bump I have cravings
They had been wandering almost aimlessly for days, it was pure luck and chance they had not met anyone else in this forest as they made their way to find Lot and his camp. The days and nights had all blurred together, the knight and the princess were frozen to the bone, the weather had not been kind to them, and a rain that never seemed to ease continued to fall. It trickled down their necks and backs and made both of them irritable, Luna was not used to such conditions, her hands were numb from cold and the cut on her arm throbbed with a hot intensity that was so at odds with their world of freezing misery. However she said nothing for there was nothing anyone could do, Illy was dealing with the same situation and the only remedy for them was to continue and hope there was a warm welcome awaiting them. If she thought rationally it was Goya she felt most sorry for, as strong as a carthorse her bore them both uncomplaining but his head drooping more each day, he was indeed a war horse of noble stock.

Finally there came a time when Luna stirred herself from the chilled stupor she had been living in for the last few days. They had come to a cave with the obvious touch of a human hand; the cave itself was draped in a ragged cloth which hid the interior and ringed around the outside the importune palisades which although hasty were a good defence. Luna sighed as from behind the cloth they could see Lot’s pale face; he looked haggard but relieved to see them. She hadn’t even noticed that the rain had stopped around half an hour ago but still what a pitiful sight they made, all of them soaked to the skin, spattered in mud and grim as a funeral. It was Lot who made the first move as Luna and Illyce were both too weary to do anything, running forward he grasped Goya’s reins and lead him through the defences and into the cave, with its fire lit against the back wall the small space was cosy and warm.

“You two look horrible.” Lot said with a laugh, then seeing that no one was joining in his joke he made his way over to the saddle. They continued to sit in the saddle as though bound together neither having the strength or the will to dismount. Lot tutted under his breath but knew that he would have to be in charge for a while, leaning forward he took Illyce’s hands and after breaking her grip from around Luna he swung her down and off Goya, setting her down beside the fire. At the breaking of the contact Luna looked around in dazed confusion, the small timid noise of panic escaping her throat and Illyce responded to that sound, trying in vain to get to her feet. Lot made impatient but not unkind hushing noises at both of them as he reached up and took hold of Luna’s arms but when he felt the raging heat from one and the hiss of pain she made at his touch he instead grasped her slender waist and hoisted her down, placing her gently upon the floor next to Illyce.

Both ladies sat beside the fire trying to bring some warmth into their numb fingers while Lot unsaddled Goya and rubbed him down as best he could with a scrap of cloth until his coat was mostly dry. Then he scattered some oats down for Goya to lip sleepily at, brushing the sweat from his brow Lot then turned back to his companions. They sat propped up against each other, Luna’s head dropping onto Illyce’s shoulder, Illyce head cushioned in Luna silvery hair. Lot couldn’t help the smile on his face, they seemed so peaceful together and he was very loathed to disturb them, so moving forward he grabbed a blanket and draped it around their shoulders. Throwing another blanket across Goya’s withers, Lot moved to the front of the cave and settled himself in to keep watch.

The morning brought the first sunshine any of them had seen in days. Luna opened her eyes to its alien glow and looked around her in slight confusion, then her mind catching up with her senses Luna quickly spotted Lot, asleep by the entrance and Illyce still sleeping beside her. Gently Luna extricated herself from Illyce’s hold and stood stretching. Her clothes were finally dry and her hair too, reaching up she attempted to comb it with her fingers, as she stretched her arm out she hissed quietly. Turning her back on her companions Luna unwound the rough bandage, to her dismay she found the skin red and hot, although the wound was closed it was taught and painful to touch. Biting her lip she thought quickly, it didn’t pose much danger to her at the moment and in any case there was very little any of them could do about it at the moment, until they came to the next village their options for healing were very limited. Tying the bandage back around the cut Luna set about trying to keep herself busy, doling out another helping of oats of Goya and restocking the dying fire. She was just setting out a hot breakfast with the supplies from Goya’s saddlebags when her companions began to show signs of waking.

“Good morning!” Luna said her cheerful cadence lighting up the cave as much as the newly built fire. It was Illyce’s bright eyes that she caught with her blue doe eyed gaze and she could not help the bright smile that spread across her lips. “Good morning Illyce, glad I am to see you properly. Sitting astride Goya doesn’t really present much of a chance to chat. Come I am making breakfast for you, I think we need it. You too sir Lot, you who aided us when we needed it most, to you I am heartily grateful. Come eat, then we can discuss our next steps.”
They had already made their way up the steps and were on the way to the hospital wing and Fey started to feel quite weary. Sighing slightly and running a hand through her hair Fey tried to remember her timetable, remembering stuff wasn’t her strong point.

