What I meant was that, considering the majority of your average ranger's actions are going to involve hunting animals, it doesn't make a difference what you say to one another since the animals can't comprehend it anyways.

GM question: Will we be following canon when we start or will you be letting the story take its course as an AU as we go on?

Any events that don't end up altered by the characters themselves will proceed as canon dictates. I'm not going to go actively out of my way to give characters the opportunity to disrupt the events as laid out by the story, because I'm far worse at figuring out the ripple-effect of things than GRRM, but if something does happen I'll try to keep it going on the fly.

I anticipate that our characters won't quite be important enough in the eyes of people like Tywin Lannister or Robb Stark to make any huge difference.

Note that your character may well not know this. We'll be picking up RP very shortly after the battles at the Golden Tooth and Mummer's Ford (where another Wylde, presumably the actual heir, died).

If it makes you feel any better, I had no idea either. Jon himself is mentioned exactly once, in the appendix of ASOS. The house in general doesn't get much more. But hey, you've been upgraded from hedge knight to minor stormlander lordling! Should add some interesting dynamics, considering that the Wyldes stay loyal to Stannis in-canon.

I don't see why not. It's not like this is King's Landing, where you have a formal small council. Odds are that every nobleperson in the town would be at court a large portion of the time.

On a side note, if nobody stops by to claim Lord Lucias I'll probably make a sheet for him, so as to have a devoted character with which to drive the RP.

@agentmanatee Looks good so far. The only nitpick I have to make is one one of his weaknesses -- as a knight, Jon almost certainly wouldn't be expected to have any archery skills, so it doesn't quite count as a drawback. Regardless, you've got plenty of more valid ones.

The court's general opinion on Jon will no doubt be determined by the people playing him, but I imagine that the lord and lady might be a bit miffed that they lost a potential marriage alliance to a hedge knight.

@fantasychic @agentmanatee Lore (and by 'lore' i mean a single line in the back of one of the books) dictates that the two have a son, but if you guys don't want to then feel free. I imagine he'd be an infant or under, say, five years of age at oldest.

@oak7reeLooks fine already. Things could maybe use a bit more of that expanding and refining, but once you've got him in a state you're happy with feel free to toss him over in the characters section.

I should probably get one more thing out in the air: I plan on most likely starting the RP off the Friday after this next, or 12/18 / ten days from now. Hooray for finals! So take your time with the character-building, and make sure to get all the intricate intertwining familial histories worked out with one another.

I reserve the right to change this around, but it shouldn't later than that date at very least. Might be I'll find the time to put the thread up on Saturday or Sunday if a lot of people get onboard.
