Player Name:
Dblade26
Primary Character:
Blue Beetle
Secret Identity:
Theodore Edward Stephen Kord
Status:
Reservist JLU
Age:
Around twenty-seven (27)
City:
Hub City
Day Job:
Ted would consider himself a scientist and inventor first and foremost, but he's also the CEO of the highly successful Kord Omniversal Research and Design company and funds a number of side projects at any given time, some of which even manage to make money.
Powers:
Ted has no superhuman powers whatsoever. In terms of human ability, he's generally incredibly fit and has the physicals of an Olympic level athlete, though he's been known to let his conditioning slip. He's also got an inherently brilliant intellect.
Weaknesses:
Ted can be killed just as easily as any other human being. Maybe easier, given his weakness for junk food and poorly thought out pranks along with a heart condition he doesn't yet know about.
Skills:
The most notable thing about Ted, when he actually bothers to remember it, is his genius level intellect. He's an expert in numerous scientific fields and a few non-scientific ones most of which sound very impressive on paper, and is personally responsible for a number of breakthroughs behind some of KORD Inc's most important inventions. He has particular interests in the study and reverse engineering of alien technology, solar technologies and more generally any field that might help provide everyday people with easy access to futuristic technology. More importantly Ted's designed and built all of his own crimefighting tech including his usually non-lethal multi-setting firearm: the B.B. Gun, along with his flying, solar-powered high tech multi-purpose vehicle, the Bug.
On the more physical side of things, Ted's an extraordinary gymnast and acrobat, naturally ambidextrous and skilled in judo, boxing and karate all of which he combines together into a unusual mixed fighting style. He's also got some skill in stealth and infiltration and is generally a very experienced adventurer between his teenage trials with Dan Garrett and his modern career as a superhero.

BRIEF Bio:
Things always tended to come too easily for Ted Kord. He was naturally smart, naturally athletically talented, born to rich parents and had access to the sort of cutting edge technology that meant he always had all the best toys. As a result, he spent a lot of his life battling boredom as much as super-villains. At nine he was using miniature drones of his own design to prank his father's scientists. At twelve he tried to hack into the Department of Defense's computer network. At sixteen he was already in college and fighting off tomb raiders with his archaeology professor as an elective. By twenty he'd become an extremely young and often goofy figurehead for one of the largest research and development companies in the United States. By twenty-one, he was heading their Applied Sciences division himself and scheming to put solar energy and KORD hover tech in every home.
His ambitions changed when Hub City, his hometown, nearly suffered complete societal collapse following a massive tornado and resultant citywide, days-long riots. In the chaos that followed, Ted was unable to stand by and found himself drawn towards using his inventions and talents not just to rebuild his city, but to directly fight against the lawlessness that was rocking Hub to the core. Ted re-purposed a prototype hazardous environment exploration vehicle and an experimental field research suit into the beginnings of a crime-fighting arsenal. Taking on an even more fantastical, super-science inspired alter-ego he worked to stop the crime-wave destroying Hub as The Blue Beetle while simultaneously pouring money and tech into repairing the city itself as CEO of KORD Industries. He never intended to join the Justice League and work in the Superhero Bigtime, but is definitely excited by the life he now leads.
Story Arcs:
Beetle's Busy Birthday!-Blue Beetle just wants to celebrate his birthday in peace, but old foes and disgruntled former employees keep bursting in with power armor or weird abilities to swear vengeance on Ted Kord. (solo)
Carapax's Computerized Chaos!-Blue Beetle's old mechanical foe Carapax has gone fully wireless! He's not only hacked into an army of mechanical power armors, he's stolen a hardlight hologram of Blue Beetle and is now masquerading as the hero! (Team Up)
Return of the Reach!- As Ted always feared, the original owners of the Scarab have shown up. But what are their intentions? (Active JLU Mission)
Supporting Characters:
Beetle's Busy Birthday!-Firefist, Overthrow, Chronos the Time Thief, Prometheum Man, Catalyst
Carapax's Computerized Chaos!-Conrad Carapax The Invincible Man, Additional JLU Member.
Return of the Reach!-Black Beetle, The Reach, JLU Cast.
Secondary Character:
Plastic Man!-A scrawny sixteen-year-old version of Plas who grew up a pickpocket and a con artist after being orphaned when he was eight or so, I'm thinking he'll be placed with the Titans as a sort of work-rehabilitation program and chance at reformation.
Additional Notes:
In general, I'm going for a Ted Kord who's goofy and silly but still a genius inventor who's capable of being competent when it counts. When he's not in costume I'm planning on making Ted's public persona almost like a more jokey Elon Musk, a guy who uses personal charm and silly ideas and publicity stunts to promote his company while advocating futurism and a higher tech standard of living. Of course, he's just as silly and jokey when there's nothing to be gained, it's just who he is either way.
