Bio

A way out west there was a fella, fella I want to tell you about. Fella by the name of Don. At least, that was the handle his lovin' parents gave him, but he never had much use for it himself. This Donald, he called himself the Dude. Now, Dude. That's a name no one would self-apply where I come from. But then, there was a lot about the Dude that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. But then again, maybe that's why I found the guy s'durned innarestin'.

Sometimes there's a man--I won't say a hee-ro, 'cause what's a hee-ro?--but sometimes... there's a man.

And I'm talkin' about the Dude here--sometimes there's a man who, wal, he's the man for his time'n place. He fits right in there--and that's the Dude.

"Speaking of emotional... Antwon, your display of controlling yourself was pathetic. Not my taste of music, but doing such actions on the battlefield would draw Cruxi everywhere, endangering everyone. Not only did you ignore covering your weaknesses, but you allowed a sneak attack. The traps were clever, however, the fact you didn't place any underground led to your downfall. Heh, clever pun if I do say so myself. Anyway, choosing to ignore Korie and going instead for Sigma and Matsuda costed you points, mainly because Korie at the time was a potentially bigger threat with that earthquake of theirs. They were moments away from collapsing the entire place, and yet you ignored them for whatever it is you were doing... I don't know, I lost interest to be honest. Might want to keep me interested next time, Antwon."

"Now... does anyone have any questions before I announce who the squad leader will be?"

Ant raised his hand, surprisingly patient as he allowed the others before him to speak. "First question: were you watching the same battle? Because if you were, then you would have probably noticed that there were two mechs [re: indicates with his fingers] blocking my path toward Mr. Misnomer over here", referring to Korie, Ant pointing in their direction without bothering to look. "Second: Do you normally show such a complete lack of interest in your pilots? Because maybe if you actually did show interest, you'd know what the f--k you're talking about, as opposed to throwing baseless insults at everyone. Last question: are your puns always this terrible?"
My vote also goes for 1 or 3. Like @Skythikon said, number 2 seems more like we're getting into Austin Powers territory. Nothing wrong with that, but my personal interests are also leaning towards something slightly more serious (emphasis on slightly... it would be nice to strike a balance between mostly serious with some humor. Burn Notice nails the tone down perfectly).
@Konica
Great!

As for anyone else, please let me know if you have any pressing questions. It helps immensely.

(unsubtle bump)
Perry leaped forward, successfully latching on to Sigma's mech, only to be swiftly pushed over by the other; Takeo's. The big, bulky one. The pilot proceeded to threaten Ant and Perry, posing his massive sword above him in preparation of a strike. Ant chuckled in his cockpit. Does he really think such a clunky thing like his could make contact?, Ant thought.

Perry, while still grappling Sigma Comet by the legs, rolled around the machine until he was pivoted between her machine and Ant's potential assailant; preventing a strike from him without compromising Sigma. Expecting Aester's further annihilation of the arena, everything halted to a rather sudden, unsatisfying end, including Ant's noise rock. It seemed the crazed scientist didn't have as great a sense of spectacle as he let on, notifying everyone unceremoniously that they all 'failed.' Ant snickered, rising from his cockpit to casually exit. Yeah, okay buddy. Like this wasn't a colossal failure of both everyone's time and energy. We are completely doomed.

Ant arose from Perry's head. From his ground level, he was afforded a much greater perspective of the carnage that they all created. The two other framewerks towered above him, but it was only now that Perry noted what was pursuing behind him... it looked like an abomination of pure destruction. Ant was actually starting to feel quite relieved that it ended when it did. At the very least, he got to end on a somewhat high note, just before he would literally have been turned into minced meat. And he was especially pleased to have created his own mass of destruction, earlier, the prideful memory of fireworks crisp in his mind.

Hearing helicopters, Ant took it upon himself to rush over to Matsuda's mech, the guy referring to such as the 'Iron Sparrow.' Ant proceeded to climb it. Despite its size, he took the challenge with surprising speed, coming from such a lanky kid, finding just the right nooks and crannies to shimmy himself up. Not before long, Ant was standing on the mech's shoulder. He shouted to the pilot to garner his attention, then pointed to his sword. "You think this thing is big enough?"
So many posts to read through. Oh, my.

