Sledge nodded, the barricade standing firm between them and the device. Every breath was magnified by the gas mask he was wearing, all he could hear was the steady in and out breaths. Behind him lay a wasteland of bodies and destruction; the entire team had been called out, even the normally 'defensive' operators, who had been instructed to move up or hold the rear respectively. His head snapped to the side as a plastic slapping sound thrummed out, and he saw Doc adjusting his surgeon gloves, before making a 'sorry' gesture.
"Fuze, cluster the area on my mark. Montange and Blitz, ready?" The two nodded at him, and there was a clanking sound as Montagne extended his shield out. They were the decoys: lots of noise and protection, not much firepower. The other teams would be the real killers. That, and Glaz. Speaking of which... "Glaz, are you set up and ready?"
"Affirmative. I've got firing lines to the doors and windows. Go ahead whenever."
"Thermite, your team in position?"
"Affirmative.
"Hibana?"
"Affirmative. X-Kairos all set up so that we can join you guys ASAP."
"Ok. On my mark. 1.. 2... 3... Fuze, now!"
There was the telltale clanking sounds as his charge inserted itself into the room. Before they detonated, Sledge swung forward, leverging all his weight and smashing through the barricade over the doorway, before hitting the deck, the two Shield operators moving forward to block the doorway. He heard Thatcher toss an EMP grenade, shortly followed by the sound of Thermite's charge going off, and soon the room was filled with gunfire, the three teams all moving into the main area.
"Woah, woah woah. Fellas, fellas. As much as I know you'd love to kill more of my men, I have a little proposition..."
One of the White Masks had stepped forward, the gas mask he was wearing fitted with some extra voice magnification device of some sorts, allowing his voice to carry over the din of the battle. The gunfire stopped, and so did Sledge's charge as he saw that he was holding a dead man's trigger. He was just about to gun him down when his thumb came down, and the bomb next to him lit up, the charge flashing regularily.
"See this biochemical device? We don't really care about it. We just needed you to be baited out. The Rainbow Six Team. Twenty Eight of the most highly trained operators in the world, all with unique gadgets and skill-sets beyond that of your colleagues. No. The real bomb, was this." At 'this,' he indicated, and another white mask stepped forward and laid a briefcase on the table, before holding a Geiger counter up. He flicked it on, and suddenly the room was flooded with a clicking sound."
"Let's all meet up for a beer in hell, yes?"
Then there was silence.
So, welcome to Rainbows Shine Bright; the premise is pretty simple. It's a year on from the incident at the university, and the white masks have only gotten more and more bold. Knowing that Rainbow Six was their biggest threat, they staged a trap; lure every operator into a single area, then kill them all, whilst simultaneously making history with the first ever nuclear terror attack.
You will play as one of the recruits called in to reform Team Rainbow, and to finally take the organisation down using information gathered by operative Caviera shortly before the nuclear explosion.
Who's up for some terrorist hunting?
