@yoshua171 Funny you should mention that, but I actually do it very differently than other typer of characters ^^. With Bleach characters I tend to start with their Zanpakuto-spirit: it's personality, the inner world, then the abilities of the Shikai (and possibly the Bankai). When I have established these I create the character around these "themes" or "ideas". I think the reason for why I do it this way is because I see the spirit as the essence of a Shinigami and the seed for how the Shinigami acts and develops.
An example could be one of my pre-existing characters whose manipulative and teasing persona came from her Zanpakuto's trickster-like personality and illusion based abilities.
Not sure this is the best way, but I have just always done it like this for some reason or another...
