Bio

Hiii, I am Empour. I like roleplaying, but I have some kinda specific tastes. I have been doing this on-and-off for a few years, not always on this site. Be warned, my oldest stuff is exceptionally terrible.

I tend to prefer games which are not set in the present day. I like magic and stuff. Whether that magic takes the form of typical magical magic or "technology," I like it either way. I also loooove Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon and its universe, much more so than the standard one.

I like to create characters based on silly concepts, and then use them seriously to the best of my ability. If my characters sound a little bit ridiculous to you, that's probably intentional.

Previous highlights include:

A colonialist teenage witch, fresh out of magic school and ready to oppress some natives overseas for profit

A spacefaring civilization of communist pixies from beyond the galaxy

A scuba-wearing magical girl in a mysterious, creepy world of dreams and nightmares

A completely paralyzed blacksmith, who could do magnet magic or something

Hat

Valiant Village, Main street, midday

On top of the tower, there were various telescopes, binoculars, and all sorts of similar equipment. Hat supposed this was the town’s local stargazing place, but it was also pretty good for looking at the layout of the town. There were many different strange buildings here.

Some buildings were brightly colored, others were decorated in an obvious theme. One such building was obviously a kecleon shop. Hat noted its location- She didn’t want to get too close to it if she could help it.

Eventually, though, she saw what looked to be the guild. It was a couple of larger buildings, only distinguishable from the rest by the obvious training equipment along the outside. The Pokemon there moved in small groups. Teams, obviously. Looks like she’d found her target.

However, despite knowing what it looked like, Hat had absolutely no idea how to approach it and learn more about it. She supposed she could try and sneak around it, to get a closer look, but given how many Pokemon were there, it would be risky, and hard to explain if she got caught.

If she was feeling particularly bold, she could even try to go in directly, under the premise of looking to join the guild. She had no such intention, obviously, guilds tended to take far, far too much of their member’s earnings for her liking.

Suddenly, she noticed something. Along one of the little walls of the tower, there were various posters. Most of them were promotional, advertising products or jobs, but there were a few that most certainly weren’t.

Wanted posters. There were a few nasty-looking Pokemon on it, a Beedrill, a Scizor, a Jinx. They all had some serious cash listed under their names, the Scizor especially. Hat briefly considered trying to catch one, but immediately threw the idea away. There was no way she could beat monsters like these.

Perhaps, though, if she were to “help” with the capture of one, the townspeople would give her a share of the reward. If not, at the very least she’d gain a lot of respect. Nobody would expect a criminal to help catch another criminal, right?

She considered the idea. She hadn’t actually seen a single one of these wanted Pokemon, but she could just as easily pretend she did. The mountainous forest she’d gone through on her way over was relatively thick, but could certainly house a Beedrill or Scizor inside. All she had to do was go to the guild, and say she spotted one of them on her way over from Misty Town. Easy.

If things went sour, she could also use the chance to quickly take what she could from the guild, too. After all, who’d be left behind, defending the place, if there was a nearby dangerous criminal?

Hat decided that this was her best option. If she could gain the respect of the townspeople like this, it’d be much easier to slip in and lie low. Much, much easier.

Hat climbed down from the tower. She knew where the guild was, but she still needed to make certain of it. She couldn’t be going and babbling to some random farmer about how Grease the Beedrill was nearby and dangerous, she had to go and babble about that to the guild.

She looked around. There were plenty of people to ask, so she decided to ask the least busy-looking person, a Mawile petting an Eevee down near the water. The Mawile looked strong- Maybe it was a member of the guild.

Hat made her way over. Upon a closer look, the Eevee was even fluffier than expected. The Mawile was definitely not. When she was close enough to hear that they were actually talking to each other, she hesitated. They hadn’t noticed her yet, and she didn’t want to make a poor impression.

Of course, she did need to know exactly where the guild was. She waited for a pause in their conversation, then spoke up.

“Hey, you two,” she said, “Either of you know where the guild is?”

She never did like her voice. It was very high-pitched, which tended to clash with her gruff Sneasel-esque accent comically. She couldn’t get rid of either half, no matter how much her ex-teammates had laughed about it. She hoped these two wouldn’t.
Hat

Nearing the end of a beaten road, midday

There it was.

After a month of walking, Hat was finally at her journey’s end. The town was in sight.

She’d spent a long, long time on the road, sneaking through dungeons and eating what she could find. It had been agonizingly quiet and lonely, with nobody to talk to. Still, though, the time spent alone gave her plenty of time to think, plan, and reflect, even with nobody to bounce ideas off of.

Hat passed by a small berry farm, on the outskirts of the town. There were Pokemon there, working, tending the crops. Considering her position, she might even end up joining them. She didn’t know just what was going to happen, when she arrived at the town. It could be that she’d been identified in the getaway, and that there was a warrant out for her arrest. If that was the case, she would have to escape as quickly as possible. Hat could do that, Hat was fast.

