Character sheets are necessary for GMs to make sure you have an idea of what you're doing and aren't going to pull random nonsense. Also necessary for guaging power scale.

If anything the sole reason that people seem to wish to a have a number of players first is so that the plot can begin right away but seldom would it be that prevents characters from milling about on their own accord then being called to the plot.

I can pretty easily just provide a beginning scenario for folks to start in and have people show up into it. Works pretty well especially with Naruto. "Meeting between students and instructors at X training ground."
There done xD
Alright. "Post when approved" sounds like a good way to go about it. Not big on calling it a jump-in which sounds like what I'm used to as walk-in... which basically means there's no standards to be upheld heh.
But that works fine.
I'm considering running a naruto roleplay on here. What would be the best way to describe to folks here that they can just post as soon as their character is accepted? Cuz I'm not going to really care about waiting until there's a certain amount of people heh.

Also my rp is going to have a different team setup than canon. Rather than the 4-man squads with the jounin, it's going to be a 'Battalion' with all the students and multiple instructors among them, where the players can split and regroup at their leisure. Makes rp management much easier :3
Possibly interested! If I don't end up making my own thread (won't be rwby)
Despite having had an account here for a while, I'm relatively new to this website. One thing I've noticed about the 'culture' hereabouts is that near every rp I look at has a slot or role count that they're trying to achieve, and seemingly no less either. I often see roleplays that have plenty of characters accepted, but no one's posted, possibly because they are waiting for the last role to be filled or something.

This is very different from what I'm used to. Is this normal?

I'm used to simply letting characters come in and post essentially as soon as they're accepted, and letting in as many people as one can find acceptable Characters.
Character sheets?:
Absolutely and fully necessary both as a player and a GM. It is needed to know what other characters are in the roleplay so you can figure out what would be complimentary or just redundant to play, or to see whether or not you want to play in the rp alongside that cast.
As a GM it is even more important to be able to see what someone is trying to bring into your rp, and there are many, many times when I've had to reject folks who want to bring in something that doesn't fit.

Faceclaims?:
Any but RL models. It looks creepy and just annyoing.
Everything else I enjoy.

Color codes?:
Don't care so long as it doesn't burn my eyes.

What's the 'right amout' of images?:
One. Maybe two. Per post anyway. Could have multiple different pictures for different moods. Or ages. Depends.

Freeform or GM provided code?:
I like to have a GM provided code that I can then edit if something seems to be missing.

Things that should be be included/excluded?
Included - Name, Appearance, abilities and powers, backstory, personality
Excluded - Weaknesses (a lot of people seem to require needless achilles heels on characters that don't make sense. Such as a human taking EXTRA damage from fire or something. Just have a stab in the neck still be a stab in the neck and everything will be fine)
Sexuality (A lot of folks seem to focus on this section and make it the entire character, therefor forgetting to actually make a character. I prefer to leave this section out entirely, have people make their characters, and THEN assign whatever romantic interest they want from there)

What is your character creation process?:
I tend to get inspired by a stereotype or trope and then proceed to play on it, evolving it over time to be more and more my own and unique. I start off with shameless ripoffs and parodies and then end up with something I can truly call mine, and other people usually like it too.

Is character creation just all together overrated?:
No
I find this to be absolutely vital unless making a joke character. If it's a joke character than.... well it's different.

But anyway. A villain in roleplay MUST be a legitimate threat to the protagonists. In some way. This doesn't mean they have to be more powerful in a fight. Just a credible threat to them and what they are trying to protect.
My personal method tends to be a bit more... mechanical. I sort of 'logic' it out where I think about "what" the character would do in a situation. In my head it sounds dry and boring, but it works as a baseline. I figure out my plan, and how the character would respond, and then I start putting it into actual writing with more embellishment, and then it just kinda flows from there.

After I figure out what they would do and how they would react as a base level, the rest comes more easily and naturally and then their personality really starts to burst free.

Also theme songs. Theme songs are good.
Heroes and villains both working together aaaaand against each other too! That's one thing I was excited for when i made this. Getting some rival squads on a job fighting to complete it in different ways.

I also liked making Mavis. She's adorable heh. Though gods aren't likely to make an appearance til very late in the rp.
Sounds really interesting!

Glad you like it : ). Is there anything that stands out that you like in particular? Or just overall?
