Today was the big day. The big day that years of hard work, training and getting beaten over the head during sparring matches lead to. Unmistakably the soft pitter patter of the rain made the courtyard of the ninja academy shine in that characteristic way, that way that only Amegakure rain could make pavement shine. This courtyard would be familiar to the students that were lined up now, standing in a neat row organized by the sensei in advance, awaiting the arrival of the leader of the rain – a woman shrouded in as much mystery as the hidden rain itself. Not much more was known than her name. Kaguya Yogensha. Any other information was reliant on vague rumors to those not privy to meeting her privately, from the way she dressed to the way she fought. She had observed the students once or twice, though not openly, so the students would likely also not be familiar with the woman.

The monotony of the sound of rain pouring down from the heavens was broken by the entrance of two guards wearing masks and long hoods, appearing from the gate leading to the academy. ANBU. Not surprising, considering the leader of the Rain was visiting. Unseen by the academy students were the myriad of other ANBU that were hidden in plain sight on the buildings around them. A moment of silence passed before a figure wearing a similar cloak, though beige in color and not black, passed in between the two ANBU standing at the gate. She was looking down, and continued walking until she stood in front of the students. She looked up then, looking over the line of shinobi left-to-right, and then back, before smiling at them. The woman, presumably the kage, had a peculiar style of makeup on her face, with red dots on her forehead and the edges of her eye, as well as one on the bottom part of her lip. Her hair had been carefully combed and parted, then pulled backwards behind her ears. Two tails hung down to her shoulders, draped along the front of her body.

There was something awkward about her smile. It wasn’t a genuine smile, and it did not take a genius of social interaction to know this much. It had a hint of sorrow in it, as if she was remorseful about the graduation of these students. Perhaps they had been deemed not good enough, and had been passed only to bolster the ranks of the shinobi armed forces in Amegakure.

Following shortly was a man, about a full head taller than the woman. He was much more well known, as he was the assistant to the kage, and did most of the public business that the kage did not attend. He was not wearing any cloak, but instead wore armor resembling that of a samurai perhaps – although modified to be more agile and stealthy. He was a known kenjutsu-genjutsu specialist, and a dangerous and formidable foe in any capacity otherwise. This face would be known to the students, as he had observed the classes openly more than once.

It was not the leader, this ‘Yogensha,’ that would speak up. Instead, it was the assistant. “Students,” he started, “if I may call you that still.” He raised his hand, furled into a fist clutching on to a large amount of shinobi headbands, marked with the stripes of the hidden rain village. A worthy prize for any shinobi that had proven themselves in the academy. And a source of pride for those who earned it.

“Unfortunately, you are not done learning just yet,” he continued, lowering his fist again. A few drops of water started running down the metal of the forehead protector. “In Amegakure no Sato, the rain never ends. Just like the rain, your road to shinobihood never ends. It is an everlasting path you must walk.”

As the assistant spoke, behind him Yogensha peered up into the sky and slowly formed the tiger seal, mumbling to herself, “Ukojizai no jutsu,”, barely audible to anyone, to which the rain offered a brief moment of respite and let up, allowing the sun to shine through only momentarily.

The assistant continued, stepping forward and beginning to hand out the headbands to everyone in the line.

“Now that you have passed your exams, you must remember; mistakes are no longer the difference between passing or failing an assignment, they are the difference between life and death. Not just for you, but for your comrades too. Your assignments, starting now, are going to be greater than you – greater than your own life.”

The students had been instructed prior to the event during the rehearsal with their sensei to not put the headband on until the command was given, so they were left standing there with the headband in their hand. The assistant did not seem to let up and only continued his speech, as boring as it may have been.

“Remember what it means to be a shinobi of Amegakure no Sato.” He stepped back, standing next to Yogensha once more. Before he could continue, she filled in the next line for him, letting the students hear her voice finally.

“Being a shinobi of Amegakure no Sato means you bear the burden of sacrifice so that others do not have to. Congratulations, shinobi,” she told the students in front of her, once again flashing them an ingenuine smile. This was the signal that the shinobi could put their headbands on, and probably the moment they had all been waiting for.

She turned around and mumbled to herself as she proceeded towards the gate where the two ANBU guards were waiting for her while she formed the tiger seal again. “The rain weeps for you, and the suffering you will cause and receive.” On cue, the sky darkened again and the gap that had allowed the sun to shine through closed, before a blast of thunder lauded the entry of more rain showering down on the fresh graduates.

The assistant carried on, continuing where Yogensha had left him off. “You will receive a week off to collect yourselves, enjoy time with your family, and spend a well-earned break with friends. After that week, you will receive notice from your sensei. Good luck, shinobi.” His address of the students as shinobi rather than students was specifically chosen, as he was no longer speaking to children, but to soldiers of Amegakure no Sato, part of the armed forces now that they had officially secured their ranks. And with that, he too marched off, leaving the new genin to celebrate with their peers and the family that might have shown up to celebrate with them.

Otherwise she takes great care of herself, mostly her hair and her face. Being a woman, she believes that her first tool as a shinobi is her appearance, which can be deceiving upon first sight as she looks more like a daimyo's daughter than an S rank shinobi that leads a shinobi village.

Her wardrobe consists of formal-wear, like kimono's and the like, all of which have long sleeves that have the potential to hide her hands if she desires. They lack defining features and instead directs focus to her face.

Biography

▸ History:

Yogensha was born in an area where little to nothing stood - there were no villages, no people, or even animals. Just wide open plains that were occasionally used for travel. Steppes - that's what the locals called them. The few that existed. It was more or less a requirement to travel by horse here, unless you were a shinobi and could travel faster than the average human. They were ... areas that were of little importance to the rest of the world, but meant everything to Yogensha at a young age. There she could be free. She was raised in the same way - free, without a care, only yourself to worry about. Everything else was a matter for someone else, but not the Kaguya's.

How wrong they were, but how blissful it could be to be wrong.

When she was six she was sent eastwards with a clan of traveling merchants. Passed off by her parents like.. dead weight. It was natural - like a bird throwing their young out the nest, this was her parents way of saying 'grow up'. It was only later she realized that her parents didn't know better - that they were raised in the same way. But back then it felt like her heart was torn from her. She screamed, kicked and cried as they took her. 'We have orders,' they said, 'to take you to Sunagakure.' She didn't want to go to Sunagakure.

Traveling was harsh. The merchants were slow and took every opportunity to stop and rest. As they got further and further from the steppes where her parents were, she could almost feel the connection severing until something snapped in her head. It was an audible snap - it was just gone. She didn't care anymore. Perhaps she realized herself that there was nothing she could do, or perhaps she figured that her parents didn't care so why should she? Again, she later realized that this wasn't the truth, but at that moment it helped her get through things.

The arrival in Sunagakure was... harsh too. She immediately kicked up trouble before the merchants could enroll her in the academy, and before the week was over she'd packed up her items, what few she had, and stole some food. Then she trekked through the desert by herself, occasionally meeting people and shinobi. Her wild streak settled in and she began making trouble, even on the road, as she crossed over into territories that were no longer Sunagakure's. A child travelling by themselves, making trouble, that can only go right for so long.

One day she ran into a group of Konoha genin, easily five years her senior, who commented on 'a lonesome child not having to be alone on the road.' With a typical attitude for her, she told them to go away in colorful terms, and leave her alone, so they pummeled her into the ground and made her eat her words. It wasn't until their sensei came back from his scouting run that they stopped - and for fear of trouble from their superiors, the sensei made a point of it that nobody tell anyone and that this wasn't reported.

She was left alone, and for the first time since leaving her parents she missed them again. She found solace when a local shrine maiden returning from the water well found her, and took her with her to clean her up. Once they arrived at the shrine, Yogensha never truly left. She began working with the shrinemaidens, cleaning the shrines, and meditating and thinking upon the greater lessons of the Sage. It didn't go well at first - she resisted and didn't want to study, just wanted to chase the local cat around the yard and play in the zen garden, splashing the water of the pool all over. Since the shrine was in Amegakure territory, it rained almost permanently, so the shrine maidens would have to spend hours cleaning up both after her and the girl herself.

But, she caught on eventually, and calmed down, began enjoying the training even. It was here that she began developing her special skillset - like most Amegakure shinobi, she never received a formal shinobi education, instead learning from herself and others. A benefit and a curse - she was never formally enrolled, and so many people never heard of her, giving her an edge. But she also lacked the rudimentary skills at first - she didn't have such good chakra control, and waterwalking was a slow process, just like a shadow clone, or a henge no jutsu.

