To the members of TT, on behalf of all the GMs... I apologize for the small argument that has taken up here and some of the actions of the GMs. We're all kinda stressed a bit and uneasy for having to discuss a rather delicate topic that some can already assume. We're not doing anything negative on the RP without asking our members first but there are some issues we the GMs need to discuss... some on the GMs, others on the RP itself. In any case, just have fun if you're still here lol. And don't worry about a thing until we say you should worry :P

I thought you were genuinely asking the question 'Is RP guild dying'. Turns out this whole thread has degenerated into a slagging match where one side demands updates and fixes and the other side - myself included, looking back - defends ceaselessly. So, I'm going to sum this whole thing up: You don't like it? Leave. Too impatient to wait for updates? See ya. Want to bitch on a bout how the guild sucks and we should all leave and join Iwaku rather than sit it out? Please bugger off.All comments after this are redundant. Every point to be argued has been argued, No, the Guild is not dying, it is going through a slump. Yes, there are other sites with more features. No, I really couldn't care less about them. Can we please put this issue to bed?

Let me direct you both to a certain part of a mod's post...

There is some wonderment why the mods didn't just step in and shut this convo down; that answer is simple. We didn't see anything rules-violating with the conversation and also figured (rightly) that some people probably wanted us to do precisely that so they could chant 'fascist!' I mean, I suppose we could come off as petty tyrant dicks and just close down a conversation that is, at times, critical, but that would be, in my mind, counterproductive. We all have a stake in this community, and feedback is a good thing. We'd be delusional to think we're doing the job perfectly around here and there aren't things we can change. Discouraging that sort of talk is essentially a shot to the foot.So we didn't shut down the topic and it's doubtful we will, because it's good to see people that feel strongly on an issue. Besides, I have something to add to the fray, but I've been holding off on writing it until I could phrase it in a way that I felt okay with, rather than just venting on a keyboard.

So yeah... Step it back and let's actually discuss these issues. The main problem is that there are issues that a large sum of people, even if they are a minority DO see than some feel like it should be discussed and talked about so we can (hopefully) find a way for US, as the community to be able to fix them. The main problem I'm seeing right now is that the community is splitting as a two sided coin when these issues are brought up and that there is A LOT of a lack of communication here. This is everyone in and out of this thread, including mods and admins. It is true, they do h ave lives that needs to be taken care of and they can't be here 24/7 and a good sum of our mods and admins have actual lives that take them from RPG for a very long time or prevents them from being on for long.

This thread overall was not about Iwaku Vs. RPG, both are really good in their own way and Iwaku does have it's own issues though because the Guild is currently under a very simple format it has more cause more can be done to it and it has a lot more promise than the already 99% finished Iwaku. The Guild's simplicity is good because it's an outline that can grow and become rather promising. It can be something that no other site has ever been or will ever be. It is it's own "thing" in other words.

Instead of being about Iwaku Vs. RPG, this thread is about certain issues that SHOULD be talked about in the community. It's not asking much more than "I've noticed some issues, what do you think? Where did they come from? Why are they here? What can WE do about it as a community and fix these issues?" While the OP might be a tad... off in asking these the overall premise of this thread are those exact questions and they are good ones. What CAN we do as a community to make the guild better and more fun for everyone? What CAN we do to keep people informed and have fun? What CAN we do to keep the sense of community that we all want to have stay the way we all want it to be?" While some issues we really don't have any option other than being patient and wait for Mahz to take care of them personally, there are many issues (Like RPGN being somewhat 'dead' due to the lack of members in it) that we CAN solve and fix to make the guild a bigger, better place than how some are seeing it right now.

Don't silence each other out when you could talk and communicate with one another and find out new solutions for the currently seen problems and maybe even find out some other problems that the guild might have that we should all talk about. It's better we do that than sit around and ignore their existence, which would only make things worse for everyone... Especially if we turn around and throw stones at anyone that does bring up these issues and makes us acknowledge their existence.

I do think the attitudes have gone a bit far in here. A productive comment would be more valuable than trying to "prove a point". Having a strong opinion is fine. Voicing it strongly? Also fine. Getting in somebody's face and making it personal...not fine.I'm not a mod (and probably never will be), but I am a member here. I'd like to ask the folks in here to reel it in a little and try to get back to a productive conversation and not a pissing contest. That's not meant to be inflammatory; just a simple request. Ignore me if you like.

I'm going to just stop trying to explain this to you. Because you obviously don't get it. Mr/Mrs. Passive Aggressive Idiot.

Actually, she did understand what you're saying but I don't believe you're understanding what she's saying. The guild is dying in a way because less members are active and some have dropped out or left. This decreases post count considerably and when new members join and see that no posts have been make for 2+days, it kinda turns them away from the guild, thinking it died. You can have as much new members join as much as you'd like but if none of them stayed than clearly you still end up with a dying guild. We need members who are willing to stay without ever leaving, like you said you planned to. But when members who are excited and want to RP on the guild for a very long time come and old members and some new ones leave the guild than it means that for every one of you, there are two people leaving.

See the problem here? This isn't good at all, especially since even looking at ads Mahs makes some small change... if there is hardly anyone here to look at them, let alone click them, he won't have enough money to sustain the guild and it will surely fall and die. That's also a big problem that we faced once before New-Guild, as some of the members have been calling it, was created.

Well I plan to stay for a while. And I'm proof that new members are popping up. A website can't be dead when people are still visiting it. And that is my point.

This is true... New members ARE still coming in and the community has shifted greatly from what once was the older members towards the newer generation.

