Trisean took a slight pause as he heard the more collected voices of Shizuka and Ace respond. Just how paranoid had he gotten? He needed to get a grip. This was embarrassing. He took a deep breath as Asuka mentioned the stench of the sewers. "Amen to that." he said with a chuckle. "I'm gonna need a shower after this. Certainly not my brightest idea." He took a few steps forward, before stopping and muttering with another chuckle, "Damn. Really loosing my edge today." He turned to Asuka and said with a smile, "Hey, sorry if I've been acting off my usual game today. Got a lot on my mind is all." Trisean decided he was done being worried about everything. What came would come, and he would tackle it with his usual youthful energy. He certainly wasn't going to let some mercenary have the satisfaction of killing his mood.

Trisean was about to get moving again, when something felt off. His expresion went back to being serious, and he extended his arm in front of Asuka with a curt "Hold up." He thought he heard.... and there it was again. Too much splashing to just attribute to echoes. A large number of things were in the sewers with them. And the scraping metal he heard every now and again answered the question as to what they were. "Damn. Constructs are in the sewers with us. And I think I know what kind. Nomis certainly loves his wolves." Trisean's whips uncoiled out of habit. Judging his environment, he chose to attune himself with blizzard magic. The whites of his eyes turned to a light blue, and his skin seemed to pale slightly as his body temperature cooled. In close quarters, ice would serve well as a defense. Plus, there was the ever present fact that water froze.

If anything, Trisean still had a twinge of anger and irritation left in him. He grinned slightly as he thought of the irony of the situation. If Nomis had sent these things after them, he had just give Trisean a present. Trisean very much wanted to hit something, and here came more wolves, like gluttons for punishment. "What the hell. I'm still a bit pissed anyway," he said to himself. Of course, Asuka was still down here with him, and he didn't want to go into a fight if she didn't want to. He turned with a slight grin to her and said, "What do you say Asuka? Want to lay the smack down on these fools? Its as good a reason to fight the empire as any."
Apologies for the delay. My school takes election day really seriously. Been wrapped up all day. Writing my post now, have no fear.
Hey guys. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I will post tomorrow morning, so don't worry about me.
I'll post as soon as I can. I've been really busy on this end.
Trisean kept striding forward as Asuka spoke up. "Yeah, I hear you," he responded. "You're right. We should focus on getting home. One step at a time. Just thinking out loud here." Trisean thought as he walked, trying to straighten out his constant stream of thoughts. The aftermath of the operation and Rika's appearance had left him rattled. He was jumping at shadows that he wasn't sure were there. He had to get a grip. Focus on the present now, worry about possibilities behind the safety of the bunker. Regardless, he tried not to show it, but he was worried. God knew when Nomis was going to play his hand, and Rika was still the wild card. Sure, Trisean had no problems going into situations where the odds were against him, but he at least wanted to know what the odds were.

They hadn't walked far when there was some sort of commotion coming from street level. Trisean motioned for Asuka to wait, then swung up to the next grate with his whips. When he poked his head out of the grate, he glanced around for a few seconds before his vision focused on the monitors in a nearby square. Trisean's jaw dropped. Nomis's power play had begun. And this was probably only the first move. The bastard was using what looked like footage from the warehouse to rile the public against them. Street level transport was definitely a no-go now. Trisean quickly dove back into the sewers after confirming his location. Fortunately, the bunker wasn't too much farther away.

Motioning to Asuka, he said urgently, "We need to move, now! Nomis started his power play. He's using us as a scapegoat for the explosion last night. Supply bunker isn't much farther now. With any luck we'll make it before someone has the bright idea to check the sewers." As they ran through the sewers, Trisean pulled out his badge and contacted Ace and Shizuka. "Ace! Shizuka! Asuka and I are closing on the bunker, but we have a problem! Nomis started making his move. He's using us as a scapegoat for the explosion last night and is turning the people against us! We need to recall any agents we have out immediately, so we can form a counter move."
You wanted combat, I give you combat.
Elik accepted the party invite as it came up. He took a few seconds to get used to the unique system of the game's menus, or lack of one, for that matter. It was slightly disconcerting to be without much of a standard UI, but it was just another thing he would get used to as time passed. To be frank, he appreciated the immersion, if at the cost of a more streamlined mechanic. Elik glanced around at the others as they still got there bearings. From the look of things, they had a pretty standard party. With himself as a tank, they looked to have a melee dps, a ranged dps, two spell casters, and what looked like a potential crowd control setup from Oz. A pretty standard party, minus a healer of course, but the first aid skill seemed to cover that, and he planned to level that up. A tank that could heal was certainly a bonus.