On the other hand, she developed an entirely new skillset with the help of meditation. Meditating made her feel aware of everything in her body, including her tenketsu, and allowed her to use chakra to form new arms. It was scary at first, and she thought she was sick, but the shrinemaidens calmed her and led her to a nearby 'sage'. The man was a retired shinobi, called a sage because of his wisdom and time spent as a hermit, not so much as an actual sage. She was 12 then, and he helped her learn the basic skills. Amegakure was a torn land, at that time, so luckily there was little formal control over these things.

She further developed her 'kekkei genkai' which was what the man called it. Then, when she was 16, she left and wandered towards Amegakure. She enrolled for a squad, and showed her skills. She was considered to be on par with the average genin, so was offered a genin position, and she accepted it for the salaries. Then she made her way up, and up... never quite stopped climbing, until she became the leader of Amegakure - her prowess in battle increasing, as did her tactical skills. Above all it was her diplomatic skills that provided the breakthrough for becoming the leader, and it was her subtle nature that allowed her to remain in the backsight of the other nations - never making a target of herself. Even now, there are some kage's that barely remember the woman, despite her peculiar nature.

Her practices at the shrine allowed her to obtain a greater sense of control over her emotions.

Suppressing the emotions she feels is one thing -- but her wild nature still resides within her, and could be freed if pushed enough.

Her calm and deliberative demeanor allows her to reach decisions on a much higher level of decisionmaking than others.

✗ Selfish.

She suppressed her emotions as a shrinemaiden but cannot suppress her personality -- not entirely. Although she puts the village first and foremost, she does it partially to protect hersef and her status.

✓ Diplomatic.

Whether she is diplomatic for herself, the village or just because that's her personality, she seems capable of swaying the minds of almost anyone she speaks to.

✗ Unknown.

Yogensha has opted to remain in the shadows, and hasn't actively stepped forward -- both within the village and internationally. This has put a hamper on her diplomatic ability.

Her choice to remain in the shadows also means nothing is known about her in general -- strengths, weaknesses, or anything else that could be important.

Although hard to grasp, her presence and being inspires awe and influence over those around her - primarily because she carries herself so confidently.

▸ Kekkei genkai:

Asura no Teisai, Visage of the Asura.

▸ Description:

This style of fighting is typical to Yogensha, as nobody but her has managed to grasp it and utilize it. It is based on the wisdom she has gathered, the desire to learn more about the people in the world, the environment and the power contained within chakra - a path to Enlightenment.

But although the Enlightenment is contained within the style, the style refers more to Indra than Asura, using power, ninjutsu, force and law to uphold the values that is deemed important. As such, 'peace' is merely an extension of 'war' in the sense that peace is formed through war, and war is bred through peace. This philosophy lies at the heart of the style.

If we were to discuss the properties of the style in battle, it could be said that the style is used to take on numerous 'heavenly' qualities. If the style is utilized in full, it makes the user resemble something of a God(dess) in a more human way. Although quite obviously this is nowhere close to the levels of Indra and Asura, it does draw on their powers quite a bit.

Because this is not quite a kekkei genkai but more so a style specific to her, it would be hard to say in general what the description is. For a more detailed understanding, you'd have to consider the individual (custom) jutsu.

▸ Strengths:

The strengths lie particularily in the application of the various jutsu's - they are versatile, and can be used defensively and offensively. This is because they are usually enhancements.

▸ Weaknesses:

You'll have to outsmart, outpower, or simply brute-force your way past her, as the techniques themselves are not particularly inclined towards any element. Another weakness is that despite the visage of a Goddess, she remains very human. Stab her and she will bleed, hurt her and she will cry. She is not a goddess. Just looks like one.

The user will form the tiger seal with two hands, or one if they are that way inclined. Afterwards, the user will 'sprout' four sets of arms that will grow from their back, and are under the full control of the user. This allows them to, for example, form handseals with these arms, or hold weapons. The arms also create new chakra paths inside of them that connect to the original chakra path. Therefore, while this technique seems simple, it's extremely difficult as the body must adjust to the new motor skills required to move the arms, as well as to accustom to the chakra paths. Yogensha has perfected this art, but a new student would likely struggle to learn this technique, if he ever manages to learn it at all.

As it is a manifestation of 'creation' it is a direct representation of Asura, whom was a master of Yang release among other things.

▸ Weaknesses:

As this jutsu is a personal jutsu, there is nothing you can do to overcome or directly disable it -- cutting off the arms or shutting the tenketsu would still work, so treat them like 'regular' arms and you'll come a long way.

▸ Description:

The jutsu starts by forming a tiger seal, one handed or two handed. The user then needs to take their time to gather yin chakra at their chest, to prepare for the next move. A result of the gathering of chakra is that they need to hold the tiger seal for as long as it takes, but also that they begin resembling 'Indra' and thus, a light blue line appears under their eyes.

▸ Weaknesses:

This jutsu has no direct effect on anyone, and therefore cannot be stopped -- however, killing Yogensha will naturally stop the jutsu.

Indra no Guntai (Army of Indra)

▸ Range:

A circle of 10m in diameter around the user.

▸ Description:

This technique is the follow up to Indra no Teisai, using the built up Yin chakra to cast a powerful genjutsu. As Indra embodied Yin chakra, this technique is the embodiment of Indra. The user will perform the genjutsu at the moment they release the tiger seal, with the 'trigger' for the genjutsu being the words she speaks afterwards. These words can, quite literally, be anything as the words are not important, but the sound of her voice is.

After the genjutsu is cast, those under it's effect will be faced with a sudden purple mist setting in, limiting their view rather harshly. It is possible for them to be in the same 'circle' clear of mist with other people. Then, from the mist, a 'clone' of Yogensha will appear. This is the genjutsu in two parts; the mist is one genjutsu, the clone is another, but they act together and are cast and dispelled together.

The genjutsu clone is, in theory, a perfect human, and will fight without mistakes. They will block all the attacks that are thrown at them, but all their attacks will never hit (because, a genjutsu has no 'life' and no physical presence due to the fact that there is no yang chakra) and will therefore always pretend to miss, or to be blocked. As a result, the clone will engage in an engagement that can theoretically last forever.

As a result the target will lose stamina fighting the clone and, if they remain unaware of the genjutsu, can be targeted by anyone. Therefore it is easy for someone (Yogensha for instance) to attack and take down the enemy.

As the genjutsu is convincing and similar to other 'real' techniques (the mist technique from Kirigakure, for example) it would be hard to see through it. But if it is found out somehow, it is possible to dispel it using regular means.

A better way to deal with it would be to realize the clones aren't physical, and ignoring them. However, this leaves the mist, and would force you to fight in the mist with limited vision.

The genjutsu affects allies as well. Allies caught in the genjutsu would need to be freed from it by Yogesha/someone else, or else they will see the mist and Yogensha attacking them as well. Also, deaf people are not susceptible to this genjutsu at all because they cannot hear the trigger.

▸ Weaknesses:

Dispel it, or realize the clones aren't real and ignore them, leaving you in the mist.

Brahmastra
▸ Rank:

Close range.

▸ Description:

Yogensha forms a tiger seal with as many hands as she can spare, and molds chakra inside of, and around, her heart. The more hands she uses, the quicker it goes, although it is possible to use one hand only, lengthening the time it takes to prepare the chakra significantly. After she has enough chakra, her arms lunge forwards and move into the target, at which point they become paralyzed (some say it's because of fear, others say it's because of the poison she supposedly has on her hands, others say it's an effect of her chakra). Yogensha's hands will slowly move into the target until they reach it's targets, and the victim can feel her hands on the inside the entire time, until her hands make a grabbing motion and grab something that they'd never felt before, something that isn't meant to 'be' in the body.

Then Yogensha pulls it out, pulling something that appears to be like a cloud of chakra out of the body of the victim. It's entirely crippling, and even if she's unable to get it all out before being interrupted, it will still do lasting, permanent damage that is not recoverable through regular medical means.

If she manages to pull it all out, the victim enters a dormant state, falling over and laying there - on some occasions they essentially become a plant, cursed to live in a hospital forever, staring forever forwards, never becoming truly alive again. Others simply die straight away or after a few seconds.

Yogensha herself is not truly sure what she is actually pulling out, only that it is her chakra and her nature as a representation of Indra and Asura that allows her to do it - she supposed, therefore, that it is either the soul of a person or their entire chakra reserve that she pulls out. The jutsu is, however, extremely dangerous to the victim, so she has never been able to truly study it, only having used it on occasion.