“I have transfiguration, history of magic and we have the same after lunch schedule, I think we are in the same Defence class. And I agree Matron Whitehart is not unkind nor is she unobservant I’m sure she will understand. I’m sure she has heard all kind of stories of how students have gotten themselves scraped.” It was then that Fey realised that they were standing before the hospital wing doors, taking a breath Fey pushed the door open. As soon as they crossed the threshold the matron swooped down upon them. At forty something she had a soft motherly face, warm brown hair that was tied in a lose bun and deep chocolate eyes with a slight hint of laughter lines. It was these eyes that raked across the two students and quickly she found the cut at Fey’s temple which unbeknownst to any of them had began to bleed sluggishly, head wounds were notorious for continuously bleeding.

“Well well, you from the same class as them two I just patched up.” She tsked under her breath and mentioned something about dangerous classes. “Come and sit down and let’s patch you up.” Suddenly making them all jump the bell rang out and Fey couldn’t help the nervous giggle that escaped her after the shock as she sat down on the edge of the nearest bed. Within a moment the matron was back with a silver try with some green potion and bandages, even from a distance they could smell the antiseptic fluid; Fey wrinkled her nose as she looked at Xavier. Turning away from her patient for a moment Matron Whitehart gazed intently at Xavier too. “You better run along young man, this will take a little while to clean and dress and she is going to be later for the next class as it is no need for two of you to be late. Run along now.” She made a small shooing motion towards him and Fey caught his eye again from behind her elbow and shrugged apologetically. Then with mechanical precision the matron pulled around the privacy screens. It was then with a hiss of pain that Matron Whitehart applied the first swipe of antiseptic potions.

It was a few hours later at lunch time when Fey made her way to the great hall, she had a bandaged head and she hated it, she kept pawing at it in an absentminded way. She had been late to transfiguration but after a few moments of being glared at like an eagle by Professor Mcgonagall where she took in the bandage around her head but then she just carried on with her lesson and Fey was able to sit down next to Amy. And now with a sigh Fey took her seat at the Slytherin table in the great hall and laid her head down on the table.

“Urghh today feels so long and its only lunch.” She whined and beside her she heard Amy giggle and her hair was suddenly being stroked gently.

Sophia looked intently at Dru from under her long eyelashes when he mentioned they were a research guild with a speciality for weather magic. Although she had been going to any guild regardless of speciality a little spring of hope had welled up inside her when he mentioned this, it was too big a coincidence. However she tried to keep her face as impassive as possible as they walked. Within a surprisingly short space of time they were standing before a large gate that sheltered a magnificent building, she had seen a lot of cities and towns and never had she seen a building like this. It was a large stone building that looked out over the entire town, at least two stories higher than any other building. Built of some kind of stone that sparkled in the sun Sophia gasped, her mouth hanging open, every inch of the building was intricately carved in fantastical shapes, in fact no part of the building was left in its original shape. All she could articulate was a low “whoa.”

"Well, here we are. This is home. Now, uh... You might find that it's a bit different from what you expect, but be sure to give it a chance, okay? Whatever you need, they'll be able to help. Trust me." Shutting her mouth to smile at him properly Sophia strode forward with determination with a veiled amount of trepidation at what she would find and hoping that she would finally get an answer. She was so caught up in her own thoughts she missed the emotions that flickered across his face.

“I’m sure I will find what I am looking for, I just have the feeling.” Placing a hand on the large wooden doors she took a deep breath and pushed the door open. Entering the room Sophia’s senses were overwhelmed for a moment, it was bright and crowded and noisy, oh the noise. Blinking rapidly and giving a small shake of her head her eyes swept the room as she looked around at the groups that were sprawled around the hall. Everyone was doing something different, some were drinking, others were gathered at the jobs board and some were just lolling around flexing their muscles at each other or arguing. The hubbub was spectacular within the hall and despite all their differences there was one thing that connected everyone, they were all, there was no other word for it, they were gorgeous. Every single one of them would not have looked out of place on a catwalk and as she stood in the doorway the light shining behind her Sophia suddenly felt self-conscious, was there really any other emotions when surrounded by such beautiful people who were by now starting to turn towards the door.

Blush creeping across her fair skin Sophia stood for a moment like a deer in the headlights as everyone’s face turned towards her. Then her eyes fell on the man who must be the master of the guild and grateful for a purpose to follow she glanced back at Dru for a moment and then walked lithely forward towards the large bald, cross dressing man. However he like everyone else had stopped where he had been scolding two guild members and began walking towards her. Stopping before her he grasped her hands Sophia looked up into his smiling bald face and she found it was almost impossible not to smile back.

“Well hello my dear, what has young Dru brought in for us today. My name is Bob, master of the blue Pegasus guild.” Sophia bobbed a small curtsey which was slightly hampered by the fact her hands were still claimed in the master’s large ones.