On the other end of the scale, she could be little more than just another traveler, passing through the town. If that was the case, Hat could easily just slip right in, and find her way into the Guild’s treasure pile. It certainly wouldn’t be easy, but...

A thought occurred to her. Normally, for a robbery like this, the team would use all of its powers available, with half the team going in and learning about the place, and the other half attacking. Now, though, she didn’t have the luxury of information she so desperately needed. There was no way to quickly learn about the guild’s secrets and weaknesses, with only one Pokemon. She would have to stick around for a long time, and lie low as she did. Maybe even get a job, for food.

Not an easy prospect, but easier than failing and ending up with Weave in the bottom of an oubliette somewhere. Certainly easier than going out and trying to learn a whole new profession, too. It was springtime now, Hat actually had to buy food. She couldn’t do that if she was trying to learn how to play a flute.

She could always steal, but that would likely put whoever she stole from on edge. She didn’t want to get caught.

Finally, the first houses of the village proper came into sight. They were tall, beautifully-crafted, and well-stocked with chimneys for the winter months. Hat was impressed. She’d been expecting something... Smaller, dinkier, for a town known only for an exploration guild.

As she walked through the town, she could see all the little Pokemon that lived there, bustling about, doing work. There were Pokemon working gardens, Pokemon running shops, Pokemon buying from them. The town was absolutely abuzz with energy. Hat couldn’t even tell where the exploration guild was supposed to be- She’d been expecting it to be the liveliest place in town, but the whole town was even livelier than that!

Hat opted to explore. There’s nothing illegal about exploring a town, right?

Hat, after looking around and darting between the much taller Pokemon around her, eventually noticed a high point, a tall tower with a roof and a staircase, a fair distance away. Seeing no other way to see over the insurmountable mass of tall Pokemon around her, she made her way towards it.
Finally caught up with all the IC, expect my first post tonight!
I'm reading through the IC right now, and... well, I wanted to make a small request. Would it be possible for those of you using really dark colors, @Iatos in particular, to switch to something a little bit more readable, given the website's dark theme? It's very hard to read when the little Zorua talks, because the color blends in with the background so well. I've got around this by highlighting it with my cursor, but it feels, well, kinda not-right doing that.

Name:
Hat

Gender:
Female

Pokemon:
Snorunt

Backstory:
Hat was born somewhere cold, in the middle of a group of Sneasel. She had been found, still in her egg, abandoned in a ruined building. They, thinking a little kid to look after sounded like loads of fun, wound up hatching her a month or so after being found. The Sneasel were delighted to see the baby Snorunt in her little hat, and immediately decided to name her exactly that, Hat.

As months passed, they took her on their various adventures, exploring all sorts of fun places, like cities, caverns, castles, and more. It was always very exciting, and they were always very happy at the end of it. Eventually, when she’d grown to the point of being able to talk and recognize evil monsters, they decided to put her to use, usually as a lookout. She was pretty good at being a lookout!

After a few years of this treatment, she started to get her own little personality. She started to grow envious of the pretty treasures that the others would get at the end of their adventures, and often stole little things from the loot before they were distributed. She was usually caught, and subsequently punished by Sney, the one in charge of looking after her most of the time. She didn’t learn not to steal, though. She just learned not to get caught.

After an even longer period of time, she started to be asked to be put into more active roles on the team. By now, she knew that they weren’t usually actually exploring abandoned castles and towns to defeat evil monsters and earn all the treasure they got. Rather, they were exploring, raiding, and looting fully populated castles and towns for all the wealth of the Pokemon within. Most of the time, anyway.

Somehow, this didn’t really bother her. The Pokemon had stuff that they wanted, so they took it. It felt natural to take things from the weak and inattentive when they weren’t looking. The sneasels agreed.

Years more of this sort of life, Hat was a proper adult. She could take care of herself, fend for herself, and provide for others. She was a functional member of Team Windchill, and treated the rest of the team like family.

The rest of the team, though, was getting older. They were getting slower, weaker, and slipping up more. The leader, Weave, attributed this to sloppiness, and drilled them for discipline. Everyone, though, knew that it was just age. They had to retire, soon.

Eventually, Weave brought an idea to the team. They didn’t really have the money to retire, and there were many, many bounties out for most of the team. They couldn’t just settle down somewhere. Instead, he said, they should pull off one big, last heist, to get all the wealth they could need for the rest of their lives.

The place was a Kecleon storehouse, well-hidden and guarded. They would sneak in during the night of a blizzard, steal all the most valuable things they could, and escape before they were even detected.

That was the plan, and the plan failed. Somewhere along the line, one of the sneasel was spotted, and the whole guard force was brought to bear. The entire half of the team responsible for going inside was captured, fortunately not including Hat, who was on lookout once more. The half of the team that escaped split, mutually agreeing that sticking together was just a good way to get identified. Hat, for the first time in her life, is now alone.

