@The Spectre I fail to see how that is any different. You just described all the things people do with their racist "jokes." Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

When the world ended no one saw it coming, saw them coming. They didn't just appear in mass in every major city like they did in the movies, didn't broadcast their arrival to the world. It started small and insignificant: just a couple of sick people, a couple of missing persons reports, and violent attacks chalked up to insanity or drugs. By the time anyone knew what was going on, what they were, it was already too late to stop them. Zombies, The Living Dead, by the time they caused everything to collapse the government barely even had time to pull together a response and the dead spread across the country like a wildfire, devouring everything that stood in their way. Within only two weeks The United States had fallen to the dead.
To make matters worse all contact with the rest of the world has been lost. To the survivors that now live amongst the undead their only one hope is also a possible pipe dream. Gargled radio broadcast tell of a place that has been secured as a save haven by the Army. A place the dead can't reach even if they tried; Alcatraz Island. The world's most famous inescapable prison may be mankind's last hope. Still no one knows if it still stands or if it really exist at all given that it's repeated radio broadcast is all anyone has to go on. Is it worth the risk to seek it out?
In the city of Blackwall, Colorado. A group of former students and children turned survivors that have taken residence in their local high school ask that very same question.
Zombies are slightly faster than your typical Romero variant though otherwise the same.
It's been a month and a half since the first infection.
Currently just starting Fall
Zombies are more aggressive when it rains. All of the extra sound created by the rain and thunder seem to put them on some sort of sensory overload. They don't like it.
St. Walkers isn't actually fully clear of zombies. When it was first being taken they managed to clear as many as they could given their ammo but managed to section off the remaining dead in certain hallways behind storm doors and locked with chains and locks. These hallways are generally to be avoided so they are not damaged. The hallways in question are one on the second floor and two on the fourth floor.
St. Walkers perimeter is surrounded by a security fence that was meant to keep truant students in but now keeps the dead out.

So The Walking Dead decided to become awesome again and now I'm on a zombie kick. So I'm proposing just a standard typical zombie apocalypse rp. Using an old premise that I like to use: a group of children and teenagers take refuge in their local high school during the zombie apocalypse and have to struggle against all the perils in a world of the dead. Things only get more complicated when they hear word of a safe zone on Alcatraz Island and must decide if they will risk the trip and seek out this place or stick it out there.
