A way out west there was a fella, fella I want to tell you about. Fella by the name of Don. At least, that was the handle his lovin' parents gave him, but he never had much use for it himself. This Donald, he called himself the Dude. Now, Dude. That's a name no one would self-apply where I come from. But then, there was a lot about the Dude that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. But then again, maybe that's why I found the guy s'durned innarestin'.

Sometimes there's a man--I won't say a hee-ro, 'cause what's a hee-ro?--but sometimes... there's a man.

And I'm talkin' about the Dude here--sometimes there's a man who, wal, he's the man for his time'n place. He fits right in there--and that's the Dude.

Bobby watched Athony in amazement at how effectively his sledgehammer made work of the encroaching raiders. Maybe this was actually a good idea... Bobby thought to himself.

"Hey Bobby, I'm on my way!"

Brought out of his awestruck daze, Bobby scurried up the rest of the way, pushing off the manhole covering and making his exit out into the desolate night. Looking around, making sure the coast was clear of any Raiders (or anything worse), he turned around and offered a hand to his accomplice; it seems, in the moment, forgetting his 'no-touch policy.'
“Attention all Cadets,” echoed Lorenzo’s voice throughout the speakers from all over the base, “Your mock battle will be happening in approximately ten minutes! Hurry on over to the hangar and do suit up. Don’t worry about being indecent either, the only ones that’ll be looking is your Framewerk, so go ahead and get ready and move them to nearby ruins where you will be participating in the mock battle. Oh, and do put on a good show… we will be watching your performance with the utmost of interest!”

With a little disturbing laugh, you can’t help but wonder if the man was watching you all while you were off to your own devices…

Antwon grunted as he pulled himself up at the thought of the impending battle, feeling pumped by his impromptu exercise. Yeah, these guys definitely aren't up to anything sinister. No sir, Antwon thought to himself, in particular looking towards the one camera pointed squarely in his direction at a farther end of the room. Antwon, mature as he was, enthusiastically displayed his two middle fingers straight in the direction of the lens, before leaping off his raised position and walking casually to the hangars with the rest of his peers. Ant couldn't help but raise an eyebrow as Ian started stripping before he even made it to his mech. Ant made a simple mental note: Watch out for that one.

Ant casually slipped out of his clothes and into his suit right in front of his framewerk, not bothering the walk to the bathroom, and uncaring of the peeping eyes (or so one could only assume) of the rather creepy superior who spoke over the speakers. It was a simplistic forest green, without much insignia, just like Perry. Ant took a moment to look upon his machine with a small sense of pride, then looked over the rest of the competition. He noticed Perry was slightly smaller than most of the other mechs, and far less... accessorized, for lack of a better word. But this only served to comfort him. None of these mechs have even the slightest chance of catching up to me, Ant thought.

Some were certainly threatening in appearance, and most had some very menacing weapon systems, visible from their exteriors alone. But they would be no use if they could not close the distance or make the shot. The only mechs he was truly concerned about were the quicker ones, taking mental notes of the framewerks known as 'Atty' and 'Anubis', the only other mechs that were even marginal in Perry's comparative speed. Most especially, though, was Ant's concern for the mousy girl... he took a very particular mental note of "data collector" when she introduced herself. She will be the most problematic, Ant thought. Best to make sure she is out of the picture, first. Or at least, make sure that I'm not in her scope.

Ant entered his cockpit, quickly made sure his systems were fully operational, and let the numerous thrusters scattered all over Perry warm up. Ant reveled in the sound of Perry's engine revving up to full power, as the lights in his cockpit hummed ever greater to full life. A rare grin grew upon his face, his eyes closed, as he took this small meditative moment to think back on the few pleasant memories he had. Ariadne. Having grown familiar with the sound of Perry's generators when they were ready, Ant's eyes sprung open with a new flame, ready for the chance to prove himself. Just before he could spring out, however, Ian took the lead. "Dammit!" Ant cursed himself, letting one of his targets out of the gate first. Best to get the head start with the others while you still can, Ant concluded.

Perry took a half-kneeling stance, similar to that of an Olympic sprinter. The sound of the thrusters grew even louder, until all at once, Perry practically exploded out from the hangar. In a matter of seconds Perry was already out in the field, noting Anubis was busy flaunting up in the air. Ant smirked to himself. Excellent, he thought, Yes, stay in the air. I'll just be down here, tending to my own business...

Perry leaped like a frog onto the massive boulder sunken before him, using the momentum to change his course left, using similar boulders to swing left, right, left, right... not before long, Perry was well out of view, making preparations for the long haul...
Approaching Antwon normally, they place one can in front of them and smiled softly. “I apologize for that, I was out of line… and you’re right, I don’t have any real answers,” looking up, they smiled a bit more, trying to give off warmer feeling.

“If you feel like hitting me for what I said, then I understand. My advice was crude, and I know when I’m in the wrong, just know that we will have to get along since we will be on the same team.”

