I'm happy with participating in a single RP - Something tells me I'm the only one?

In Batam for a month after quitting my job. Been powering through my writing since. I guess this is where I call myself a full-time professional writer.

You don't understand me because you don't know me. I didn't want that UN Peacekeeper to change at all because I wasn't done exploring him and what story he'd go through, but meh...

You're persistent. Maybe I might give this a try. I don't like to leave things in PM though. I prefer to lay things out in the open. Before I commit to creating a new character, I'm going to lay my cards on the table, as my characters tend to take a bit of time to make. It's safe to say that I'm not in a big hurry to join in, so there's that. Here's all of my most developed ideas so far:

- UN Peacekeeper (As I understand, this is rejected no matter what new angle I come in from.)

- Astronaut (One of the oldest ideas I've ever have. Is supposed to be interesting, as he'd come in without any knowledge of what is going on. Will be highly specialised and talented, but may start out physically and mentally disoriented. A trip through space does that to people.)

- Wild Child (One of my award-winning characters. Basically a kid who used to have a life, who used to be gifted, but had lost all friends and family, and darn near lost all of his/her social graces and sanity. Better at surviving than most kids her age, but his/her insanity might be a threat to anyone)

- Ultramarathon Runner (An idea I'd been toying with for a while. Likely an athlete in his/her prime from somewhere in Kenya. Training in all manner of distances in running from a 400m sprint to an ultramarathon. While he might be as fast as a cheetah and runs longer than anything on two or four legs, that's pretty much the only thing she/he's good at. She/He's likely at most of average height, average build, and can't carry too much. Neither is he the brightest guy/girl in the room)

- The Repentant Serial Killer (Another newer idea I've had. Basically used to be an active serial killer before the outbreak, with her/his own MO, nickname and everything. After the outbreak, she/he found his desire assuaged or she/he's even getting more than he could chew. As a result, she/he's a 'changed man/woman'. Predictably good at murdering and killing both the living and the dead, which makes her/him cunning, careful, calculating. And creepy.)

- Doctor Gamble (Inspired by an old manga I read as a kid. He's a straight up gifted surgeon, able to operate in the harshest and resource-spent conditions. Has a troubled past and got into alot of scrapes, which explains why he's good at brawling and throwing/slicing with sharp objects. Has a vendetta against the criminal underworld and anyone who trivialises life. Conversely, he will go all out for people who values life.)

If there's more, I'll let you know. In the meantime, pick your poison, GM.

You seem to regard me as a simpleton-adolescent.

Nah, Anime doesn't appeal to me. I can't remember the last time I willingly watched anime (my younger cousins dragged me into it once but...). It wasn't their tradition and samurai and the JSDF. I wanted to try emulating the Japanese spirit a bit, inasmuch as I know it. And the reason why I kept playing the same character is because I didn't get to really play him, explore him. Instead, the RPs kept dying on me.

You know, playing as an African ultramarathon runner was one of my considerations. But I'm going to need to take time out from roleplayerguild. Again.
This RP appears dead. Polyphemus, PM me if it isn't and I'll get right back on it. Otherwise, I'm withdrawing my interest in this RP.

I'm afraid I am withdrawing my interest in this RP.

@Darkraven I am sorry, and don't want to sound like I'm pigeon holing you, but the idea of a Japanese soldier, thousands of miles from home, with specialist training in killing shamblers just doesn't fit the realism scope of the RP. If we were closer to Japan, then maybe, but alas...

I'll be happy to accept any other characters you have to offer, just please make my life easier by having their existence make sense to my RP. Thanks ;)

Looks like we'd have to agree to disagree. It's no fault of yours, but my time in roleplayerguild hasn't been worthwhile. 3 dead RPs in the span of a few weeks, my gosh! Anyhoo...

1) I didn't say that he had special training. I've emphasised that they were only outfitted differently, and hastily as I might add, with some makeshift BACKWARD technology. Yes, they've gone backwards. What training they have would have been at the most on-the-spot consistently only of experience and maybe some quick briefings on new SOPs and combat doctrines. They were tried and true as the days rolled by.

2) So an American in foreign soil is believable but a person from another nation on American soil isn't?

3) Don't forget that we have planes, helicopters and even ships. The last one is much more old tech but still would have accounted for the mobility.

4) EDIT: I found a solution for my character and that is to place him in the United States before the outbreak. They were in a joint military training exercise with the US military, the outbreak happened and his unit was quickly outfitted to fight the dead either using airdropped supplies or locally procurred supplies. But like I said, don't matter now.

That said, I'm afraid my plans have changed and I won't be joining this RP. Like I said, it's not your fault entirely. I've got real life stuff, I've yet again been disappointed by roleplayerguild. I feel that we're different in thoughts and opinions which will lead to lack of trust, disagreements and conflict. Lastly, the style of your RP, in the end, is risky to me - this is partly proven by the failure of the last 3 zombie RP I'd been involved in.

Thanks for considering me though. We knows? We might meet again under different circumstances.
What about everyone else? What about the GM? Because if this RP's dead, it's dead and I won't spend more effort on it.
Is this dead?

As much as I hate to say it. It seems that way.

Snippity Snip!

Sounds pretty good.

Zombie killer units sound ridiculous. The world hasn't gone full cartoon, just because the dead are rising. Most militaries are still employing traditional, albeit slightly modified, tactics against the situation.

It's not cartoon. Basically, what you do to put a soldier into a 'zombie killer unit' is to throw in like 20% of the Future Warrior Program (whatever can be rushed out) into them (would make sense that the Japanese would bring some of those parts with them so that they could show off to the other nations their tech), throw them some basic riot gear, scrounge up swords for them, other traditional weapons like the spear for others and riot shield + hastily made short sword for the rest (legionary style). Then to add the cherry on top they get brassards and badges, that's it.

Predictably, they'll likely perform slightly worse than your normal soldier in modern warfare due to all the extra gear (unless ammunition is gone or too precious to use, or if no one wants to draw the attention of the walkers), but expect a single soldier of the Kyonshikirapeitai to be able to take on a dozen zombies alone.

---

That said, if it's still not believable after I explain things, I'd prefer to create a new character. Maybe that astronaut I've been meaning to play as :D

EDIT: I do appreciate all that effort you're putting into me though, but if the character isn't intact and becomes a run-of-the-mill soldier guy, there's no point in inventing a convoluted chain of events to bring him to Washington D.C from Japan.