▸ Weaknesses:

Lack of ability to practice means that Yogensha will most likely not be able to execute this technique at full speed -- giving allies or the shinobi in question time to break free.

Sējizuai (Sage's Eye)

▸ Description:

Focusing their energy on their forehead, an eye made of chakra appears that can move around the head at will. It allows the user to add an additional sight sensor to their array, allowing them more attention-per-minute and thus a greater chance of seeing things coming that would otherwise be lost on the eyes. Since it can move around, however, it can also move behind the user, and thus see where they normally can't see.

It's constraint is, however, that it can't move away from the body.

▸ Weaknesses:

The technique does not have infinite movement and this can be exploited. Just like two eyes, a set of three eyes can be overburdened and distracted.

Although it is in essence a rather common summoning technique, the difficulty lies in that it summons three sets of two weapons all at once, making one appear in each hand of the Asura stance.

The weapons she summons are not special in any way and thus can be overcome through the use of regular ninjutsu or weaponry if one is skilled enough/utilizes chakra flow weapons.

▸ Description:

Using all six arms, the user will perform a summoning jutsu, for which the handseals are different for all three pairs of hands. Hence, this technique could only be used by someone that has mastered the Visage of Asura technique.

This summoning requires no contract - the God of Gods is not a living creature. Rather, it is.. best comparable with a statue inhabited by a spirit, or multiple spirits. It is an ancient thing coming from the age of the first two shinobi - Indra and Asura - that was said to have the spirits of Indra and Asura within it. The truth of that is contestable, but the sheer power and size of the thing speaks volumes.

When the God of Gods is on the battlefield, the allies of the summoner will feel inspired and be inclined to fight harder. Similarly, the enemies will feel demoralized and will have a hard time to continue fighting with the lurking eyes of the God of Gods upon them, judging them for opposing him.

▸ Weaknesses:

The statue is made of wood and, like wood, is susceptible to the things one would normally be expected wood was weak too. Furthermore, it's effects can be withstood by sufficiently strong and/or willful shinobi, allowing them to ignore the effects of the demoralizing statue.

The white bandaid on her nose hides a nasty scar, and though she is not sentimental about it or self conscious, she just prefers to hide it for some reason or another. She also has a big forehead (self insert) that she's rather self aware of, which she typically tries to hide with her fringes, though in batle she sweeps her hair over with her head, pulling the fringes back -- and exposing her large forehead. (Her forehead might or might not be that big, but she thinsk it is.)

She is typically seen riding a large salamander around Amegakure.

Accentuating her lean mean fighting machine physique, she typically wears a tight crop top during work, exposing a sliver of her midriff and giving her a rather wide arc of movement. Her pants are loose and a darker beige color, cutting off with a tapered flexible hem at the knees, showing off a bit of her shins before bandages take over, followed up by high rising shinobi sandals. On her back is a small beige colored pouch that holds her shinobi gear.

Biography

▸ History:

Sadako doesn't know much about her early childhood -- presumably she was born within the borders of the Amegakure territory, but she certainly wasn't from the city itself as she recalls living in a forested rural area where they had rice paddies. She remembers that she had parents -- but either she has forgotten their faces, or the memory of their faces have been beaten out of her by the shinobi employment services -- otherwise known as the orphanage. Unlike the other orphans, Sadako wasn't really an orphan, but rather she was given up by her parents, and while they didn't exactly 'sell her', they did receive reimbursements financially for offering their daughter to the Armed Shinobi Forces of the Village hidden in the Rain. Think of it as early conscription.

This means that she is not exactly a broken child -- quite the opposite, because despite the treatment she's received in the orphanage, she did well overall and thus was mostly exempt from harsh punishment, so in all fairness she likely suffered the same amount as any other shinobi kid who was forced to train by their parents.

This would normally be a good thing -- not being broken, that is.

But it left her without an identity -- she had no clan she could claim descendancy to, because she didn't know her parents and was given an entirely new name by the orphanage. She had no sob-story she could hold on to, simply because, well, she didn't have a shitty life. She didn't feel inclined to be a social butterfly, and had an average amount of friends -- so she couldn't create her identity around being friends with everyone. Rather than accept it, she tried to overcompensate by standing out even more.

Regular training went over well, and it was around her tenth that she managed to unlock what could not reasonably be called a kekkei genkai, but wasn't exactly a hiden either. The innate ability to create chakra rods had always been linked directly to the Rinnegan, though it should've been expected that the process was something that could be replicated otherwise. Once this ability was discovered in her it was expected the Arekuruu would come to take her away -- except that didn't happen. She was considered far too average and lacked the large amount of fast progress that was usually required. Unknown to her, she was discarded almost immediately, and was simply perceived to have a future in the regular forces of Amegakure.

Once she entered the regular academy, training there alongside her training in the orphanage, she began to make more friends with regular people from clans and the likes -- she wasn't a girl that was overly present socially, but she was far from shy, preferring to hang out with her friendgroup instead. Studious and eager to prove herself as a shinobi, she performed well, and finished in the top 30% of the class, which is well above average, but not good enough to be noted by anyone special.

✓ Historian

During her search for an identity, she has poured over records upon records to find out if there were any more people like her. While unfruitful, it has imprinted a historical knowledge into her that is unrivalled among her peers.

✗ Self-imposed Exile

Although she doesn't perceive it as such, she essentially is on a self-imposed exile. She retreats from social situations where she doesn't feel comfortable as she is afraid she doesn't fit in -- even her own friend group ultimately saw Sadako retreat due to this.

✓ Diligent

Her desire to prove herself -- to herself, her peers, and her superiors -- means that she is diligent and will always work hard -- and not just work hard, but also work first. As she says, dumplings over flowers -- utility before form.

✗ Obsessive

Sadako can be rather obsessive, with identity and social issues but also in her labour, which is an extent of her search for an identity and her desire to fit in. Training is healthy, but she is obsessive about it in her attempts to prove herself to her peers, straining herself in the process and doing more damage than good in all likelihood.

✓ Humble

Sadako is not entirely sure about her capabilities and even if she were, she thinks she is sub-par and not good enough, resulting in a humble demeanor where she prefers to stay quiet -- if someone questions her strength, she is more likely to turn her head and agree in silence than to convince them otherwise. Her proof of strength she hopes to show through practice -- not speech.

Lacking an identity.. lacking a clan with status.. and believing that you are not good enough are all part of a cocktail that results in a low self-image.

Her desire to fit in means that she is accepting of everyone, from the lowest misfit to the most arrogant nobleman. This has it's limits (typically limited by time before she withdraws due to not fitting in) but overall she is capable of accepting everyone.

Sadako tends to always assume the worst, questions everything and everyone's motives, and believes that everyone has ulterior motives. While this may be true sometimes, it makes her hard to deal with when it comes to teamwork.

Although it is less a kekkei genkai (having no notable family to speak of, much less shinobi) and also not quite a hiden, it certainly seems to fit the bill of either of those two. Although the chakra receptors previously used by Pain to transmit chakra, as well as make for impromptu weapons, are primarily linked to the Rinnegan, Sadako seems to possess an innate ability to copy the creation of these black rods or black weapons without having the Rinnegan.

These are known by different names depending on which historical figures used them, but ultimately they are the same, whether it is the chakra disruption blade, the chakra receiver, or the black receiver.

▸ Strengths:

The black weapons are made of an extremely resilient material and require extremely strong tools to even scrape off some small dust of the material. As such, it cannot be broken by conventional tools or weaponry such as katana, kunai, or the likes, and in fact, the material is more than likely strong enough to break those items.

Beyond this, the material is conductive to chakra and has the capability to disrupt chakra of those that get stabbed by the weapon, disrupting their ability to flow chakra to the area in question and, if used in several body parts, supressing chakra to such a degree that no chakra flow away from the reserves are possible at all.

Contrary to that, the user is capable of sending chakra to these rods remotely, allowing them to perform numerous jutsu this way.

▸ Weaknesses:

Although not susceptible to standard elemental means (katon, doton, etc) the material is sensitive to raw chakra and, using a style such as the gentle fist, it is possible to snap or break the material. Furthermore, the black rods that are lodged inside of an enemy are not sealed into it, meaning they can be removed by pulling them out -- though the pain of techniques used on them might be too much for the victim themselves to do it -- by the victim themselves or an ally.