“Master Bob, my name is Sophia Hawthorne and I have a matter of the utmost urgency that I need to discuss.” She turned her face to Dru, her lilac eyes finding him hovering in the crowd, “Dru has already told me Richard Metalious is out at the moment but that you may be able to help in what I seek. Can we talk in private please?” She implored him, her face serious. Bob gazed at her for a moment and nodded, releasing one hand and leading her to his private solar.
Fey smiled, it was one of her talents being able to get people to open up and talk, even the shyest of people could be coaxed out of their shells, mainly because she herself knew what it was to be shy and to wish someone would speak to her. It was interesting to learn about someone else’s life you were never quite sure what they were going to say or what details they would surprise you with. Gracing him with an easy smile in thanks for him opening up to her Fey shook out her honeyed tresses.

“Me,” She laughed lightly, “I’m no one of any consequence really. My family is pureblood but no one has ever heard of us.” Pausing for a moment she placed a delicate finger on her chin as she contemplated. “I don’t have any brothers or sisters so I actually think you’re quite lucky, even if you don’t like him that much, but I have my parents both of whom are in muggle relations, they come back and tell me so many interesting stories.” She wondered for just a second if she should trust Xavier with her secrete but she quickly decided that the time was not yet right, they had only just met. “And even with what has happened today I think that care of magical creatures is one of my favourite lessons, I love animals. However you’re right, I have a feeling the bell is going to ring soon, and as fun as this has been I really better get this cut cleaned up, it’s not exactly improving my looks.” She gave a small self-deprecating laugh and with a flourish of robes Fey got to her feet dusting herself off. “Come, we can carry on our conversation after I have been clucked and fussed over by matron Whitehart.”

Suddenly from above there came a soft hoot and Xavier’s beautiful snowy owl came soaring down towards them, coming to rest upon Xavier’s shoulder. Hooting once again she fixed her bright eyes on him and bobbed her head a few times.

“Ah so I take this to mean that the cost is now clear.” To which the owl hooted in response. Smiling widely at Xavier she held out a hand invitingly to him. “Coming or do you have another class you need to get to, its nearly time after all?”

Flames still rippling over her body with no more heat than a warm breeze Kitsuna slipped from Ren’s back and trotted round to his face, one ear sticking up the other down, intrigue written all over her face. She watched him intently as he spoke as she understood, could almost feel it in the air that something important and irreversible was occurring. Once he had spoken his piece Kitsuna considered for a moment as she knew her words were important. Her flames stilled and died as she sat on her haunches.

“Well without your intervention that night we met I believe I would not have survived the humans or their hounds. So the way I see it I am living on borrowed time anyway, every single day I see another sunrise is a blessing. At least dying with a friend is better than living, surviving all alone, I have had my fill of loneliness.” Her eyes seemed somewhat distant as she spoke, looking almost past Ren and into the past. Bringing herself back with a shake Kitsuna rose to her feet and started to pace before him.

“Now I will be clear as well, I recognise no alpha, never had, never will. My mind and body are my own and no one will ever have command over them except myself.” She paused for a moment, she had seen packs where alphas were tyrants and those under their rule had no other choice but to suffer their abuse. “But I do recognise you as my friend and that I value above all else. To you I promise not to leave except to the cold embrace of death.” Being dramatic was in her nature and it attended her with full force this evening. Kitsuna stopped in front of Ren and reached out to place a paw into the thick fur of his chest. “I repeat you are mine and I am yours. It appears that our fates are bound.” Her blue eyes met his and held for a moment keeping his gaze.

Then she turned from him and pranced, there was no other word for the bouncing motion away from him and then back again. Giving herself a hearty shake Kitsuna then stretching till her limbs protested at the movement she plonked herself down at his feet. Exhaustion had crept over while they spoke and after such an intense conversation, the likes of which she had never had she was just drained mentally and physically.

“Ren come and sleep now, I promise you I don’t indent to sneak off anywhere.”
A yawn was the only appropriate way to greet the day in losa's opinion and after that the only logical thing to do was stretch, a stretch that started at her front paws where she wiggled her toes, along her arching spine and down with a final swipe to her tail. Opening her soft violet eyes Iosa surveyed her new surroundings. She was currently in a large but single roomed building that was full of piles and piles and piles of stuff, it was like a mountain range of books, dried herbs, potion making kits and other fantastical items. Where she sat at the moment was a small purple cushion she had been bought with, tucked away in the corner.

