Character sheets are necessary for GMs to make sure you have an idea of what you're doing and aren't going to pull random nonsense. Also necessary for guaging power scale.

I'm just a dude who likes vidya games, anime, Star Wars, all that cool nerd shit. Proud of it.
An old ruin that the Guild Masters knew about. Seemed a great place to go to live, nice and sturdy and defendable and no need to spend months rebuilding! They never explored it fully though...
I like to not put many hard rules from the outset onto things, but rather judge individual concepts as they come. I do consider things quite carefully so keep that in mind, but you're welcome to come up with something that would be outside of just beasts ^^.
Was busy yesterday but after I get rest I plan on doing more work on the front page to get it looking nice.
corpse-based magic like my character will enchant various body parts
Sounds neat but I think that would make the light guilds and citizenry squeamish. Don't think they'd be very cooperative with allowing access to new parts. Would fit in perfectly for a Dark Guild character. An alternative could be a bit of an Alphonse deal from FMA, where it's a friend or family member in a suit of armor and such and the character does the enchanting and stuff on them.
standard Magnolia
Alrighty, I'll take that under vote along with the like. While I still am considering another town/locale I did definitely at least want to be in the Fiore country.
@Sylvan Sapphire Falcon sounds pretty dope. May go with that :)
Lol. Cleaning up the entire city as she flies spreading wetness and soapy gloss everywhere! Everyone in the vicinity has weird mental crisis's in their heads followed by sudden epiphanies related to food, and also look extra sexy while all soaped up ;3
I'm trying to come up with names for everything as that's quite the important step. I was thinking Falcon Flight for the individualist guild and the teamwork guild being named Sapphire Hornet.
@malmshodes I would be leaning more towards the show, but with careful consideration on what was proposed. The friend mentioned earlier was making specifically a Steam dragon slayer. In order to get energy from eating the water, gotta heat it up first and get it boiling.
The banned or limited powers list will likely grow as I refamiliarize myself with everything, but so far I've got the following list that will be put in the rules section:
Godslayer Magic - No "dragon slayer but better" things.
Time-based powers - These, when it comes to roleplay, give pretty much nothing but problems. They are often times an "I win" button, on top of just being one of the most difficult powers to roleplay against properly.
Mind effect/control powers - This is more of a heavy limitation rather than ban. I may consider very balanced exceptions. These kinds of powers can easily cross the border into god-modding, controlling another character's thoughts, actions, or feelings. It is very difficult to roleplay correctly and overall is just a nuisance.
"Logia type" powers - Yes, I shamelessly stole that term from One Piece. This basically means any character that can turn their entire body into a non-solid element. Such as someone who can fully become water. These types of powers just provide way too much defensive capabilities. They render the majority of all attacks against them entirely useless, minus a few, select specific weaknesses. This is unfair to the majority of the rp, and will not be allowed.
Mimics/Copycats - No. Use your own powers. Don't just copy other characters in the rp.
Telekinetics - These are also not fully banned, but will be heavily limited as they can be some of the most overpowered for lowest effort. No Ravens.
Again subject to grow, but that's what is there so far. I'm not wanting to go into specific moves within existing powers at this time, as I'll judge every character sheet individually. But I will be striving for keeping things fair and I've got a lot of practice at catching things and balancing them.
As for characters, I recommend at least one character in the merged magic guild as that's where the most people should be. I will not be accepting characters from other light magic guilds at the very start, but will open up once I have use for them. However, I readily welcome minor or npc characters. You can have as many non-guild shop keepers as you like. And I also encourage villains. Dark Guild baddies are in high demand so I don't have to be all of them :D
I have a friend who is going to be playing a dragon slayer, and I would be willing to accept... I'd say two more at this stage. The cap will likely increase at some point. I don't have so much a hard number as much as I want to make sure they aren't in over abundance compared to the rest of the cast. The same thing goes for S-Ranks. I'll accept a handful but don't want them to be the majority. The Merged Guild Masters will be npcs played by me for now.
And for the last thing about the prequel anime, I wasn't even aware that there was one! I'll have to say that this would be an unrelated story.
Edit : I will not be accepting an S-Rank Dragon Slayer.... unless it's for the Dark Guild ;)
I've got a few folks too that have shown interest outside of the check, so looks like we're getting a good number for a start ^^. I'll be heading to bed for now, ask any questions you like and I'll answer them when I wake up sometime in the late afternoon.
Hello everyone. I am in the process of forming up a Fairy Tail setting rp that will be focused on an original guild. This guild will be the merged remnants of two separate guilds that used to be rivals. (Names for all things pending) While many of the members usually didn't like each other, the Guild Masters were equal parts rivals as they were friends, with two very different ways of looking at things.
One guild was heavily focused on teamwork and magical combinations, boasting many highly respected teams for certain tasks such as Disaster Containment and Rescuing people. While one may not be able to do everything alone, united they could do anything.
The other was the opposite and focused on individual talents, whatever talents those would be. It was all about making every mage the best mage they could be. They were known for having strong bounty hunters and crafters and swimsuit models. When every guild member is awesome, the guild is awesome.
Both of these rival guilds were attacked by a large Dark Guild that had been hiding in the shadows and had enough of both guild's interference. Through a combination of trickery, ambushing, and sheer might, they took down the Individuals guild first, and then the Teamwork guild second while they were attempting to assist.
Now the guild masters have joined forces, and any remaining members are now in one building without any of the previous rivalries being solved, yet they are supposed to be working together. Especially in order to defeat the Dark Guild. Who knows how it will go...
There is the introduction and general idea for the startup and the overall story. I will be working out the specifics of events and how they played out over time, along with getting everything solidly named. I'm eager to take suggestions for that and see what ideas other folks have, or just opinions on the setup so far.
I will be editing this page as I go along and list questions and answers ^-^.
Also, while it is currently sparse, I have a test thread for all to see how it's being formed. Construction Thread
For anyone interested, I have a question for preferred setting. What kind of area would you like this guild to be? Snowy Mountains? Tropical Forestry? Standard Magnolia? Fishing Village? Let me know.
Further info (updated as questions are asked and ideas pop into brain)
Character Power Levels - Generally I want things to be closer to early Fairy Tail to where characters are strong and you can have cool shounen fights, but not to the point where every Dragon and their Cat is rocking four separate magical powersets and are a walking nuclear bomb. I want more towards Episode 1 where Natsu wrecks the shit out of the boat and causes a lot of collateral damage but not where he's going to destroy the city with his dragon breath.
Technology level - Fairy Tail's tech was kinda weird and inconsistent as a lot of anime can be. So I'll be putting in a general rule of having it be late Coal Power age and a bit before things got all Steamy (steam power). And then add in all the magic capabilities to further pump that stuff up. Not a lot of electricity powered stuff. No TV or radios. But there's internal plumbing and coal trains and all of that stuff. I'll be a bit more lax on things that are more self-contained and don't matter as much. Such as a big waterpark. Sure.... you can have your water slides that are probably more technologically advanced than they should be. That's fine. Just don't whip out a gameboy or a car.
World Lore - I'll be honest, I haven't actually watched/read Fairy Tail in a very long time. And even then, I quit sometime shortly after the big Guild Tournaments. I remember how a lot of stuff works and the basics, but some of the more specific world history has slipped my memory. Assume the plot will be AU'd as I make a history that works well enough. I know that the Dragon Slayers did some serious time jumping... I don't want to do that so I'll likely be coming up with an alternative history for that.