After the victim has been impaled by at least one, and preferably more chakra receivers, the user will form the snake seal followed by the horse seal, and hold it there. This will send chakra into the black rods, which will then heat up slightly (not enough to cause pain) as the chakra is sent through the receivers, before they cause a painful sensation in the area around the receiver. This is best used on areas like the arms or legs, but can also be used elsewhere -- the pain is strong enough to debilitate an opponent, and from 2 chakra receivers onwards, it is unlikely that the target will be able to stand up.

▸ Weaknesses:

The way this jutsu works makes it extremely susceptible to chakra disruption one way or another. While the chakra stream itself will be hard to stop (it transfers near instantly for as long as the seal is maintained), preventing the user from holding the seal will stop the jutsu. Removal of the chakra receiver one way or another would also work -- for example breaking them or removing them.

After the victim has been impaled by at least one, and preferably more chakra receivers, the user will form the snake seal and then extend their hands forwards towards the target -- as if they are pushing an object away. As their chakra flows into the rods, and transfers to the victim, they will be cast under a genjutsu that disorients the target greatly, and reverses all intake of senses -- things that are on the left move slightly to the right, smells don't smell the same anymore, hearing is warped or completely changed.

The more chakra receivers are impaled in the enemy, the stronger the effects and, because of this, the more warped certain senses get (hearing goes from scrambled but audible hearing to straight up hearing different sentences, for example). If this effect is great enough, one may even induce vomiting from pure sensory overloard and confusion.

▸ Weaknesses:

Although the jutsu functions the same as the Heavenly Debilitation technique, there are some key differences, as this involves a genjutsu. Because of this, stopping the chakra flow will only work if the genjutsu is maintained constantly (by the user continuing to have their hands outstretched towards the victim). But this will not take the person out of the genjutsu. Destroying the receivers, dealing pain to the victim (like a squeeze or punch) or killing the user of the technique would result in the end of the genjutsu, but if the receivers are not removed, the jutsu can simply be recast.

The user forms a tiger seal, before stretching their hands into the ground and pushing their palm against it. The user then sends their black rods into the ground where they begin to expand outwards towards the victim, having several offshoots before emerging from the ground, rapidly sealing the victim in the prison. A fast escape is possible, of course, but once the prison is complete, it is nigh-impossible to escape without breaking the prison. Once the technique is complete, the user breaks the rod at their hands and can stand up again.

▸ Weaknesses:

The prison lacks any real offensive use at the moment, as jutsu and people can't go out of the prison but neither can jutsu or people go into the prison. So, it is more used for capturing people for interrogation or temporarily halting their advance.

The prison can be broken open with raw chakra attacks, such as the gentle fist -- though flowing chakra into the rods wouldn't do much as the rods suppress chakra.

Shibo is one of the salamanders that possess the power to perform ninpo, shinobi arts. Although he is not as strong as Hanzo of the Salamander's Kuro Sanshōuo, and not as large, though it is certainly a creature worthy of respect. It stands at about two and a half metres in height and two metres in width, though due to it's large tail, it reaches up to about 5 metres in total length if not more.

It has the capability to carry two people in it's mouth if they're standing, and three if they're sitting down. Sadako, however, mostly rides him on his head. The salamander is seemingly not very intelligent -- incapable of speech -- but seems to understand what is expected of it, like a well-trained attack dog.

It's speed is easily underestimated and while it isn't as fast as a hounddog or another animal, it can rack up a decent top speed if given a distance to reach higher speeds. This changes in the water -- it's easily one of the fastest creatures in the world when it's in the water.

It's abilities are mostly just the spewing of water at a very high pressure, enabling him to shoot people away. Similarly, it can use it's tail to smash people around, which would normally not be so scary, except the salamander has the ability to harder it's tail, giving it a much bigger 'oomph' than otherwise expected.

Lastly, it seems to heal itself through the use of water -- drawing it in through it's skin, making it a perfect animal in rainy or wet areas like Kirigakure or Amegakure, but it suffers greatly when it comes to much more dry areas like Sunagakure.

Sakana frequently dresses in more or less standard Amegakure garb for jonin. He prefers to wear black wifebeaters with his flak vest over it, with skin tight gloves that reach all the way up to his biceps. It leaves just a tiny bit of his shoulder uncovered. Similarly his gloves have finger cutouts so he can still use his feeling senses to work. Not like Shinobi are known for their understanding of fingerprints anyway, so it's not like he has to worry about leaving fingerprints during his work.

He wears the standard shinobi slacks with shinobi footwear. It's standard issue and thus, standard wear for him. During his freetime he slips into something more casual like a sweater and slacks, but overall he doesn't really find himself pre-occupied with fashion.

On the other hand he takes good care of his body - not just in terms of fitness, but also in less direct ways. Combing his hair, washing it, all that stuff is something Sakana (and the entire Uragiri clan for that matter) takes great care and pride in. Something interesting for you to know, I suppose.

Biography

▸ History:

Sakana was born in Amegakure and immediately enrolled in the Shinobi Academy once he came of age to do so -- his father being a teacher at the academy (well loved by children for his strange, but cool appearance) and his mother being part of the border-guard units, it seemed like a logical step to enroll him. The Uragiri clan itself was a clan that was only partially shinobi in nature, and who were largely shunned in 'regular' life due to their uncanny appearances, but when it was time to enter war they were suddenly well liked due to their populous clan that could provide large amounts of shinobi, despite their otherwise high percentage of civilian members.

The Uragiri had no problems integrating into Amegakure at it's creation despite their strange appearances, and were accepted as hard working clansmen who were willing to do any job they were handed - they were always an industrious people specializing in forestry and farming, but seemed to be almost natural craftsmen too, and it wasn't long before the Uragiri had built up a quarter of their own complete with a clan house where they performed all sorts of menial tasks for the benefit of Amegakure as a whole.

The shinobi underwent a similar process, falling in line quickly and becoming a part of the shinobi forces, although their initial numbers meant they made a mediocre addition at best. They were not exactly famous for their skill either, excelling only at averageness it seemed. Luckily or unluckily for Sakana, depending on your viewpoints, he was raised as a shinobi by his parents, both of whom were jonins at some point in time, and who drilled him rather hard for Uragiri standards. No, this isn't the story of a genius coming to birth by his parents forcing him to use kunais at the age of three. They were still loving parents and did their best - they just trained him really hard as well.

Partially that was because Sakana had a natural drive to improve. He was a natural at being a shinobi too and in the academy did rather well for himself, finishing in the top 10%. As a genin he did standard genin jobs for that time and saw some action, and was promoted to chunin after an incident in which he was forced to take over a leadership role after their jonin had been caught in a particularly nasty genjutsu. Although the mission failed and the targets got away with the loot, Sakana was praised for getting the jonin out of there and preventing the genjutsu from taking hold on his team. Not a particularly heroic story all things considered, but all in all a decent reason for promotion.

During the intermission between his promotion to chunin, and his sure-to-follow jonin promotion, he met a wise man who was travelling through Amegakure while visiting shrines. As Amegakure was home to the Children of the Prophesy some 150 or so years earlier, it seemed like a natural place to stop and rest for the journey. While the man was there Sakana learned the true story of the Sage of the Six Paths and began forming his own theory on his life, death and fate was decided. The Sage was looking over everyone but not everyone was given the same degree of skill at birth, and not everyone progressed at the same rate despite hard training and work. That had to mean something. He didn't worry about it, saying only that fate had been sealed and not even the greatest forces in the world could move it now. If he was destined to be a jonin in the future, it would be so. If the Sage wills it.

The Uragiri clan is relatively unknown, even in Amegakure. They provide mostly standard civilians in Amegakure who work in the industrial plants creating metal and tools. They all stand out, however, due to the black and yellow eyes that run in their family - any Uragiri clan member is recognizable by their eyes. This trait, while genetic, can be recessive and there are very few Uragiri clan members who do not have these eyes - but they do exist. In such a case the clan members can be identified by their clan icon, which is a set of black and white koi circling each other. The image is fitting, given that their eyes give them a somewhat fishy appearance.

The clan is primarily (90%) just pure civilians that mostly work in shops or the industry. The remaining 10% are shinobi, like Sakana. And, while they are good at what they do, they are typically not very well renowned - not because nobody likes them or so, but just because they are pretty average all together. For that, Sakana is pretty much the one exception. In doing so, he has also become the clans' pride, more or less. That in and of itself isn't saying much, because even being above-average would make you a point of pride in the Uragiri clan.

