Apologies for the delay
So so SO SORRY! I'm on vacation, so I haven't really had the time to post. Again, unimaginably sorry.
Easy, man. I'm working up a Punisher post, just settling on the verbal rhythm between Rachel and Castle. Their conversation and its outcome is largely what will affect the arc I'm doing.

A large part of her personality is due to the way she grew up and was trained, being honed as a weapon from day one. A life like that isn't going to breed a happy-go-lucky party girl, it's going to make her hard and cold. She had to learn early on that detachment was the only way to keep herself sane, otherwise the pain and brutality of what they put her through (both mentally and physically) would be too much. Like how Wolverine's healing factor erased some of his memories in order to keep him from snapping. But beneath all the conditioning and training and mental scars, she's still just an innocent girl. The target in that first post was the first person she'd ever killed, and it wasn't even her that actually did it. She'll likely be losing that innocence in subsequent posts, but I wanted to show a bit of what she was like at the beginning, before I get to the ruthless killer part of her story.

Sometimes I think he snapped anyway. Still it's nice to see that you have a plan and Laura is swiftly becoming one of my favourite characters to read. In contrast is Rachel and Castle. Castle the father & Husband died with his family, ironic considering his family was the thing that kept him sane during his Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC) (the Marine Corps' special forces) days in Afghanistan.

When his family was murdered, Castle the Soldier survived, hard and cold, and ruthless. On the other hand of that is Rachel Cole-Alves. She was not Special Forces like Castle, but she is very much his emotional opposite; the soldier part of her is still there, but at the same time, so is the newlywed, grief-stricken wife-turned widow. She essentially is Castle's soon-to-be moral compass/Diggle. She can't turn him back from the cold, ruthless man he is now, but maybe he can become the Punisher in earnest through her; remember, he's just starting out.
Schradinger, I love your latest X-23, nice job. I like how you focused on what she felt and processed emotionally more so than what was actually going on around her and it fits with your present arc; her waking up from her detached, disillusioned world. By the way does her behavioural training give her this clinical detachment or does she (like most of the girls I've ever met) have an unique personality?
I'm not good with tone even face to face. Although being deaf has led me to develop the skill (without classes mind you) to read lips.

Oh I know. It wasn't a serious question. The winky face was meant to convey that I was joking and totally caught the reference...

Ohhhh. My bad. Sorry.

616, though it seems odd you'd forget that little detail...And you should definitely PM me the details. :)

It's a reference to the 616 U for marvel. And remember she did lose her husband after just two days of marriage in front of her eyes. She has a right to oversigh.

You know, Deathstroke, I was just reading your post and noticed how many times Rachel had sighed. That seems like an awful specific number to me... Does it have any particular kind of significance? ;)Heh. I'm always sneaking things like that into my posts in star wars RP's. I think I've used some variant of THX-1138 in no less than four post in the last two weeks.

Just how many times did she sigh? I don't recall. And as to Laura Kinney(yes I prefer to refer to comic-book characters by their real names) I think I may have a Kinney/Castle team-up arc idea.

So I found out yesterday that my usual schedule just got shot all to hell, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to make my next post here, given that they're usually going to be longer than those required in, say, the arena. It may be difficult to bring together both the time and the hardware necessary to write longer posts. So I apologize in advance if my lack of IC posts stretches on too long. I'll definitely keep trying to find a way to get them written though, since I really like where all these stories are going.

Dang, and I was really looking forward to X-23, too.
