Never seen/read the Dresden Files, gotta be honest xD
Nice to hear I have some fellow bizarringtons on the board. :)

I was thinking roughly '20s-'40s (so I suppose early middle) but if people would prefer modern day, I don't mind either way.
Genkai said sure you can magically summon food

*twitch* *twitch*

In the HP universe, you can't transfigure food. But yeah, I get the point.

xD

Nothing grows in the city. The city is a concrete wonderland. Factories merge into shopping precincts merge into houses merge into factories.

Then you see it.

Flowers. Always yellow.

They sprout from nothing against the greys and browns. You'd think something so frail would get trampled underfoot.

But no.

Then you see it.

They're not possible.

Then you get it.

They're possible. There's more to it.

Then you see it.

The whole world you couldn't see before.

The whole world nobody else can see.

You can see people for
what|who|why
they are.

Their loves, their hates; their needs, their memories; even their souls.

And the best part?

This other world isn't a different one. It's a different side to the one you live in. The other half, if you like.

If you can influence that other world, you can influence this one, too.

Nothing is impossible. Not even yellow flowers growing in concrete.

Hopefully you'll get the idea that this RP is going to be weird. In this unnamed city, there are areas, signified by the presence of yellow flowers, where the spiritual side to the physical world can be seen. Things that were obscured become clear; things that were clear become obscured. Things like physics and logic go out of the window and people for what and who they really are come to the fore – only within these zones, these dreamscapes existing concurrently with reality.

Not everybody can see it. Not everybody gets it. Those people are the pawns. The dreamscapes that they cannot see impact on them no less for their ignorance. Those that can influence the other world indirectly control the physical world, too, but these dreamscapes, like the physical world, have to be shared. You will have rivals in your pursuit of control.

I'm still working on this idea, but I expect it will follow our characters as they interact with the dreamscape to force reality to go the way they want, probably set in the mid-twentieth century. I'll underline how this RP will be weird and odd and I'm looking for players that can deal with that, will relish in it, and add to the metaphysical tapestry of calculated nonsense.

Any takers / questions?
Doesn't look especially like it. Either way, I'm withdrawing.
So it's kinda metaphorical as much as literal, then. Makes sense.

When you say it makes money less valued (and this is kind of a question for J.K., too!), in what way does having less money affect wizards' lives? Food isn't particularly scarce (unless it is), and most stuff can be magicked out of thin air.
Figured as much. In what way will the depression in the wizarding world affect daily life? Obviously it doesn't stop most wizarding families from acquiring most non-edible goods, since they can just transfigure it. Transport is largely free, etcetera.
How old will the characters be? I presume all four will be the same age, but how old that might be, I couldn't tell you.
There's a slightly more active thread for this same RP in the advanced section, though we haven't heard from Ember for a while.
I'm well up for this. I rather fancy playing me some Slytherin.

Will keep an eye on this.