▸ Personality:

✓ Brave.

Sakana's over-reliance on fate to guide him means that he is brave to the point of stupidity, often jumping in and relying on his innate abilities to see him through. This is not to say he is without tactic or strategy, more so than that once he has made a plan, he will put his 100% into that plan, and see it through no matter what.

✗ Reckless.

Easily perceived as a more fitting word for 'stupid bravery,' Sakana can be rather reckless in his pursuit of success and doesn't shy away from injury (or death if need be) to achieve his goals.

✓ Straight forward

Sakana isn't one to be subtle in what he means or thinks and will bluntly state what he believes, allowing him to transfer his ideas easily and without much hassle in trying to cushion things or beat around the bush.

✗ Rude

The same straight-forwardness also means that at time he can say things that are perceived as rude, mean or both, which is not really an ideal quality for a sensei that is meant to usher in the next age of shinobi.

✓ Hard-working

Fate is not an excuse to cease working, as Sakana understands that being a hard worker is also a part of faith. He has taken this onto himself and has worked endlessly from the day he was enrolled to the current day, to ensure that he could follow his fate.

✗ Greedy

At times, Sakana can be seen as greedy. He has the mentality of 'I take what is mine, and then I take some more' when he is allowed to -- rummaging through dead shinobi's pockets for trinkets and other goods isn't uncommon to him. Not entirely negative (if he killed something, he deserves the spoils.. right?) it does leave a sort of stain on his reputation -- if he were ever to become better known internationally, they would no doubt frown at this habit.

✓ Decisive

Not someone to toil a decision more than a few seconds in a heated moment, he is not one to get hung up on emotions -- fate takes care of that for him -- and thus he can be very decisive when he needs to be. Cutting a man's throat is not something that is hard to him and though he is not a bloodthirsty shinobi gone mad with bloodlust, he is certainly not a very emotional person.

✗ Unempathetic

He would sooner kick a student of his in the ribs when they're down to teach them that combat (and life) isn't fair, than help them back up and tell them 'good job' even if they lost.

Sakana's motives are linked closely to the following 5 things: fate, fame and glory, respect, godhood. Despite his belief in fate (and the uncontrollable nature of it) he believes that he is destined for great things and is worthy of fame, respect and glory, and has worked hard to obtain it. A secret, but very present motive is that Sakana aspires to achieve 'shinobi godhood' and to surpass even those legendary shinobi like the sannin -- to be as great as Uzumaki Nagato, Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke, Uchiha Madara and all their peers.

This Doton technique forms the basis of a three-nature combination. The Bowl jutsu causes the target to be encased in a dome of earth around them, which then lifts up off of the earth on four earthen pillars. The jutsu is simple. There really isn't much to it - it doesn't kill, damage, or harm you, it just traps you inside the dome. That's bad, right?

Well you can break free. Use S, A, B, or C-rank lightning based jutsu's to break through, or use sheer force if you're really that strong. Just do it in time before the next part of the combo.

This Suiton based jutsu is the next step. Thought being trapped in a dome of earth was bad enough? WRONG! Through a hole in the top of the dome that briefly opens at the command of the user, the user then spews water into the 'soup bowl' until it's full of water. Congratulations, you'll now be drowning!

▸ Weaknesses:

Since this is a suiton jutsu, you could possibly use wind to create a bubble of air for yourself to breathe, though it's not drowning you need to worry about. At this stage of the combo it becomes more or less impossible to use electricity to free yourself from the dome as you'd electrocute yourself. Unless you're willing to risk that. Sheer force would still be enough to break free, but since water slows down movement, it'd likely have to come from the outside.

Or another solution. Maybe you can think of something. Better hurry before the next step, which is..

The final step in the three jutsu combo. True to it's name, this is the step that probably is the most dangerous for whomever gets trapped. Using the Katon nature, the user lights a fire underneath the earthen soup bowl/dome that they created, beginning to boil it at an alarming and dangerous rate for whomever is inside. Drown in the soup made of your own body! Muahaha! Ahem. There is no real defence for this step, if you are trapped.

▸ Weaknesses:

For outsiders it's possible to blow out the fire using wind jutsu, to quench it with a water jutsu, or to simply free those in the bowl with force. Electricity is possible but ill-advised since you'd probably electrocute your friends inside the bowl.

These seals contain fire jutsu up to the B rank Katon: Gōka Mekkyaku (can contain smaller ones like the regular Gōkakyū no Jutsu). Due to the small size of the seals, the jutsu are not quite as large as your average great fire annihilation, but the flames burn just as hot.

The technique is easily hidden and it'd require some real good eyesight to see these seals. Similarly, because the jutsu uses a standard jutsu, it is not quite apparent that they're using sealing to be used, and it's easy to mistake these for a jutsu being used without handseals. As such, finding out that seals are used in this technique will be extremely hard for anyone that doesn't have specifically good eyesight. The seals are activated by flowing jutsu to them to 'unfurl' them, and then allows the user to spew out the technique.

The three seals are aligned from front to back saying, hot! hot! hot!

▸ Weaknesses:

Adequately dodging the technique is easier the further away from you Sakana is -- the technique is still a simple Great Fireball Technique, so there are no additional things to account for except for the very sudden ability to summon the fireball. This technique will likely catch the opponent off guard -- which is what the difficulty is. Adequate response is still possible. Water also works well.

In order to be accepted to anything in life, there are typically some sort of requirements before you can be admitted to whatever you're requesting to be part of. This includes the shinobi academy in Amegakure no Sato -- and the roleplay too. Below are some stipulations in what we are looking for in a character:

• Resides in Amegakure and has resided there for the duration of his/her enrollment in the academy
• Fresh graduate, between ages 13-14 (timeskip will occur later, so no worry - you're not stuck playing a baby forever)

Hello, and welcome to Naruto: Black Sun, a new Naruto roleplay hosted by yours truly, Odin. After countless RP's in the Naruto roleplaying community on Roleplayerguild, it is time for yet another installment of the Naruto universe in roleplay format that sticks to the roots of the Naruto universe.

The aim is to recreate Naruto's appealing mood. The life of a shinobi isn't about roses, and it certainly isn't about all things good in life. Instead, it is about sacrifice. Because at it's core, that is what being a shinobi means - sacrifice. Sacrificing your 'normal' life to become a warrior and fight in the name of the village, to protect it's interest and keep the village safe.

And, if you just so happen to enjoy being a weapon, a tool, a cog in the machine of warfare... then all the better, because it means you can enjoy your own sacrifice.

This is reflected in the premise of the roleplay - it follows canon events entirely and then skips ahead several years - one hundred and fifty years to be precise - which gives us a convenient method of getting rid of otherwise problematic canon elements. Naruto and Sasuke existed, but obviously are no longer around. Neither are their offspring. Anything after that? Well, it's vanished into obscurity. As they say, the rest is history, and in this roleplay, we can take that very literally. But Odin, you say, how does that even represent the mood of Naruto?

Simply put, the world hasn't continued as Naruto and Sasuke no doubt intended. Yes, the curse of hatred is gone, and that is very nice, but hatred itself still exists. The Five Great Shinobi Villages didn't exactly keep getting along. By pretending everyone gets along, the problems only worsen, and there is a moment where all those pent up frustrations.. get released. They pop. And that explosion will be bigger than any previous war.

Nations are like a match. They are lit, burn in a great intense flame, and continue burning, until the fuel is exhausted and they slowly, very slowly, fade away and ultimately extinguish. The only proof of their existence then, the ruins of their people if you will, is the smoke. But even the smoke slowly fades away. And then, nothing remains.

After Naruto and Sasuke unified the Shinobi nations and the great war was won, there was a brief sliver of hope. Hope that the countries would remain unified and at peace. But as time went on, the smaller shinobi nations went unrewarded for their sacrifices during this war - and their contributions to the war effort. If anything, it seemed that the great shinobi nations thought that these smaller villages should consider themselves lucky to have been able to contribute, should consider themselves lucky for continuing to exist.

There was no attention paid to their suffering, and Amegakure was hit perhaps the worst of all. With Nagato dead, Pain left without a host, and Konan sacrificing herself in an attempt to rip the head off the snake that was the Akatsuki, the village was left without leadership. A power vacuum had formed and with the looming threat of war with other-worldy forces, this put Amegakure in a position that they could not recover from. It was, perhaps, only slightly ironic that the village that had been formed specifically because of their lack of power to fight back against the great shinobi nations would now suffer once again because none of the Kage's paid any attention to their struggles once again.

