Alright. I wish Nexus could be a little easier to mold into a situation, but I hate forcing my characters to fit into roles they weren't supposed to. Keep me posted on situations like you've described, best of luck with running everything smoothly.

If you would be willing to do a different role then we would love to keep you around but I understand if you have a role you really wanted.


I briefly looked through the accepted characters and have seen no engineers? I don't know if this is an oversight on either of our parts, but maybe I'm just missing something?

And sadly, I believe the roles I wished to be placed in are probably the only effective ones for the machine. While it could operate a ship battery or be set to a soldier state, it would be rather limited and squandered to that division for the former, and has no weapons to speak of to use in the latter.

I really love your character! Unfortunately, we actually have someone who is the Engineer already unless they have decided to leave. I have asked them to put up there character where it belongs.

We have a scientist so I'm not sure of that covers research completely but just giving you a heads up.


Fair enough. It's unfortunate that I'm unable to squeeze through the door. But, if the current engineer or scientist does drop out, I'm always available to fill the gap!

Faction: Captured self-aware robot. Given the option to work on the Monroe or be disassembled. It was charged with terrorism, espionage, biological warfare attempts, breaking and entering, dangerous explosive manufacturing, illegal material possession, drug creation, illegal unmonitored research and failure to co-operate in court.

Role in Team?: Electronics Specialist/Cyber Warfare Defense
Bio: The machine refuses to offer any history of its past, simply stating that this option is the only course for self-preservation.
Personality: It is a machine. However, it was programmed with emotions. It simply chooses not to reveal them. Has an involuntary way of using sarcasm.
Weapon(s): No clear defined weaponry. However, coolant and exhaust ports beneath panels in the chest can possibly be used as makeshift weapons.

Star-fighter?: Negative, although it could create additional fighter shuttles with salvaged material for other members aboard.

Faction: Former-TLP, currently self-governed
Alignment: Loner, Good natured helpful pacifist.
Technology: Advanced
Ship Type: Science Corvette which has no organic-sustaining elements and is propelled by a self-made engine called called the Ancur.

Advanced technology due to being from the TLP as well as being an incredibly advanced machine. It designs all it uses and has extensive knowledge of most sciences.

Science Corvette hand built by the machine, lightly armoured, no weapons but incredibly fast and almost undetectable. Defuses heat via ceramic plates on the exterior of the armour. Making a design which stands out as a bright red from the heat after extended use of engines. Serves as a way to stealth the ship, as it both blocks radiation as well as diffuses heat slowly leaving no signature to be found.

The machine serves itself and has no master or central guide to drive it towards something. It understands that humans created it however, so it will try to assist them wherever possible. Being a machine leaves greed and evil emotions out of the equation.

If you're looking to apply: Great! Welcome to the world of the Black Star Order. To start, this will be a (hopefully) medium-long length role play with multiple people from all sorts of different factions. Continuous applications will be considered, as it's always interesting to have many people from many factions. As the GM, I will post the important bits pertaining to all characters in easy to read red bold (EXAMPLE) Posts for my own character, will appear much like this text.

PLEASE READ ALL CONTENT BEFORE BEGINNING APPLICATION

If you still intend to apply, please use the following template to submit your character for a rather easy screening process.

You may wish to create a custom Faction, with their own determined history and design. Humans can come from basically anywhere, but Alien races must originate from the Exclusion Zone.
For Aliens: You must provide the design of the alien, their features and abilities, their culture, their history and how they will act.
For Humans: You must describe their culture, governance and which area of space they originate from using the map provided in the IC page.

DESCRIPTIONS OR BIOS OR BACKSTORIES OR EQUIPMENT LOADOUTS ARE OPTIONAL
Loadouts can be described in character. One or the other is mandatory as I wish not to have deadpool-esque pulling out weapons.
DECIDING ON WHICH TECHNOLOGY LEVEL TO USE

Use the IC page to decide. Decisions on my part as to what you shall use are FINAL.

TLP, DAEXR and almost all aliens will use advanced technology. (DAEXR and Custom Aliens will be more towards Standard.)

PPP/SkiTTiSH will use lesser to standard technology.

Pirates will use lesser to standard technology, possibly some advanced levels if proper reasoning and backstory is given.

Isolated custom colonists you create will use lesser, they have to focus on defending their planet and feeding the people.

WHAT THESE TECHNOLOGY TYPES MEAN

Advanced: Anything you can imagine with a provided design which is close to realistic will be up for debate. This includes weaponry or ships that utilize non-real metals and techniques in certain ways that can be extrapolated as possible.

Standard: It is hard to describe what the standard level of technology is here, so this will be heavily debated as for what you bring to the table and ask for. I would like for the level of technology to be something similar to Mass Effect without Eezo. Ion is the primary engine, though certain factions may have the option of using gravity-driven ships which would prove much faster.

Lesser: Basic of basic. You have faulty equipment, barely scrabbled together which works in a miracle of engineering. Lesser is to Standard as an Iphone 3 is to a 7. You're alright, but not that great. More debate as to what you can bring, as your ideas and the faction you choose holds plenty of meaning.

ALL TECHNOLOGY LEVELS COME STANDARD WITH HYPERDRIVE TECHNOLOGY. JUMP BETWEEN SYSTEMS AT NEAR-LIGHT SPEED. SHIPS WITH THIS HAVE 5 MINUTE COOL DOWN AND SPOOL UP TIMES

RESTRICTIONS ON WHAT YOU CAN USE

Not really anything.

Bear in mind however, that you must consider the dispersion of heat. Transferring electricity or firing giant missiles pushes heat into your ship and will melt the armour if you push on too hard. If you're in advanced you must give me details and descriptions on how your ship-weapon or handheld weapon is going to disperse this heat.

You can create materials and elements to aid or assist in your creations, yet they cannot be too overpowered, and you may not use elements from other factions other users create. If a role player creates a hypothetical Element P and they are from the TLP faction, only other TLP faction members which join later can use their ideas.
