Within the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Winter Soldier is re-purposed as an agent of the terrorist organisation HYDRA as opposed to the KGB. This is an idea I could not pass up on exploring in a reimagined universe. At the start of my proposed storyline, Bucky Barnes is freed from his service to a world he has shaped without being aware of it. His goal will be the extinction of the now defunct and shambling organisation that warped him into a living weapon. There will be twists.