The next one hundred and fifty years would be spent filling the vacuum, with warlords, mercenaries and demagogues taking up the mantle of being the leader of Amegakure. Internal struggle would dictate the political sphere in Amegakure for the next hundred years as the world changed around them.

Amegakure lost it's edge, it's industrial capabilities beginning to stagnate under the mounting pressure of the growing strife within the nations, with the nations surrounding them catching up. It took a hundred years for a leader to arrive who could take charge, and enforce a more rigid political system of elections for leadership positions within Amegakure rather than cutthroat politics.

Fifty years later, Amegakure is a shell of it's former self, but still stands strong, alone, in a world that is no longer the peaceful cooperative environment Naruto and Sasuke had intended, but rather, had returned to it's roots.

One hundred fifty years after the Fourth Great Shinobi War ended, a new generation of genin has graduated. Are they ready to take destiny into their hands? Can they do what it takes to become a shinobi of remarkable talent? One hundred fifty yers after the Fourth Great Shinobi War ended, a new threat looms on the horizon. A threat that goes unnoticed by the great shinobi nations, a threat that requires the full attention of the village.

The timeline begins where Naruto and Sasuke together managed to defeat the Otsutsuki threat, defeating Kaguya and effectively ending the war. Tsunade resigns as Hokage, Kakashi takes up the mantle and continues to foster the networks that Naruto had built. Once Naruto becomes Hokage, the Shinobi world experiences their 'golden age' or 'dark age' depending on who you ask. The times were peaceful, there was no major incidents and even small scale skirmishes and conflicts were quickly and easily resolved. Gradually all Great Shinobi Nations increased their dedication and commitment to the union of shinobi nations, though all of them remained sceptical.

Following Naruto's passing, and the disappearance of Sasuke, a new hokage was elected. A man of the Shimura clan, namely Genji Shimura, and thus relative of the late Danzou Shimura, creator of the ROOT foundation, took over this mantle under the promise of 'righting the wrongs of previous generations,' something commonly understood to mean the wrongs of his ancestor, Danzou Shimura.

Opposite to that, Genji Shimura slowly dialed back the commitments to the union of villages, causing the union to become more unstable. As the union had decreased competition between the various shinobi nations, there was a severe lack in issues that needed shinobi to be resolved, and thus a lack of clientele and jobs for the villages. Genji had hoped that through slowly pulling back from the union he could diminish these effects and gain back some work opportunities.

It was not, however, Genji Shimura that broke the pact. Following the death of Naruto, Raikage A from Kumogakure saw the direction Konohagakure was going in, and saw the storm hanging overhead. With no sociable and likeable characters like Naruto in leadership positions, A withdrew from the union entirely, claiming that Kumogakure was the strongest of all villages and had a right to self determination.

This caused the other villages to also withdraw, and signalled the end of the union of villages and was a prelude to the war that would come. Although it A never lived long enough to see the dawn of war, he lived long enough to see the chaos he'd sown, perhaps intentionally, and when he passed, his last words imparted on Killer Bee the wisdom to leave Kumogakure - words that Killer Bee did not heed.

The new Raikage was a shinobi by the name of Hamda, soon renamed to A. His first act as the new Raikage was the assassination of Killer Bee and the order to capture the Eight Tails and transplant it into his own body. With Killer Bee dead, the Eight Tails went on a rampage and destroyed the shinobi that were meant to capture him, before escaping into the ocean. It was said that the shockwaves of his plunge into the water could be felt in the Kirigakure harbour.

Following the disastrous attempt of capturing the Eight Tails, Hamda blamed Kirigakure for the failure and accused them of sending ANBU to steal the Eight Tails. Whether it was true or not, war was declared and within two days of the declaration of war, Kirigakure and Kumogakure forces clashed on the border.

Citing the former union of shinobi villages, Kirigakure called on Konohagakure, Sunagakure and Iwagakure for aid in the war. Sunagakure declined the call to arms on the basis that they could not fund a war at that very moment but promised the delivery of a shipment of weapons. Iwagakure did not wish to anger their militarily superior neighbors and declined the call to arms, proclaiming that the union of shinobi nations was no more and that they thus had no obligation to help. Konohagakure accepted the call to arms, however, but it was quickly proven that this was merely a symbolic show of support to the nation of Kirigakure as no Konohagakure forces fought Kumogakure forces during this war.

The war never reached a conclusion, and the battles reached a stalemate. A white peace was signed though the rivalry continued to exist. The following ten years were marked by a period of increasing restlessness, growing disparity and tension between the nations, and a flashpoint event that ignited the Fifth Great Shinobi War.

The Fifth Great Shinobi War was characterized by a lack of awareness as to what sparked this sudden onslaught of world-wide combat and death. The previous years of peace, however short, had left many shinobi dissatisfied with this new status quo and, in desperate attempts to bring back the old political situation, they took to rebellious acts of defiance against their kage in an effort to spark war. Although initially unsuccesful when the union of shinobi still existed, these efforts proved to be more succesful with the advent of Kumogakures leaving the union, and other villages following suit.

Because of these dissident shinobi sparking war, it is unsure what the real cause for war was. For Kumogakure, they cited the retrieval of the eight-tails, which belonged to them according to a self-imagined law. For Iwagakure, they cited the retaking of land from Sunagakure, lands that were theirs according to arbitrary records that had been conjured up by them. Sunagakure cited self-defense, but later adjusted their war goals to include the seizure of power from Iwagakure and Kumogakure to prevent future aggressive behaviour. Konohagakure believed that they could play the role of world-police, like they had in the past, but were quickly shunned by other nations for their capitalization on the situation, and their neutral forces were treated with aggression, ensuring that Konohagakure would fight back against the aggressors. Kirigakure started their war to retrieve one of the Seven Swords of the Mist, one of which had fallen into the hands of a missing nin that had escaped from Kirigakure, and had taken refuge in Konohagakure, taking the sword with him.

The most important factor in this was that there were no alliances - everyone fought everyone. Most of the battles took place in border regions, with Konohagakure enduring a six-month siege of their village at one point before breaking free from the siege after a prolonged battle between the Raikage and Hokage, one which neither side won or lost.

Although the war was a terrible affair for all parties involved, as none of them gained anything from the war, it was a godsend for smaller villages like Takigakure, Yoshigakure, and Amegakure. The fact that all the five great nations were involved in war meant that clients were less likely to visit them -- as they were preoccupied -- and instead go to one of these small villages, who profited off of this war.

The war concluded with the Battle of Naruto Bridge where the five kages and their personal bodyguards met and fought a battle that would last over 8 hours. This battle resulted in the death of the Hokage, Kazekage, and Raikage, and after new kage's had been elected for all the countries who lost theirs, a peace treaty was drawn up which stipulated only small concessions, with most countries retaining their original borders. The Kirigakure missing nin was handed over to Kirigakure, though the sword was kept. All other involved parties received next to nothing.

The Skirmish Era was the period after the Fifth Great Shinobi War until the current day, during which most major wars that include three or more great shinobi nations have ended. Although wars still ocasionally occur, they typically are between 2 parties only. Other forms of combat between villages are limited to skirmishes and conflicting mission interests, such as one side playing bodyguard to an assassination target that is to be assassinated by another village.

Although relatively devoid of large-scale dramatic events, the Skirmish Era has been the era in which Amegakure retained it's power rather than lose it, like other smaller villages that seem to have vanished.

Fifty years before the current timeline, Amegakure stabilized, which was a major event as the otherwise chaotic nation squashed between other greater nations finally stood a chance at preventing them from preying on Amegakure's clientele, and the industry of Amegakure began picking up and churning out wares for exports again. The first leader of Amegakure was a man previously unknown, who had no great powers but was remarkably charismatic, able to prevent others from taking power away from him by reforming the political system to be more like that of Konohagakure and other nations, favoring elections over power struggles and factions.

Following the period of his leadership he ultimately resigned and lived out the rest of his life as a retired shinobi. The elections held after his resignation gave the leadership to a man, Hoshiyo, who stayed the course and continued improving Amegakure. Under his leadership the Shinobi Academy was greatly improved from a pure-combat crash course to a course that also favored strategic, tactical and academic purposes.