I'm going to put out a quick post for the day, and as a heads up, I probably won't be able to get another in until tomorrow. Today is my lady's birthday, so that will take some precedence

EDIT: I may have missed a post referring to Ant or Perry, since I'm just trying to get a post out so as not to bog the action and don't have much time to read through all the new action. Just PM me and I'll correct it later on if that ends up being the case.
That's an excellent question that I'll have to think about. Perhaps these jet skis will have small enough engines to be self-sustaining through salt water? It is 2085 after all...

Of course, that brings its own fair share of new issues as well, wherein power would thus be accessible for the organized civilizations that remain.

"When you get a virus, you get a fever. That's the human body raising its core temperature to kill the virus. Planet Earth works the same way. Global Warming is the fever. Mankind is the virus. We're making our planet sick. If we don't change this ourselves, their are only two ways this can go: the host kills the virus... or the virus, kills the host."

-------------------------------

The year is 2085.

It's been thirty long years since the Great Deluge. Inexplicably, all at once, it seemed Mother Nature took actions of its own; to thwart mankind's reckless abandon of our planet, all for the sake of capital.

Action was swift.

Brought to their inevitable tipping point, the polar ice caps melted... but at a far greater speed than any of our more powerful governments ever anticipated: within the course of 40 hours. This proved sufficient enough. There was no time to prepare, nowhere to hide, as the entire world was submerged.

Only 3% of the world's population survived.

Now, what remains of us "Floaters" scrounge to get by. Clean water is more valuable than gold, and any stretch of land for most is a distant memory; or, for those born after The Deluge, a fairy tale.

It has been easier over the past decade, as it seems water levels are slowly yet steadily subsiding, leaving at least some land in the form of tropical islands. But as the Earth recovers from its virus, the damage to our kind has been done:

Humanity as it stands is only a shell of its former power...
...leaving way for our primal, destructive nature to unfold like never before.

Hey there!

I've just recently seen the new Mad Max in theaters. Great movie, and an even greater source of inspiration. Add to this, I've been wanting to set a RP in the setting of Waterworld for quite a long time. And it seemed, to me, there was not a greater match in heaven for a fun, action-packed RP with plenty of conflict and intrigue.

Long story short, you will be a misfit group of young adults (18-25), initially tasked on a rescue mission that will have you traveling to a treacherous marauder citadel. Your vehicles, in the form of modified, personalized jet skis, will play a big part in your role in the team, as much of the story (akin to the latest Mad Max movie...) will be an extended chase (where players will play and switch as both Cat and Mouse with high frequency), with a decent amount of breaks in-between for team, world, and character development.

I have a general story in mind beyond this initial arc, but I wanted to see first and foremost if this was something up people's alleys. If enough of you are interested, I'll start crafting up character sheets and a more detailed OOC. Also, please share any questions you have now, and it will help me tremendously in further tightening and polishing the concept.

Note: The Kind of Players I'm Looking For
-------------------------------

I would prefer a more high-casual approach from the players. As in, I would like if people were interested in developing and getting invested with not only their own characters, but their fellow 'squad mates' and the world as well, for the long haul. In addition, it would be nice if those interested would be willing and prepared to leave at least one post (or two paragraphs minimum) a day; that being a bare minimum if we want the story to move at a decent pace.

I am looking for a diverse, balanced team of six other players, not including myself. To translate, that means everybody can't be a genetically modified super-soldier. We will need some combat specialists, yes. But that doesn't mean you will also be a super-genious-fire-breathing-android-soldier who woos every lady he stumbles into. Mmmmmmmno. I'm looking for flawed, imperfect, people, first and foremost. If all of the combat roles get filled up, do not fret; it will be assumed everyone on the team will have at least some proficiency with a weapon of sorts (to further reiterate: proficient does not mean you are accurate even half the time), and I will be creating scenarios for everyone where they will get a chance to shine.

The obstacles and objectives you will face will not be strictly combat oriented; but of course, as implied, there will be plenty of action. Specifically, I think it would be nice to have an engineer, a large-watercraft specialist, and a medic on the team, in addition to the Rambos of the group. Even better if you have another non-combat specific role you think would serve the team well.
Interested.
