Current Currently buried in a number of things which I hope will benefit the Guild.

In some ways, the guildfall was a blessing. It makes it harder for my original 2009 RPing to be found...

I've finally returned to the Guild. Many months of much RPing ahead.

A thousand things to be done; plenty motivation.

Bio

Aeronautical Engineer
Irish
TV and Film addict

Been here on the guild since April '08, seen a lot of change but still love it. I've been on and off, I've GM'd fantastic projects and train-wrecks, it all comes with the territory. I once tried to make a YouTube ad for the guild because I'm slightly insane. In a weird place with the Guild right now, seems like so many names I knew are gone, but more than happy and ready to meet new people. Been writing casually for over a decade, a lot of that practice has been here. I have some small short sci-fi stories printed in anthologies but those are so heavily edited they don't even feel like mine any more.

When not on the Guild I'm most likely working, playing FFXIV or the Souls series or (insert recent must play video game).
Anyone with a passing interest in sci fi needs to read Saga by Brian K Vaughan.

No worries man. Asking questions is how you get ahead.

I think that by the way things are going, we could definitely use a 'poster boy' good guy, a sort of lighted beacon to shine on everyone through all the dark and piss Deon off a lot >:D lol but seriously, a good guy could definitely be beneficial to the group.

Then I have three follow up questions:

Is the city essentially martial law correct? All security is government controlled?

How hi-tech are augments and such that are freely available to the general populace?

What would the government's opinion of private security contractors/PIs be?
@Sypherkhode822

I think I found your problem .

The cyberpunk RP you joined, which I am in the process of applying to, had a ridiculously quick start. Stupidly so.
2 IC posts, 9 characters and 100 OOC posts in just over a day? That is not normal, that is exceptional and gave you an incorrect view of the usual speed of things.

Four people responded with interest to your RP within 24 hours, and that was with a paragraph of a concept. Compare your interest check to the opening/setting post of the cyberpunk RP.

Get a decent opening/setting post up as an actual RP thread, link it to the interest check and you're sure to get a good number. Four people is plenty! That's five including you which I would say is definitely the most normal number to see. You did nothing wrong you just had high hopes. Four players interested in twenty fours is great! Flesh out the idea, and I'm sure you'll have no problem getting it going.
@Darkmatter
Not necessarily specific types of characters, but characters you hope to have that could easily be involved with the plot. I've often observed characters being made and then doing little with the core story simply because of its nature by design.

For example, you wouldn't want us to create a hobo just because someone thinks it would be 'fun' to play as one in this setting. It's an extreme example, but I think it illustrates my point clearly.

Then based on that, here are some character types I consider viable.

-Rebels from any dominion, or within the Asiatic alliance.

-Any member of the Imperial aristocracy, as it is such a militaristic monarchy that they'd all have a vested interest in keeping the gears turning.

-Any of the Alliance's Oligarchs

-Military personal from either of the two big factions, or from another smaller player faction as long as there is reasonable cause and ability for them to be involved in the conflict.

-Diplomatic characters.

-Technology plays a big part in the setting so engineers and R&D characters are more than welcome.

To be honest, there's more than this these would just be, in my immediate thoughts, the ones people would gravitate towards. Realistically I repeated myself a bit in the above list. I think people have the correct idea of the kinds of characters they want anyway.

It's possible to have any character involved somehow when it's a global setting.

I think more will be made clear with my first IC post.
Essentially the Imperium have a goal now in Europe, and the resistance fighters are fighting for their own sake.
@Leb Alright, after discussing with both Mach and Ghost, we have agreed that while the CS itself is really great, the image is a bit on the anime/cartoonish side... VERY borderline. A lot of who your character is stems from the way she looks (which I totally get. I'm one of those people who find pictures and then build a character off of how they appear to me) and with those specifications of her hair (at least) we are going to go ahead and approve this, HOWEVER if you want to take out some time these next few days and do a little image searching and can find something resembling closely (we would also be willing to help in that search -ahem-) what you are going for, you will get major kudos from the co-GMs and I.

Damn... this is getting a lot more attention than anticipated haha. Yeah go ahead and make a CS, we're still accepting...

On another note... maybe we should think about a limit so this thing doesn't implode on itself... o.0

I've skimmed the sheets but nor read them all fully, in the process of doing so. Based on the character already there, would another criminal character be ill-advised, would people prefer a 'good guy' or maybe just a seemingly unimportant character?
@darkmatter No kidding. Interest left right and centre. But we haven't cut it off yet! Hop on in. XD

Cyberpunk tends to be super popular, I gm'd one a few years back that had about 10 IC posts within a day

I'm surprised there haven't been any in-depth ones like this again, until now, or at least that I haven't seen. Pretty excited, looking forward to jumping in.
This thing took off like a rocket.

If you're still accepting, I'll begin work on a character.
In my opinion you need three solid things:

-A good setting and plot.

-An aim.

-Ability as a GM.

All three of these things are conducive to each other and I'll break down what I mean. What is your setting? Is it something original? If not is it at least something not being done much at the moment? There's no truly original ideas any more, but is your is your RP just another 'x' type of RP or does it have a hook. The forums can at times be saturated with samey RPs.
What are you trying to do? What's the aim; the core philosophy of the RP? Is plot central or is player interaction or perhaps combat/a sense of winning? Has this core ideal been conveyed to potential players?
Probably most important though is how good are you at actually selling the RP, getting players motivated and keeping things organised, essentially, your own abilities as a GM.

Perhaps share the specific roleplay and more particular feedback can be provided.
I've had plenty skype interaction with people I've met here. Hank recently told me he showed some other members around Amsterdam when they visited.

The theory that we're all introverts isn't true in my opinion at all, there's plenty bubbly and extroverted people here I'd be happy to have a coffee/pint with.
Here, have a formal welcome

Also, will you please write a romance novel for me? I love smut