Under Hoshiyo the Arashi no Shugo-sha (嵐の守護者), the Stormguardians, were created, most often shortened instead to the Arekuruu (荒れ狂う) as a result of their tendency to be brutally effective at their job. The Arekuruu were modeled after the Konohagakure no Sato's Root (Ne) organization but lacked their 'Danzo' who assumed ultimate control, and instead were an ultra-secret organization that was covered in more shrouds and lies than even the ANBU.

During Hoshiyo's reign, it became more and more evident that smaller villages were being wiped off the map, with communications between these villages sometimes suddenly vanishing. Upon investigation of these incidents it became clear that there was more going on, as there were frequently marks of battle on the former locations of these villages, leaving behind only ruins and smoldering buildings. Despite the investigation of the Arekuruu into the incidents, no clues were found as to who committed these acts of violence, leaving any assumptions up in the air as to who was causing these massacres.

Until his death, only Hoshiyo knew of the Arashi no Shugo-sha, and after his death he entrusted their care to the next leader of Amegakure. A new leader for Amegakure was elected only five months ago, with Hoshiyo having ruled for 24 years before he died of a tumour.

Amegakure no Sato (雨隠れの里)

In recent years Amegakure has been characterized by a growing industrial capability and, following that, a more organized and rigorous military that is capable of filling mission slots with greater numbers, and following the re-work of Amegakure's shinobi academy system, with a much higher efficiency, thus increasing the number of missions Amegakure is capable of performing. Both of these factors have lead to a higher standard of living within Amegakure, primarily because the profession of being a shinobi has become more attractive since the industries present in Amegakure can function at the same, or higher level, without the same need for manpower they had twenty years ago.

Despite this they are still largely a impoverished and unstable country. Despite recent efforts, Amegakure suffers from approximately one hundred years of suffering due to the unstable political situation and a lack of care from the Five Great Shinobi Nations. Although they were no longer treated as a lapdog or a simple lap of territory, they are not supported in any way and, asides from an increase in sales of weaponry during the Fifth Great Shinobi War.

General problems in Amegakure are, thus, a result of a hundred years of chaos within the lands. Luckily for the leaders of Amegakure, citizens are happy with any positive change, and a drastic change is not directly required, allowing them to systematically repair the damage done to Amegakure's already fragile economy system.

Current problems are related mostly to the looming threat of foreign entities that potentially have targeted Amegakure, and despite Arekuruu attempts to stop these entities, they have so far proven to be unsuccesful.

Iwagakure no Sato (岩隠れの里)

A rolling stone never gathers moss, but for Iwa - they weren't exactly rolling through the times so well. Their population, and defense remained all unscathed in the years that passed - but their economy was fruitfully failing. Though, this was nothing exactly new for any of the residents there. It would be due to its illustrious past dating back over 150+ years ago - that nothing positive would be produced in the future among other villages. Once the warring period had ended, and peace was brought to the land, all seemed well for many years.But with the fall of the 4th Tsuchikage, and rise of the 5th - Iwa again become a target of disdain for most other nations. With the Union of the Nations ending thanks to the newest Hokage - Genji. Iwa began to work more on its defense. During this time as well, the 5th Tsuchikage would delve into the past and bring about a team of mercenaries that were all but forgotten in the peaceful period. These mercenaries carrying out missions to bring in resources and money to the village.

With this news spread - it lead for greater tensions between its surrounding nations. Kumo now proclaiming its strength, amongst the release of the 8 tails - would lead Iwa to send mercenaries and shinobi to Kumo in an attempt to seal the beast for themselves. But alas, this attempt wasn't successful - the 8 tails escaped the clutches of Kumo and Iwa. Due to Iwa's mercenaries being spotted in Kumo, they would essentially go AWOL and begin to attack Kumo shinobi without direct order from the 5th. Their attempt was futile, and they were quickly wiped out. This would lead for a meeting between the Kages of Kumo and Iwa - and a small peace treaty was made amongst the two. But now, tensions were higher than ever before between the villages and would remain that way for years to come. So, when Kiri asked for their aide in war against Kumo - Iwa declined rather quickly, as to not anger Kumo or receive a greater hit to their Village. So with that, Iwa sat back working on their defenses, yet again.

After this speck on the timeline - fast forward a few years. Iwa had grown more poverty stricken, and many families found themselves rationing out food as famine over took the Village of Stone. Mercenaries and Shinboi were still sent around the nations in any attempts to bring back money, and resources for the economy - but it seemed they almost couldn't keep with the growing demand. So with a new Kage in place, as the last became 'mysteriously ill' and passed, the 6th had a better outlook and view for the Village. But reversing the damages from the last Kage would be so much a struggle - that they would have to ask for a helping hand from other villages - namely not Kumo, or Suna. The villagers all but wanted to forget the past that the 5th had brought upon them, hoping the 6th would lead them in a more positive and filling future. Any newcomers to the village are welcomed, but it is more fear that drives this facade than actual kindness. As the villagers know their weakness, and hope to not displease any possible income of resources/money to the village.

Kirigakure no Sato (霧隠れの里)

Kirigakure of the Land of Water has come far from their Bloody Mist reputation. Kiri was one of the least effected villages after the fall of the Union, especially due to the strong reformations the village had went under following the Bloody Mist. Economically, Kirigakure is vastly wealthy with trade coming in and out of the village and Land of Water – though there is no good way to put the vast wealth to use since Kirigakure is sorely lacking in natural resources. Thusly, the hidden village focused on acquiring power after the fall of the Union.

The Fifth Mizukage, Terumī Mei, allegedly sent anbu to steal the eight tails from Kumogakure’s possession to undermine the power of the new Raikage. This led to a war between the two countries and the Fifth Mizukage asked for aid from the other major villages, hoping to use the last dredges of the Union to her advantage. Only Konohagakure answered the call to arms and were little help. There came a stalemate in the war after the death of the Fifth Mizukage from natural causes and the new Mizukage, Kazuhiru, rose to power. Under Kazuhiru, Kirigakure eventually reached slight peace, though there were rising tensions among the villages.

Kirigakure entered the Fifth Shinobi World War to retrieve the lost sword of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist, which had fallen into Konohagakure’s hands. Their entrance into the war was slightly helped by the fact that Kiri had problems with Kumo from the past war and Konoha for being little help in the war added with their pesky policing habits. At the conclusion of the war, Kirigakure was left in uproar from the peace treaty that led to Konoha keeping the missing sword. Since then, reclaiming the sword from Konoha has been a constant goal on Kiri’s agenda and many attempts have been made, though none have been successful.

Kazuhiru retired in the beginning of the Skirmish Era after successfully taking over islands belonging to Kumo. He was succeeded by his sororal nephew, Shima, whose main goals are to fully restore the Seven Swordsman of the Mist and to better Kiri’s national defenses. The main reasoning of increasing national defense is due to Kumo attempting to invade Kiri’s islands every few months. As well as retrieve the missing sword and fend off Kumo, the Seventh Mizukage has turned his attentions into rectifying the latest problem to crop up. The other villages have been restricting hunter-nin traffic through their respective territories, obstructing their duties, as the villages are paranoid that the hunter-nin could be spying. Unfortunately, this means a great deal of Kiri missing-nin are running about, unpoliced.

Konohagakure no Sato (木ノ葉隠れの里)

Konohagakure has managed to maintain the status quo, protecting their position as top dog of the shinobi nations. Their closest rival in terms of military is Kumogakure, who out-numbers them but generally produces shinobi of largely inferior quality. Economically, their closest rival is Kirigakure, though Konohagakure has much more room to expand and utilize their finances than Kirigakure, ultimately meaning Konohagakure has taken the lead in that area.

Despite a seemingly perfect and idyllic society, Konohagakure continuously struggles to produce enough shinobi to keep up with the demand, as their central position amidst the villages means that they receive missions from all over the world. This in turn means that they need a lot of shinobi -- shinobi they do not have. So, genin are now being sent off on missions that would typically be reserved for starter chunins, and while this can provide a serious boost to the experience of any young genin, the mission injury has been raised by a large 112% where as the mission death rate has been increased by 9% from past years, a significant development that might end up only hurting Konohagakure in the future.

Due to trade flowing almost naturally through the land of fire, a large amount of these missions are focused around escorting merchants and traders, and destroying bandit encampments, and as such, it is not hard to see why injury- and deathrates have gone up.

Furthermore, the nine tailed fox has returned to it's roots and has become arrogant again, especially now that a shinobi he considers weak has been chosen to keep him locked away. The bijuu so far has not threatened anyone, but if the threat is not contained and alleviated then it is possible that the bijuu might break free from it's container and once again destroy Konohagakure.

