Rain couldn't help but be impressed at the agility of the man. She knew that she couldn't do the same after receiving the same blow that he did. She appreciated the promptness of his following her instructions as the repairs moved along efficiently because of it. The feeling of tools in her hands once again put her in a good mood in spite of the pain she felt. She could especially feel the burning pain on her finger tips from when she grabbed onto the rocks as she fell into this area.

She listened passively as he explained to her about Celana. She had never heard the tale of this place before and found the legend to be rather interesting. She could even relate to the feeling of losing a home. After all the loss of her and her father's shop was the loss of a home in its own right.

She pointed out a couple more required items as she took a break from repairs to let her hands cool off a bit. He went around humming that familiar tune. "So, what's your name? I'm Rain."

She then noticed that someone else was humming that same tune in this cavern. She craned her neck to look at where the sound came from and decided to call out. "Who's there? You aren't one of those Gods are you? I don't want to go another round with the who's going to get my soul game."

Sooooo... I am so excited about what's going to happen next in this RP that I spent a good two hours before I fell asleep last night just thinking about what Anise is going to do next and what might just happen at the mines. Not to mention what she's thinking about on the trip there.

I hope I haven't overstepped my bounds with what Anise has done. She did quite a bit this post.

Anise did not blink or shrink away from the display of power shown by the Lord of Shadow. However, the fact that he made no attempt to destroy her puzzled her. The fact that she knew Peck was still alive relieved her. She would free him from the Shadow's grasp. Then came his voice:

Come alone to the mines under the Mountain, the Lord of Shadow's voice rumbled in her head. I'll be waiting.

Slowly, he faded away leaving Anise alone. Quite very alone. Frustration was Anise's first feeling after the Lord of Shadow left. Frustration that just after making a new friend he was ripped away from her. She lashed out and kicked a nearby tree which hurt, but she refused to acknowledge the aching pain that resulted from the kick. As she cooled down she just stood there staring at the tree.

Could she do this alone? With only two of the Lanterns? She shook her head to shake off the doubt that struck her. She grabbed the Lantern of Flight and started prying the frame apart. Freeing the Spirit Egg had done something significant now the time had come to completely free the Flight Egg. She used the nearby stones to help tear it apart. She felt a sharp pain as one of the wire-thin pieces of the frame pricked her hand. Blood flowed from her hand, but that didn't stop her efforts. Before too long she had completely dismantled the Lantern and pieces of it laid all over the ground.

Another thought ran through her mind as she stared at the pieces and she grabbed the same piece of the frame that cut her in her uncut hand. The hand she had injured was opposite of the one that held the rune the Lady of the Pond gave her. She channeled her frustration into her hand as she dug out the symbol of a sun into her hand. Her eyes watered as the iron rod tore through her hand and blood pooled, but she grit her teeth and persevered through the pain.

Her goal was the bring back something the Forest hadn't seen in a long time: light. True light. Something like that brief moment of sun that happened the other day. She focused her energy and power into this new rune. Soon the hot pain from the self-mutilation turned into a cool burning sensation. She wanted something she could use against the Lord of Shadow. Something that would send a message: the Lady of Light was back.

Upon finishing this task, she called on the healing waters using the gift of the Lady of the Pond to cleanse the wound. As the water washed away the blood and poured away the palm of her hand now had burned into it a symbol of the sun. She balled her hand into a fist and called onto the Flight Egg to pick her up.

Anise flew with the Eggs of the Dragon onward toward the mines of the mountain. Her face set with grim determination.
Alright! It's time to commit some serious taboos and create a monster! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Vincent barely registered the book the servant held as he left the ballroom and went down the hallway to the library. There were only a few books he knew he needed. Applications of the Soul of Advanced Devices by Saul Thorn and Regarding Dreams and the Application of the Soul by Rounard Skip. He knew the basics of soul application, which would help for simple objects that have no mechanical parts, but when it came to slightly more advanced techniques -- like the pen his father made for him -- he was completely out of his league.

He nearly burst through the door into the library and halted immediately when he saw the blood. He glanced around quickly to see that the blood streaked its way out an open window. Vincent bared his teeth at the thought of an intruder in his house. A killer. He cautiously made his way to the fireplace in the lounge area of the library and pulled the antique spear displayed over the fireplace. It was heavier than he expected and he nearly dropped it. The need for a weapon became very clear to him, and he needed to improve it quickly.

The spear was something from before Periphery and the fact that it was still in acceptable condition could be considered nothing but a miracle in Vincent's eyes. This was something from when humans still were in danger from the wild and magic hadn't been mastered yet. He felt that his father's mad desire to collect such antiques to be a waste of time, but now he was grateful for it. He laid the spear on the sofa in front of the fireplace and whipped his pen out and started writing the sigils required to absorb a soul and improve the weapon. Upon completion of the sigils he prepared Randy's soul and put the entire thing into the spear.

He couldn't help but feel a thrill and excitement over committing a taboo such as this. To use an entire soul on an item. Often times such an act was considered suicide and the ultimate act of a madman or self-sacrifice in a desperate time for a runemage. It was an unspoken taboo to use all of one's soul, so for Vincent to use the entire soul of another human could only be considered something even worse. He felt a thrill he had never felt before. Almost as if something about this filled in a void he hadn't realized he felt until now.

He licked his lips and grinned excitedly. "Thank you for your sacrifice, Randy. How about we go hunting for Grit?"

Saving the city meant destroying all the Grit. Therefor he had to create weapons to destroy them. He had seen the futility of basic weapons. Now he held a superweapon he wanted to see just how effective it was.

Oh that's a great map! Feels good to have an idea where our characters are.
@MsChimeric Oh no! Who is Vincent going to shamelessly flirt with???

On a more serious note, sad to see you go. It has been a lot of fun RPing with you. I hope we can RP together again sometime.

I've been becoming more and more satisfied with Rain's development as of late. Kind of reminds me of how I feel with Anise's development. This time I want to see how long she can go without acquiring super powers or magic of any kind.
