge and strength, you will have to put yourself out there and
study,
spar and
compete with your fellow students in order to
gain experience points. These
points will be able to first be
distributed among your natural abilities to make your character able to function better with the few amount of chakra at their disposition.
Later on, you will be able to
earn more
chakra,
jutsus,
special or even
bloodline abilities to get an edge over your opponents and the trials that will await you.
The academy will be a short tutorial and introduction to what will await you.All five major Hidden Villages will be available, but only if a team of three students is created. Only one character per player at a time will be accepted.
Phase 2: The Warring Elemental Nations
The life of a ninja started with a vow and ended with a silent, nearly anonymous death. No one could escape it, for a ninja was a tool to their superiors, who were in turn a too of their Village, the latter merely a resource of its Nation. Contrarily to what was said around bottles of sake, the ninja life had nothing glamorous, or even glorious about it. You were a living weapon, and you will be discarded the moment you grew bent or blunt. This was a fact, and you will be starting on your journey to both be aware of that fact and yet agree to sacrifice your worth as a human being for the well being of your people.
Times a grim, as they have always been, for those without power. Mighty tailed beasts rampage the lands in a nearly predictable pattern of breaking seals and newer and more ingenious ways to harness the raw power that are making up their entire beings. With the tailed beasts comes those who want to snatch them away from their cells and into ones of their own making, aggravating the wars of pride and necessity that each Village wage against one another. Worst still, if the beast themselves weren't any more trouble, new ninja bloodlines and techniques were created in a steady stream of refinement of the once near-infinite power granted by the Divine Tree, the origin of all the chakra in the world. Add to that the hubris, envy and greed commonly found in humankind, and the constant trickle of rogue ninjas ransacking the land is of no surprise to those with enough sense to be aware of the world.
Yet, inside the villages themselves emanate a fragile sense of peace, civilians going about their day, only vaguely aware of their shadowy opposites enacting their superiors' will. In fact, ninja are so attuned to their double life that most Academy Students have not even an inkling of what wait for them once they officially join the Shinobi Forces.
What about you? Are you ready to leave your insouciance behind?
It is now fifty years after the different villages acknowledged each other.
Phase 3: Your Character
As your adventure starts, you will be inducted into your chosen village's Academy along with two other Player Characters and a small variety of NPCs, both students, teachers, random civilians and any family your character may have. These NPCs will be available to your use at any time as long as you do not control them to gain unapproved experience, reputation or ryos from their presence or help. Any plot that involves either others or potential opportunities will have to be run by any other player it concern as well as myself, but will otherwise be yours to bring upon the proverbial table in this thread to plan before either yourself, one of your fellow player or myself initiate it in IC format. While I will have the last call, I am here to make things fair, fun and as easy for you to set up as possible, so I would ask you all to feel free to suggest anything that may come to mind!
As time goes on, events will be spawned and opportunities will be given, offering your character to earn valuable experience points (EXP), Reputation (☆) and Ryo (両). These three values will be extremely important for your character, as they will dictate what they can learn with training sessions, what they can and cannot do, and even how others will react to them. Below is a more in-depth description of each of them:
Experience Points are the measure of what your character learned during their lives, the total amount learned being in parenthesis and the amount available to turn into skills or techniques placed just before it on its own.
Reputation is a measure of how the populace of a specific area feel about you, the higher the number in the positive range the more loved the character is, while the higher number in the negatives is how hated they are, 50 to -50 usually being considered to be neutral. There are no maximum amount in either direction, so you should beware of not making too much of an enemy of someone so that they feel the need to forgo instincts and reason to go after you at all costs!
Ryo is the currency in the whole of the Elemental Nations, and is used to take care of monthly rent, weekly groceries, furniture, ninja equipment and even, latter of course, luxuries such as alcohol and bribes. Be careful to not spend too much money, for while loans can be made, the interests are much too steep for it to be a wise move. You will gain a set amount of ryo per week according to your current Rank, and will be able to earn more via both missions and random or set events.
That said, I will post any change to your character's worth once a event, week or arc ends, the results looking something like that:
Nana earned:
15 EXP5 ☆50 両Ranks will be earned in special, set events, and will often be harder to successfully achieve than any other event or missions.
Time will be fluid, as while some weeks will be busy, others will be without much to do at all. That said, there will be a rough calendar with set events to happen once the day come, and a day will always have a maximum of one event to be completed. The number of missions allowed at a set amount of time will also vary with rank.
Finally, each character will start with the fellow stats, that they will be able to change with enough EXP and time spent training IC.
Ninjutsu - 0
Taijutsu - 0
Genjutsu - 0
Intelligence 5
Strength - 3
Speed 2
Stamina - 3
Hand seals 0
Added to that, they will later be able to learn Jutsus, develop Taijutsu styles, unlock bloodlines and, with enough dedication and cleverness, may even create techniques unique of their own. Do not stress over it all for now, however, for the Academy Arc will be specially made to explain the more mechanical parts of this roleplay.
The only thing you mush absolutely remember is that creativity and wits will get you much farther than stats ever will!
