I lose interest in being nice to players who in the past argued with my human player in a Sci-Fi RP over a name and then also got mad when said human players history didn't work for theirs, even know they hadn't even posted a app yet.

The reason why I do not want Martians is actually rather straight forward and simple. This NRP is supposed to be a Pseudo-version of our own world with Steampunk technology, with themes of Nationalism, Imperialism, and Colonialism. It was created as a way of giving players more freedom in creating their nations and more freedom in designing tech. Martians really do not fit into that.

I have the sudden inspiration to play as a toned down HG Wells style Martians here.
Would that be alright?
Say, some decades ago the Martians landed on a certain country and conquered it but currently they lack the resources to advance any further.
They wouldn't be OP in a steampunk settingabd they would be even open to some diplomacy here. Though the fact they keep humans as slaves would make people somewhat apprehensive to them, no doubt.

Name of Nation: The Matwe Confederation

Description of Government: Oligarchy, influenced by tribal factions
Description of Economy: Agrarian with a rapidly developing Mercantile economy.
Description of Culture: The Matwe people are not specifically religious, but there culture is rich with the influences of animism, ancestor worship and the natural world; all of which is reflected in everything from art to warfare.

Description of Military:

Rapidly advancing. Modern Matwe forces rely solely on weapons from other countries. The average Matwe warrior is armed with simple rifles, sabers or swords-but more often with bows, slings and spears. They have never engaged in an open battle, relying on ambush tactics, subterfuge, and sabatoge.
History: The Matwe people are a collection of dozens of tribes in the mountainous eastern coastlands. With a history beginning approximately 10,000 years ago, the tribes originallly varied greatly but over the millenia have centered in (pseudo-virginia) around the mythological Matwe Family. All kings of the Matwe are called Matwe, giving up their birth name upon taking the throne. Before their was a king, the tribes either fought endlessly or completely ignored each other.
Other:
The Matwe see the (pseudo-europeans) as potential allies. They seek technology that they do not fully understand (they have no idea what blue coal is) to rapidly modernize. The king of Matwe does not fully understand the political and societal issues that are about to happen...

Anyone done a Pseudo-Japan yet? Thinking of a traditional society trying to modernize rapidly. Also, how fantastical is this setting? Would a science department that tests subjects exposure to blue coal fit the setting? I don't know how 'magical' your aiming for this thing to be-I was thinking FF6-ish style...