It seemed like everyone was ready to go, but no one was taking the first step. Elik figured that if no one else would, then he would go first. He did have massive health after all. "Already going," he said in response to Midori. "See you on the other side." With that, Elik stepped through the light of the door. It didn't seem to be blinding, but it replaced the scenery around him. Eventually, it was replaced with a dusty old chamber, lit by a single torch. Elik drew his sword and shield, preparing for combat. When no threat appeared, he moved to the door. The way through appeared to be difficult to see through, but the torch appeared useable. Glancing at the party, it appeared only the wand user had a free hand. "Hey, Mushi," he said. "Grab that torch, would you? I think the rest of us need both hands to fight." When someone had grabbed the torch, Elik move forward through the hallway, taking the lead. It made sense for the guy with the massive shield to be in front.

Coming to another room, the door suddenly closed behind him. Familiar with video games, Elik braced for a fight. When the room lit, he got a good look at the enemies; four goblin looking creatures, all armed differently. Looking at each one, he got a good idea of their damage potential. Before the fight began, Elik said to the party "Alright! I'll hold their attention. Midori, if I'm getting swarmed, pull one off me. Everyone, go for them in order of the most damaging. Bombs, then robe guy, then sword, then arrows." With that, Elik charged at the one with bombs, his shield raised, and swung at the little green thing. Combat had begun.
"That would be correct," Trisean responded, amused. "No where in the plan were any explosions mentioned. We think our good friend Dr. Nomis had something to do with it, but I don't like it if he did. God knows what that mad man stood to gain from killing his own men, let alone burning that place to the ground, but it can't have been good. Nomis never moves without a plan. Hell, for all I know he may have wanted to just draw attention to us." Trisean figured it would be best to explain what happened during the mission. It would help get the latest stream of bullshit off of his chest, and explain to Asuka just why he was annoyed, and not specifically with her. "Well, the operation itself was a success, mostly. We managed to secure most of the supplies. We had to use a portal as our escape plan, thanks to Nomis, which is why you missed it."

"As for the data we were after, we missed it. Someone else beat us to the warehouse and stole it. Whoever it was was quick, clean, and efficient, not to mention silent. And then there's the fact that I think the one who stole it is our new recruit." Trisean scoffed as he said the word. "Right. Recruit. I think a better word is mercenary, and she wears that fact on her sleeve. Somehow, I doubt she joined us because of higher moral fiber. For all we know she....." Trisean cut himself off. For the moment, he'd rather keep his suspicions to himself and Ace. He had a feeling that it would bite him in the ass if Rika found out. "Never mind. Just my paranoia talking. I'm sure its fine."

Trisean continued to pop his head out of the grates to make sure they were heading the right way. As he did so, he noticed something peculiar. The security on street level hadn't been elevated nearly as much as he expected. Sure, there were definitely more patrols and troops, but not nearly enough to track anyone down efficiently. "That's weird," he said as he poked his head down. Security hasn't escalated street level nearly as much as I thought it would. But after that fire, they should be everywhere. Not even any word about agents." Trisean thought about alternative possiblitlies of empire response. "Hmmm. This probably means one of two things. Either they plan to launch a decisive counter attack, or they expect us to follow up and are defending somewhere." Trisean's mind flashed to the data. "What if it has to do with the data that was stashed their? It could have info on a secure site or something. Remind me to ask Ace what was supposed to be on the data we wanted when we get back. This could be really good or really bad."
I was being careless and was pressed for time. Will post it in about an hour or so.