Antwon, still hanging upside down like a koala, still peeved, didn't bother to look in Korie's direction; but he did snatch the coffee from her hand. He waited for her... him... he didn't know what to make of the situation, to leave. No, actually. We certainly don't have to get along, Antwon thought, his emotions having gotten the better of him. There was no team, yet, as far as he was concerned. The lot of them would have to at least make it through one battle (an actual battle, mind you, not a simulation) and actually survive to be considered such, as far as Ant was concerned. And even then, they were not a team by choice. In any case, Korie certainly didn't leave a good first impression on Antwon, and it would take more than a lukewarm cup of coffee to convince him that they were of any value in character; most certainly after such a brazen, personal, below-the-belt assault.

Antwon, upside down, noticed Zan in particular, who was off in his own far corner, doing some physical training of sorts. Ant couldn't help but admire someone who was as visibly dedicated, seemingly far more aware of how best to use his time compared with the rest of his peers, who were either skulking about just like Ant, or playing games. Zan's behavior made a particular impression on him. From Ant's ledge, he started doing some curls of his own, attempting to emulate Zan's training regimen.
@Raijinslayer
Would probably make more sense if Ant's was lower and Sigma's was higher. Also kinda hilarious that Elora's is as high as it is. But honestly I figure it doesn't make a huge difference as far as the story/characters anyway.
Wow, all those rates seem to make like perfect sense for (almost) each of the characters. It would definitely be Zan who has the perfect ratio. Also good to hear that they'd all rise over time, so nobody gets left in the dust.
Would be okay to incapacitate the loudmouths with a roundhouse kick?

If you wanted you could probably quite efectively shut Ant up that way in a future scenario. Would probably have the opposite effect in the long term... but I could see how one would be brought to such a scenario
His hand reached out to grab Korie's chin, bring it around to face Ian's, then he kissed them. A full on, passionate and experienced french kiss as well, and he held them there for some time, before finaly separating from them,,taking a low breathe, before he walked over to the vending machine.

This certainly got Antwon's attention, having him shoot back upright on the angled pillar. He had to admit, the guy knew how to get a reaction. Not necessarily a good one, leaving Ant with a very clear mental note to never let this guy five feet in his vicinity. But it was quite impressive to get any attention out of the delinquent. Then the one with the desperate need for assurance spoke up again.

“Oh, and Antwon,” Korie looked towards the one who casually ‘swatted’ them aside, “Do change that attitude and do at least try to at least put up a fight… so that you can at least be able to protect someone this time instead of leaving them to die"

Antwon turned his head slowly in its direction, very slowly. He simply looked at it, his fists clenched, filled with anger and pity for the creature. He shook his head with a scoff, attempting to hold back a response, but was clearly distraught by the distasteful commentary. "You call a cheap blow earning answers." He leaps down from his raised platform, and can't help but laugh under his breath again. He approaches the table, sits down next to them. "Maybe I don't deserve an answer to that. But this false sense of superiority you're playing? You sure as shit can't convince anyone you have any answers. Real answers, anyway."

Antwon pushes his chair back forcefully, swats again. "That's all you'll be getting from me." And with that, he moved back to his arched pillar, swinging up to the horizontal axis, hanging out as he was before.
@Fat Boy Kyle
Huh, never heard of that until now actually. That's something I'll be considering.
Ian walked over to where Antwon was sitting above the rest of them, the smile never leaving his face. "Keep whatever questions you got, my friend, but save them until after the combat exercise. I'm sure they'll be more willing to answer your questions after you show them you're worth it. Oh, and don't judge Elora so quickly know, she's the most important member of the team. 'Any fight fought without information on the enemy will always be an uphill battle', a little quote my dad told me from time to time. Told me the thing about soldiers too."

Ant hung nonchalantly upside down, facing the opposite direction from the rest of the group. Antwon merely offered the chatter box an un-enthused, facetious 'thumbs up', but didn't turn for him, and proceeded to tune him out. The guy meant well, but there was only so much Ant could listen to. What Ant was more curious about was how they assumed he was actually trying to insult the little mouse; in his mind, it was a genuine source of concern. His ears did perk up, however, upon the new voice:

“While it is true that we are all on the same team right now... we are all aiming for the goal of Squad Leader… something that I think neither you, Antwon, nor Elora here could handle based upon what I have just seen from your actions. We are fighting the Cruxi, an overwhelming race that has humanity backed into a corner and yet there are people here that are trying to get all the answers like they have earned them already.”

Antwon laughed loudly, nonchalantly swaying a free hand away in the... its, direction, as if swatting away a fly; he didn't even bother to look over for this clear insult. This thing is so deluded in its own self-worth... does it really think I actually want to lead this ragtag group of meatbags?, the thought entertained Ant, and he couldn't help but laugh out loud once again.
"hurry on up, I'll hold them off. Once we reach the surface, these bastards will finally get off our tail."

Bobby just gawked at him for a short moment, not really sure what this guy was thinking.

"Well? What are you waiting for? Up ya go kid!"

Bobby obeyed, scurrying up the ladder as the Raiders were mere moments away from colliding with the man. Ten feet above, Bobby watched in awe as the man stood his ground; either his bravery, or his madness, knew no bounds. Bobby fired off a hefty stone in their general direction, hoping to knock at least one of the crazed men out of the fight...