Iosa was only a month old and her eyes had only been open for a matter of day, although she was sad to be away from her mother and her brothers and sisters it was quite exciting to be in a new place. Sitting herself up Iosa proceeded to wash her furr down as was the normal morning ritual for all cats unlike most cats while she licked little flurries of snow could be seen sparkling down around her and melting before hitting the floor. Deciding she was now presentable and ready it was time to begin exploring, she had been too tired the day before. It was only yesterday that she had been bought from the magical market and brought here and after the stress of that all she had wanted to do was sleep.

Springing forward with athletic bounds up and over the pile of books which had been separating her from the rest of the room she reached the top of the pile. Feeling brave and emboldened from the climb Iosa let lose what was supposed to be a ferocious meow, but her voice was still tinny and squeaky. It was then that she noticed over in the corner the human who had bought she yesterday, it appeared to be a female human but Iosa was really no good with human genders, they were all so tall and squishy how they told each other apart was a mystery. At her meow the human looked over and smiled, then walking quickly over Iosa found herself being picked up and under her chin tickled.

"Well little whiskers, how are you this morning." It was a pleasant surprise to Iosa that she could understand the human words and she mewed back in reply. However all she received back was a smile and some gentle cooing noises, it seemed that she could understand the human but the human couldn't understand her. "Well let's get you some breakfast." And Iosa was carried over to another corner where a sat three food bowls and one large bowl of fresh water. Mewing with excitement Iosa leapt forward and stuck her nose straight in the food bowl.
Sophia eyes widened in surprise, she hadn’t taken in the persons appearance when she had spoken to him but now she was up close it was almost uncanny the similarities in their appearance. They were both lithe; with an almost fragile look to them but strangest of all was their hair, similarly pale, his hair colour of new snow, hers the brilliance of light on water. The main difference apart of the obvious point of gender was their eyes; his were deep pools of rich amber which shimmered in the light. When he spoke his voice was clear and bright as he looked at her with a small hint of confusion and curiosity.

"Oh... Actually, I'm part of that Guild. Did you need help with something? My name's Dru, nice to meet you." He said putting forth his hand to which she smiled and shook politely.

“It is a pleasure to meet you Dru, how fortunate I am to actually find a guild member. My name is Sophia Hawthorne and I am very much hoping you can help me, I am seeking Richard Metalious also known as the scientific wizard. I need to speak to him most urgently and the latest information claims he is with your guild.” Her face bore line of worry as she spoke, that her information was bad and she had been chasing yet another cold trail. However she relaxed as he nodded at her and was just about to speak when the merchant who’s stall they had been standing next to suddenly interrupted them.
“Dru, I’ll have the items request dropped off at the guild by tomorrow. I’m afraid you will have to tell your grandmaster that I won’t have any more blue crystals until next week, the shipment has been delayed.” Dru nodded to the man and handed over a few silver coins.

“Half payment now and the rest when the goods are delivered, as per normal.” The merchant nodded and turned his attention back to the other customers around his stall while Dru turned back to her. “Sorry about that, shall we?” He gestured politely for her to follow him and together they made their way from the market and deeper into town itself towards the large guild hall. Despite moving away from the market place the town was still full of people, coupled with the bright sunlight that warmed the air Sophia actually found herself relaxing for the first time in ages.

“So Dru, I don’t want to seem impolite but I know hardly anything about the blue Pegasus guild, what are their main specialties, most guilds have a certain reputation for particular exploits.” Her face was alive with curiosity as a traveller and one without a guild it was fascinating to her to see all the different ways and usage of magic.
Fey brought her knees under her chin mimicking Xavier’s stance while she gazed out over the lake as he talked. It was true what he was saying about the wizarding war, there was no denying that there was great good that came from that however it had spread cracks, fractures in their world that would not easily heal. But overall, she mused, the world was a more peaceful place now than it had been for a long time.

However there had been whispers, not only ones directed at the pure bloods and Slytherins but of something else, Fey didn’t know what but it was a feeling deep within her that told her something was wrong. Lost in these thoughts for a few moments she was quite and noticed nothing of the world around her however she quickly came back to the present and turned her face back to Xavier.

“Now believe me I have read Harry’s book and it is an interesting read. But I asked about you Xavier.” There was a twinkle in her eyes as she spoke. “I now know that you have a brother but I still know zip about you. What you like? Dislike? Or let’s just start small, what’s your favourite subject?”

Magic cost:

Early stages of decay-

- Low grade spells/ very basic magic = a feeling of weakness or a headache. The more powerful the wizard the less this level affects them.

- Low to medium = weakness is more pronounced, shaky limbs, dizzy.

- Medium = Nose bleeds, migraines

- High/ powerful spells = coughing up blood, pain throughout the body. (Wouldn't kill a person)

- Very powerful = random cuts to the body, depth and length depend on the spell. (May serious harm a person)

These affects stack, so if you move through the spell power levels you will progressively feel worse and worse.

More to be added later.
