No, if your character is normal the question is big. If your character is a full-blown sociopath or someone of similar nature in terms of lacking empathy, the question is very inconsequential.

Or if they're a god, that also makes matters of survival and morality quite trivial as well.

This is why I say it'll take longer though, since Sok basically has this: Absolute Potential.

But, you know, it takes time for one to turn potential into reality. And at the moment he's only on like low-superhuman levels of physical ability at best. Mastering dimensional travel will take him learning that it is a possibility, and then actually working towards being able to go from one dimension to the next.