However... The main problem that should be addressed here isn't the member count, which will be rather good for quite a long time, as much as it should be the fact that the guild does have some heavy "competition" that makes it look not as pleasant in comparison, the fat that the Guild's main Admin almost feels nonexistent now and the fact that we haven't received many updates in the guild to help it grow further and be better overall.

Currently Mahz is Momma whatever, probably a platypus, and right now the guild is just an egg... a very simple egg. Mamma gone? Egg dies. Momma takes care of egg... It grows and hopefully it becomes the most bad ass thing in the world to ever see and be a part of.

I want my big hot momma Mahz putting his warm ass all over my egg! Keeping it alive and taking care of it until it finally becomes something!

The title says it all.I used to be a member of RPG before the great crash. I then come back...to this....First of all there are no staff members, or in fact very little. In fact, I've seen some migrate to Iwaku. And I don't blame them because honestly Iwaku is pretty much like the rpguild of old. There's literally no updates. It's been barebones for a year. I understand that one person is in charge...But why? Jesus, let someone help Mahz. Share the website code with someone trusted. I'm sure someone with the expertise would be willing.Or ask for anon donations to hire a professional web designer. Because the way it is now, it's complete shit. Don't even try to sugarcoat it.QQcode is a piece of garbage compared to BBcode. There is much less options, and it always has problems. You can't change the font much other than bold, italicized, or other insignificant stuff we don't really fucking use. This website is like the sorry crappy under budget sequel of the old rpg, never fulfilling to the prequel.Iwaku is the new RPG honestly, fuck all.

Except they haven't. If you're gonna pull the butthurt rant maneuver you should at least try to get your facts straight.Again, nope. Very different community, not very similar to RPG at all. You're dumb.

I have to agree with Jorick on both of these points. Iwaku has other things that make it different than RPG, first one being the donations, second being the more relaxed community and how easy going it is there. They have Smut Roleplay sections and aren't against some rather adult content that RPG is. RPG is PG 13+, Iwaku is a tad bit more mature in some areas. The Moderators are also rather different and how the site runs overall is different, even in comparison to old guild.

Also, some members did migrate, it's what happens. But than again some members, like myself is still here as well. Members that don't like how a place runs tends to leave for what they think better fits them, They're leaving because of their free will and this was always happening since even the beginning of RPG. New members come in, they don't like what they see, they leave. Old members are on the site playing around, then they get bored, and then they too leave. Nothing has changed at all. Stop talking like RPG is complete and total trash and Iwaku is the holy grail. It's not helping at all. In fact, RPG being so bare gives it a lot of opportunity to be something more when worked on and given said opportunity.

Now that that was said... You did make a lot of good points. Mahz has promised several times that he'll work on RPG and fix a lot of issues, and even claimed to take an entire week just for that in exact. It's been almost a year and little to no progress has been made and the site isn't getting better and members are giving up on it because it's no longer showing as much promise as it once did. Though we need to remember that Mahz is a very busy guy and has a job and is paying for the site, with or without ads to help.

I'm not saying he's lazy or bad or even careless about RPG and I'm definitely not saying that he should give away RPG though the OP is right in the fact that maybe it's time Mahz asks for help or something so the site could be better, the exact way HE wanted it to be, sooner. And maybe he could be able to do something to expand it so the white screen of hell is no longer up. Honestly I would REALLY like to see RPG have actual buttons for BBCode... I'd love to see profiles back up AND them be customization. Hell I'd love to see people put customization posts up (and the ability to see the guild without the custom post box things like that one person with the space cat thing). Deleting posts and them actually being deleted? Fucking magical! Colors for posts? Hell Yeah! Dragon (User custom) Emoticons? OMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGOMFGYESYESYESYESYES!!! (Now I'm getting ahead of my self.)

But these things aren't free in any way, shape or form overall. Either it's paid by time or by cash for someone else to pay their time for it. Mahz needs both and still needs to update the site and that's also both time and money.

I think the biggest thing here is that the people that are leaving the guild are tired of being alone and left in the dark. We're all looking for Mahz and still he's nowhere in sight and we all really do need him on RPG again, showing his face around and being with the community. When this place started I didn't care how bad it was, it was new... But Mahz was still there engaging in conversation and talking with everyone in the community. HE WAS HERE! He was with us and trying his best for us at the time. I'm still thankful for the things he DID bring and make... like the Tabletop and the NationRP Forum sections. I love the new PM system and all that... but now it feels more empty and alone than ever because we literally have nobody able to fix the site up the way we want and it's not as fun as it used to be because there is no leadership to talk to about these problems.

So yeah, if someone could please get a hold of Mahz and talk to him or something and get him here and actually have him work things out with the guild members again and even work on the site a bit again that would be wonderful. I'd LOVE for some more updates on the update board and him back in the community talking with everyone about everything. Cause when he was here doing that, THAT was awesome!

Edit:

For now, some of you might be asking what you can even do in this current situation? Personally, I don't 100% know... What I do know is that we should encourage Mahz to come back and actually work on the site again... let us in on some information and on the "what dos" and "What hows" that he's been doing in the guild itself. We need to still be proud of the guild, even if it is in such a "pitiful state" and just be patient on it. If we all can encourage Mahz to not only want to work on the site, but at least be on it again once a day every day and be addicted to it maybe that'll help a bit. I'm not saying this will actually work, peoples' brains all run differently... but I am saying it's better than complaining on the negatives and doing nothing about it.

No... Clearly he's an 18 year old male that is really horny and wants some actual fucking material like the Barney Plush toy with 56 different "I love you" phrases each time you play with his tail, Ultra-Dino vibration action poses and a good "You love me" toy 'pop up' to play with. (batteries not included)
