@Muttonhawk Sounds like you want something "Dark Wave", like Nox Arcana, or more on point, Arcana (unrelated to the other group).
Sadly it has been 8-9 years since I listen to those dudes, so I really do not remember the GOOD tracks, but if you want a good selection of their stuff, there is this Civilization Mod called Fall from Heaven 2, it is easy to access its soundtrack, just go asset > sounds.
Sim City 4 also had some "godly" stuff as its regional themes, most of them quirky-melodical, but I think some of them had a dark undertone, like Primordial Dream. Again, so long, I do not remember.

goddamn) but not dark at all, and very voice heavy.
Maybe there are some soundtracks I know that fit the bill, but frankly, my mood has been into more whimsical and melodic stuff so I just tend to remember that kind of stuff while others stay in a "probably exists but I cannot pinpoint".