Kumogakure no Sato (雲隠れの里)

“Sometimes I wish I was a cloud... Just floating along, going wherever the breeze takes me.”

Kumogakure - The Village Hidden by Clouds, located in the Land of Lightning was a force to be reckon with in the future - rather thanks to the new Raikage, they believed they were. The population stayed stable for the past 150 years, no crazy baby booms or lack there of. Military seemed to have upgraded over the years, again - thanks to Raikage A. Enforcing stricter training policies, and upgrading the teachings of the Academy to produce finer soldiers. It would be their economy that would suffer in the past 150 years, with all extra money seeming to go to their defense, it was leaving little for the village itself to use. Not that their economy took a major hit, but things weren't as flourishing as years prior.

With the loss of the 8 Tails, and other Villages suspected of trying to capture the beast for themselves, Kumo has constantly placed itself in turmoil with other nations. Almost acting like a child and trying to point fingers at anyone but themselves for these small scale problems that appear between the nations. Kumo namely is recognized in a negative tone these days - as many Nations still see them as the ones who started the turmoil between all. This trickling down through the ranks, and causing their Shinobi and Villagers to treat anyone from Kumo with a cold shoulder.

It would be during A's reign as Raikage that Kumo would see itself change quiet rapidly to fit the agenda that he wanted. Which was an agenda that needed to be sorted, and filled as the continuous ridiculous arguments and bouts of war continued - being sparked on Kumo's end. There seemed to be a split amongst the village of how they felt towards the Raikage, most believing that he would send them forth to power, and rise above the other nations. Those who believed that Kumo should've never backed out of the Union - but these voices were low, and remained unheard.

After the passing of Raikage A during the Battle at Naruto Bridge, a new Raikage took order but didn't seem to deviate from the path of A. The newest Raikage being A's old right-hand man, so of course the ideals didn't stray very far from his. The newest Raikage's goal still to seize the 8 tails, and prove to the other Nations the strength that is the Kumo military, whilst playing nice. Of course this talk is only known about in the higher rankings. Villagers remain unaware that the Raikage and other officials are still on the offense of the new Peace Treaty. Of course, with this train of thought - it is still causing Kumo to retain their lackluster state of affairs, and not progress at all. They seem to be holding a very stagnant way of life these days.

Currently, Kumo has a very mediocre life style amongst its inhabitants. They are not in the richest state, but also are not lacking any immediate needs. Because of the past and current Raikage's recent decisions - they are not traveling and doing any trades with neighboring villages/countries. No new product is coming in, or leaving the village - most trades are done inside, behind its own walls. Because Kumo seems to now be a homebody village, the Villagers are becoming more crafty and learning new ways to grow the economy themselves. Though, it is at a very poor, slow rate - they do not view themselves as weak. Essentially almost taking the train of thought from Raikage A. Kumo is currently floating along amongst the Skirmish era, still picking small fights with other nations - they're just not ending in wars, or battles. More or less arguments between officials, and even villagers. Continuing the disdain from other villages towards Kumo.

Sunagakure no Sato (砂隠れの里)

Sunagakure is the hidden village located in the Land of Wind and one of the Five Great Shinobi Villages. It is in the midst of the desert which acts as a deterrent for any invasions and is one of the best protected hidden villages with large walls surrounding the village. Their strong security is not protecting much, though. Due to being in such harsh terrain, not many clients flock to Suna which has limited the amount of trade for the village and has left the economy worse for wear. Without the Shinobi union to help them with trade and equal share of clientele, an unstable economy and much poverty has crippled Suna over the years. For some time, Suna fell into the background as they tried to stabilize their failing economy. When Kirigakure asked them for their aid, Suna had to refuse the call to arms as they were unable to support a war. Though they could not join the fray, the Kazekage supplied metal and weapons to Kiri in hopes of fostering a relationship that could lead to trade.

Following the death of the Fifth Kazekage, Gaara, his son became the next Kazekage and came into power on the eve of the Fifth Shinobi World War. Suna’s economy had already started to show decline several years after the fall of the Union and the Sixth Kazekage hoped to remain neutral in the war. Unfortunately, the Kazekage was forced to act when Iwagakure began to encroach on Suna territory in an attempt to seize land. After Iwagakure’s show of power through pushing on their defenses, the Sixth Kazekage declared that Iwa and Kumo’s power was in need of limiting to prevent future occasions of aggression and avowed that to be Suna’s new goal. The Sixth Kazekage died at the Battle of Naruto Bridge.

Shinki, the Sixth Kazekage, had no children to take up the mantle of Kazekage after his death. This led to brief political turmoil between the families of Suna until a man named Yuuto rose to power after massacring the village elders. Under his rule, Yuuta put emphasis on developing new technology and bettering Suna’s shinobi forces, but his incompetency as a Kage and lack of leadership qualities only worsened Suna’s financial crisis. After his untimely death – which is generally accepted to be an assassination, though no one says such aloud – his daughter, Asuga, rose to become the first female Kazekage. Like her father, she wishes to better the economy and bring focus to technology, as well as increase trade within the Land of Wind.

In the current political climate, Suna is stable internally and most shinobi have shown loyalty to the Eighth Kazekage. The civilians are content enough with the present regime, despite there being unrest before the new Kazekage’s rise to power, which can be contributed to the Kazekage’s main political focus being on reforming the economy. Externally, Sunagakure is on shaky grounds with the other four powers. Suna blames the other four villages for stealing their clientele, especially the neighboring major hidden villages, Iwagakure and Konohagakure. The Kazekage is pushing for a sanction on Land of Wind citizens seeking the aid of foreign shinobi which Iwagakure has openly shown dissent for.

The people of Suna themselves have proven to be xenophobic and incredibly nationalistic. Since foreigners happen to be few and far between, the locals tend to mistrust them and be highly suspicious while prescribing to various stereotypes. Foreign shinobi get the brunt of Suna’s slightly unwelcoming behavior while foreign merchants are treated with the politer end of the spectrum.

The Arashi no Shugo-sha (嵐の守護者), the Stormguardians, were created by Hoshiyo. THeir existence is something of an urban legend and only the leader of Amegakure knows of their existence. They are modeled after ROOT -- in fact, the Amegakure orphanage is a known source of recruits for the Arashi no-Shugo. The Arashi no Shugo-sha is known for kidnapping promising orphans in foreign lands as well, and allegations have been made towards Amegakure no Sato that they are abducting children who, whether they are orphans or not, are not property of Amegakure. Of course, no admission of this can be given out by Amegakure no Sato, because the existence of the Arashi no Shugo-sha is a concept that even the citizens of Amegakure themselves are not sure about.

To get things straight -- the Arashi no Shugo-sha, or Arekuruu, do certainly exist. But not many people know of them and, beyond some alleged sightings of Arekuruu agents within the borders of Amegakure, nothing can be proven. Thus the urban legend was formed.

With a country that is as isolated as Amegakure, it is not strange that they take extreme measures to defend their borders. Due to the nature of Amegakure's position in the middle of three larger villages, they are forced to vehemently protect their borders at all costs. These units will go out and confront trespassers, ordering them to turn back and take the long way around Amegakure, and if they fail to do so, will engage and theoretically destroy the opponent. The border guards are typically lead by a borderguard-specific jonin, and then three regular shinobi, but can also consist of four borderguard shinobi.

Perhaps the most infamous of the Amegakure institutions, the orphanage employment service or otherwise known simply as 'the orphanage' is a service that deals with children abandoned by their parents or who lost their parents due to war. They come from all over - but mostly from Amegakure. This is due to the frequent usage of Amegakure lands to do battle in by other countries which causes displaced children to end up either in Amegakure or wandering into Amegakure - though, at times, the orphanage has been known to employ the Arekuruu to exfiltrate orphans from other areas outside of its' borders.

The orphanage spends most of it's time raising the children to become shinobi -- offering them a chance at a life where they can earn a living wage rather than having to beg on the streets if they're not adopted (which rarely happens in Amegakure -- there are enough mouths to feed as is). Those who are said to have special talents are siphoned off into the Arekuruu training trajects, where they are effectively brainwashed -- though Amegakure prefers to say they are 'made loyal.' Much has been learned from ROOT in that regard, and though they do not practice the brutal experience of having to kill a brother or sister, there are certainly ethical questions that can be asked here -- it is only a good thing that nobody knows about this, and that means nobody can ask these questions.
