Bio

21 year old white man. Do I get Social Justice points for being gay?

Lame (and somewhat rude) jokes aside, I'm an American college student majoring in Media Studies and hoping to work in game design. I've run several tabletop RPGs over the years, mostly in the vein of D&D and Pathfinder. I dabbled in forum RP years ago, and am hoping to have a joyous reunion with the art now.

My greatest strength is probably my ability to realize my weaknesses and take honest criticism without feeling put down. One of said weaknesses is my bad tendency to proofread after posting something, so feel free to point out spelling mistakes or small grammatical errors if I've left a post lying around a little while.

I swear I don't bite, though the zombies might. (Ask me about my moral position on Necromancy.)

@The Angry Goat, for that specific setting, yes! But if you just start from the baseline of "necromancy exists," you have a lot of very important questions. For instance, is there an afterlife it interferes with? Do bodies have any differences from (or advantages over) golems? How effectively can they be controlled, and what do they do when uncontrolled? Etc.
@Draken Think you'll appreciate this.

Well I mean, I didn't.

Unfortunately, though, I'm no neuronecrosurgeon, so it'll mostly be just a mindless, moving corpse.
@Lovejoy, what have you done? I love this old woman, and really wish Father Ilya was there for all of his reactions to this.
I'll fix it soon enough just so we can stay consistent. To be fair, NO idea what it says, context clues just point to diary.

I imagine you could recognize what seems to be a date every page or two?
Hm, what if we just had two seasons for two halves of the year? The Bright season and the Dark season. Would this work?

Dawn and Dusk festivals on the solstices. Boom. We're good now.

(And by "festival" I mean print on the calendar. I don't think Varya itself would place much value on celebrations, but the other nations likely did.)
To be honest, while I like the idea of changing season names (though I suggest instead of "warm" season making it the "bright" or "light" season in contrast to the "dark"), I generally dislike changing the names of week days. Maybe it's just because I constantly got confused by the practice as a kid, but I think it's needless complexity. You could change symbology, such as every Monday having a morning hour before breakfast dedicated to worship of Varya, but changing their names seems too confusing to me.

Also, perhaps we change spring and fall to be the dawn and dusk seasons? The most major difference in this world is the light hours, so perhaps we could keep that as a strong thematic in the seasons.
Ah! Yes! Hello! I'll start a PM with ya for that, Scout!

Actually, perhaps we could include @CollectorOfMyst as well? I imagine that we could devolve into some argument about the "extra circulars," leave a sour note, and then perhaps a small time lapse to a sort of reconciliation. Not a "buddy buddy" type, necessarily, but at least putting that one matter more or less to rest.
@Lovejoy I definitely like it. It wasn't what I expected but that doesn't matter at all; I'm having fun. And I like the chance to build a relationship with just one or two other characters before stuffing everyone in a tin and shipping them off, sardine style. ^.^

And this is where my failings as an RPer are showing! I should do a shorter collab with someone. Anyone's character want some "quality" time with Ilya? (Whatever that means for them.)
Aw do you guys not like the split prologue? I think it’s been pretty cool so far. Lots of really neat character moments and world building, as well as some introductory story foundation stuff that I’m hoping will pay off down the road. I know it’s been really slow so far, but I’m doing my best with a cast of this size.

I like it, it just wasn't what I expected. I thought we would each do a single large post or collab then move on to the main plot. This was largely become I completely missed the amount of time our "heroes" have to themselves and thought it was a single day.
May the year to come be a happy and healthy one for us all.

Let's all not die!
