Bio

Salut, I'm Ember Storm.

Just a fellow with some role-playing experience, I tend to play games like DnD and Pathfinder, or RPGs like DARK SOULS. I'm here because Kokotha just moved here.

Don't ask me to take part in your pony RPs; I'm probably not interested. I just like the show.

Isambard frowned, taking notes. After finishing, one not proficient in shorthand might find his page full of weird scribbles and symbols, but, to the engineer, everything was perfectly legible. Once Juniper had finished throwing queries at the young man, Isambard took a turn. His voice soft but audible, he began. "I'm more concerned with general culture. What is and isn't acceptable in Aubune that differs from Kokotha? Language differences? How do they expect others to carry themselves? That sort of thing."

Although he did not reveal it, he certainly admired June's enthusiasm. Young folk, he thought. Certainly an interesting group of demographics.

Isambard obliged, stubbing out his cigar on a piece of slate that suddenly appeared in his hand. "My apologies, my good man," he said, following the younger two UM members into the meeting room. He sat down in one of the chairs, pulling a small leather-bound notebook out of a pocket in his suit jacket and placing it on the table in front of him along with a pen that had until recently been in his breast pocket. The cigar, now cool, was placed inside a small case and thrust into a pocket in his trousers, so as to keep his clothing - immaculate despite the work he usually did - clean of ash.

"Pray tell, is there a primer as to why we might be here?" He asked finally.

The engineer puffed on his cigar and nodded at both June and the beastkin, making a genuine effort to keep the noxious fumes out of the faces of his companions. "I say," he began, brushing some ash off his shoulder, "What brings us here?" He wasn't much of an Amalgamate expert and he shied away from an active role in the fight against those Amalgamates that couldn't be reasoned with, so it made little sense for him to have business here.

Still, he was ever the gentleman, and as such he confirmed he had received a summons. "Just the pair of us had the summons,
then? Whatever would you require us for here in the Eh-Arr-Be?"
His words were soft, his pronunciation much more subtle than the average citizen of Kokotha. Usually, if the job required some form of communication and Isambard was available, he was asked to lend a hand. His voice had that kind of effect. It also helped that he didn't tend to worry about race or class when talking to others, unlike some that would still discriminate for ignorant and, in Isambard's mind, silly reasons.
A somewhat stout fellow finished welding some metal together and began to address the paperwork he had just been left by one of the junior members of the Universal Machine. It was a single envelope.

Frowning, he puffed on the cigar he had just lit as he slid a letter opener through the gap in the envelope's folds, opening it to reveal a summons.

Strange, he thought. Normally there's some hint as to what's going to be discussed.

He set the message on his desk, cluttered as it was with other blueprints and paperwork and small pieces of mechanical tinkering, donned his trademark top hat, and ambled on down towards the meeting room.

"Yeah, yeah," he replied, "Rub it in, eh?" He chuckled nervously. The adrenaline from the night's events still raced through his veins. At Mercury's question, he nodded, however, continuing, "D'you know how t'reach 'em or are we ess-oh-ell on that until we get back t' New Wickburough?"

Astrid dusted off her shoulders. "I could be better," she said before scowling. "Damn dhe Children! We lost a man and dhere will be many more deadhs to come if we do not do something!" As much as she didn't consider herself a part of the Old Path anymore, someone needed to make sure they knew that everything was just a front for the Children. She glanced back at the pile of rubble. "Let us be moving."

"Not that I know of, lass," Duff said, rubbing the wounds in his arm. "They're tough cookies, though. Should be fine." He looked over at Gregor. "Not gonna say I'm not grateful yeh got us outta there what with that tree-lookin' fellow comin' at us, but yeh sure yeh couldn't've gotten a bigger room? 'Sides the point, where even are we? Never been through a hole in the air into an office b'fore."

He glanced around, noting the decor and thinking on the unusual method they got here. "Aw, Forest no. This is that friggin' magic world, eh? On'y thing I can think of it bein'. Mate, am I gonna be all right here?"

Astrid didn't miss a beat when Johnny attacked. Pulling on her Brand, she began to suck the moisture out of the air behind their adversary and his beetle-Amalgamate. The result of this was clever: A breeze began to push Johnny along faster, insuring that his blade would impact with even more force. As well, as the mist she was moving about condensed, all of that energy had to go somewhere, and something would heat up. She chose to see just how hot she could make the atmosphere around their opponent - not only would the temperature increase, but the condensation would also cloud his vision. Johnny could complete his attack and the two women should be able to skirt past a hopefully blinded Child before the steam cleared. Clean and clear. Hopefully.

"He's on 'is way!" Duff called over as Gregor's portal popped into existence. Upon the conman's directives, Duff lingered just long enough to fire a single Voidtip down the hallway, hoping to slow the knight enough for the quartet to escape. The soldier had no idea what their new adversary was capable of, and he didn't intend to stick around long enough to find out. Unsure of what would happen to him - a non-Caster - through the portal, but also lacking any time for self-debate, Duff ran through.

"Hurry it up, eh mate?" Duff called over from his position. "Wouldn't be surprised if they're on their bleedin' way!" He had taken cover around the corner in Gustrag's room, the barrel of his beloved rifle ready to fire down the corridor to the room they had just fought Xenan in. There's only so long I'll be able t'keep anyone offa yeh!"

Astrid scowled. "Oh for the love of Kodo'Yim," she said. Bringing her hands together, she pulled the Mist into a large, almost opaque cloud around the newcomer before igniting it with a dull roar. Turning to the door, she addressed her colleagues.
"Let us go." She was seething.

"Discord. Hatred. War. All dhings dhat would strengdhen dheir ability to move in dhe shadows. Dhen, when we are all weak from dhe infighting, dhey swoop in and destroy all who remain. It is a classic technique in warfare." Astrid bristled, her voice cold and full of spite. "We need to leave, I dhink. Dhey know we are here; it is only a matter of time before more of dhese elites -" she spat at that word, continuing, "- show up and outnumber us. Dhen we can go to dhe Old Padh and clear dhis nonsense up. It will require a united front to fight dhese... assholes."