Alone and wandering the cold forests of the north, she eventually came upon a town. There wasn’t anything exceptional about it, other than that it was currently host to a team of explorers. After being inadvertently forced into a conversation with them, she learned of the faraway Valiant Village, where she could likely get enough money from the guild’s own pile of loot to live off of. Lacking money or a better plan, Hat decided to make her way over.

It’s been a month of slow travelling since then, but she’s finally arrived at the outskirts of the town.

Personality:
Greedy and sneaky enough to try to steal from a Kecleon, but cowardly enough not to. A small, petty criminal of the lowest caliber, always careful to ensure she does not get caught. Dishonorable, rude, and only diligent when it comes to feeding her lust for wealth.

Gregarious only when she wants something, quiet at all other times. Avoids conflict.

Team:
At one point a part of the late Team Windchill, an icy outlaw team of mostly Sneasels. No longer with them, as the team broke up after the leader(and half the team with him) was arrested. Managed to always escape without being identified by police forces, and thus lacks a bounty or criminal record.

Moveset:
Powder Snow
Leer
Double Team
Ice Shard

Special Features:
One of her teeth was damaged in a fight, and eventually replaced with gold. It’s very shiny now.

Family:
Long-lost mother and father. Nothing is known about them, save for an unintelligible map of some variety found with her egg, which she carries with her under her hat.

Guild Affiliation:
None.

Please post in OOC until I give the go-ahead for IC. I'm looking for a small group of aproximately 7 players. Do not use the Characters tab for applications.
Distant Haven

Welcome to the future. In space. With ships. Spaceships.
You’re some low-life, a human, who needs some money and doesn’t mind beating a few moron’s heads in for it. You have all been hired by Jafar’s Great Job List to investigate electrical anomalies on a big Mercury solar farm. You and the other players have been assembled into one or two teams, the likes of which has been seen semi-frequently before. You will tackle jobs together, provided you make it out of this one alive.

Anyway, here you are, in the future. Mankind’s done a pretty good job of colonizing the solar system, and one private entity has even managed to create a ferry between stars. The world outside of regulated planets and stations is pretty wild, all things considered. Think the wild west, only in space. There’s no west in space. It’s just wild all around.

In this particular game, I will control everything that’s not you. I am the world, the universe, the life of the world, the environment, the bad guys, the good guys, the neutrals, the dead and the living. Power trip over. I’m the GM. I won’t have a character, because I control the NPCs and stuff. Enjoy.
(@Civetta will be acting as the character-based moderator)

Rules & Conduct:

  • Don’t take control over other people’s characters, unless one of the GMs and the owner of the character themselves give you the go-ahead. If someone leaves, we’ll work out who should take over the dude they were in control over. Or murder them.
  • Don’t do the sexy stuff here. This roleplay is for shootyshooty, not bangybangy.
  • Don’t be a jerk. Your little bounty hunter or whatever, sure, go ahead. Keep yourself separated from your character in this regard, if you wanna do that. Treat the other players with respect, basically.
  • Please keep in mind that if you decide to go off on your own for whatever reason, even if you’re still technically with the team, damages the whole cooperative aspect of the roleplay. Try to get along with the others. Nobody likes a loner.
  • Try not to treat the roleplay like a game you have to win. Losing is an important part of pretty much every story out there. Probably including this one.
  • Remember to have fun. The rules can be bent or outright changed, if need be. Talk to me if you’re unsure about something.
  • No godmodding or metagaming, you know the drill.

CHARACTER CREATION:

Your character must be human. No extraterrestrials, dogs, cyborgs, dragons, or psychics allowed.
Your character is a newbie mercenary or bounty hunter of some variety.
Your character is not a seasoned killer. They are an unseasoned, undercooked killer. They’re that soldier who was in one battle, didn’t actually manage to win, and deserted before fighting anyone. They suck at murder. This will change, eventually.

You don’t need some crazy character sheet, just whichever information you think is relevant. Please include a physical description, the name, and a little tiny bit of what they did before Jafar’s Great Job List convinced them to work for Jafar.

Alongside your basic character information, please include a sample of your writing ability by creating a small scene in a spaceport. The character is approached by a man with a thick new yorker accent, who in some way or another convinces them to work for Jafar’s Great Job List. Please use at least five sentences in this section. This will be posted to the IC, once you have been accepted.

Good luck, Septic. I hope we can continue this once things calm down.
I've honestly lost interest in this. Mainly because I went to the tavern and not a single damn person interacted with me, and I don't have a single fucking clue what's going on to catch up and try to jump in.

Nice subtitle, though. RIP David Bowie and all that crap.

For the record, I was hoping to get Enrique, Aldrich, and maybe Cassy over to Rockvale to pick you up. Felt like they'd make a good team. If you're interested, I can mention you when they reach there.
