Tory Elizabeth Borland

Business Owner | Fourty-Five | Female

Personality:
Tory values hard work, honesty, and those crazy nights of her youth with Mr. Jack Daniels. She has never been one to hold her tongue, believing that sometimes the world needs less people tipping around on their toes and more people to tell you how it is. A woman of many strong opinions and the voice to let them be heard, she’s also a woman of fierce loyalty. She puts everything on the table for the ones she cares about and never asks for anything in return except 100% honesty and the respect that she’s worked her ass off to deserve.

History:
Tory grew up in a modest household, a daughter to a factory worker and a mother who died giving birth to her younger brother only two years after she was born. Tory learned early that women had to fight for what they cared about -- a lesson her four brothers enforced every single day. She often came home with scuffed up knees and bruised cheeks from fights she’d get on the playground when the boys told her that a girl’s place was in the kitchen by their mother’s side.

When Tory grew up she never bothered with the college-route, she took a job at the diner she’d be going to her entire life, since her father was shit at cooking -- a diner that she took over when the long-time owner passed. The Blue Plate was Tory’s second home, the staff as much her family the rascals she grew up with.

While she never had a thriving love-life never learning to trust too many men with a thing so vulnerable as her heart, Tory invested herself relentlessly into her business. She was known for never turning down a hungry mouth, even opening tabs that she knew would never be paid off when the going got tough for some of her customers; however, Tory always had a eye for children -- a natural maternal instinct, people would joke around about. She took in strays like it was her second business, often time a night’s lodge on her couch turning into an extended stay and a job at her diner.

While, she rarely turns anyone down when they are in need of help; Tory has a solid policy of accountability and never seeks to enable anyone in destroying their life. She’s been known to cut people out of her life whose only purpose is bringing all those around them down; however, she fights her hardest to never allow things to get to that point.

Thoughts:
“That kid’s got a good heart… I kept waiting for him to be a pain-in-my-ass, like the rest of 'em, but Dee’s not like that. I enjoy having him around. I just wish that little shit of a roommate didn’t have to screw him out of all his hard work.” -- on Duncan Borland

“I don’t buy into all the kissing babies and princess waves, Zocchi is a cold bastard just like all those prudes with suits. If voting him into office means that I get to see less of those cameramen taking pics of the “down-to-earth guy” at my diner, than reserve me the first spot at the voting booth.” -- on Marcello Zocchi

John and Duncan are accepted

Sorry, for the delay. Just got a job last week and was traveling all weekend for the 4th. What're you guys thinking, in terms of the amount of characters? Should we hold out for more people, because right now the Zocchi's are really the only developed family.
Nadia, Alexander, and Rose are Accepted

I'll get Tory Borland's CS posted tomorrow, if not tonight. Also, making one of the Mathers adoptees. If anyone wants to take on more than one character, feel free!

Erik slipped through the doorway for the Royal Lunch making little effort to keep his tardiness hidden -- he'd made such a regular habit out being the last one to arrive, that he'd long since passed the threshold where he felt that excuses were required.

"Your highness." Erik gave a curt bow to the Queen who he had yet to see that day. "Uncle." Erik's gesture towards the king had lost some of the zeal that it had possessed for the queen. He settled into a seat opposite Nadia and Aleksandr, his hands find their place in his lap. "I have half the mind to prove your father right..." Erik muttered to his cousins from across the table, his voice low as to not be overheard. "I almost find being a drunken half wit to be endearing when it comes from him." He gave a warm grin, as he peered down at his uncle for half a second, before looking back to his cousins.
Do you guys know anybody else, who'd be interested?
Cristian stumbled through the doorway of the classroom, shrugging off a shove from one of his friends that followed behind him. His hearty laugh echoed through the room, but Cristian didn't pay it too much mind, only casting a quick wave to the teacher in an attempt to get back into their good graces. He wasn't much too concerned with first impressions, but he'd learned that life was always easier if you walked that thin line with teachers never inching over onto their bad side.

He made his way though the room pausing only as he reached Alex's desk. He raised his eyebrow, gripping the rim of his imaginary straw hat and tipped the his head in the slightest. "Why golly, Jane. I didn't speck t'see you twice in one day. Ah, I muss be one lucky son of a gun." He flashed her a warm wink, before his eyes flickered to the guy sitting behind her. Cristian gave him a quick glance over; however, it might've lasted a couple seconds too long, because another shove from his friend sent him on his way. He settled into a seat near the back -- his domain in every classroom he'd been in since Freshman year.

Marcello Enzo Zocchi

Congressman | Fourty-Eight | Male

Personality:
Marc is a perfectionist -- never one to give too much room for surprises. As a boy, he constructed his first life plan and has lived every second of existence thus after according to it and it's later renditions. He's mastered the political art of manipulating his emotions and words to the occasion; however, this seems to be more a part of his being and less a career tactic. While, his charismatic persona and award-winning smile always lend towards a good first impression; many of those closest to him know that his judgmental nature and critical voice are the defining traits of the man.

History:
Politics runs in the Zocchi bloodline, Marc being the second to be called Congressman Zocchi. He grew up with the media's attention on his every action and Marc often disappointed the tabloids as they could rarely rustle up even a relationship scandal on the young teen. His father saw Marc's potential and capitalized on it, sending his son to the best private schools in the area, even sending him away to boarding school when the local education system proved not enough for the Zocchi political heir. When the time came, Marc was ushered off to Yale where he made a name for himself, both as an undergraduate and later as a law student; but, moreso it was in those graduate years that he gained his largest contributor in his future campaigns -- his equally determined wife.

Together they took their respected professions by storm, Marc gaining the political clout as an attorney that took others decades to build, ultimately claiming his first political position on the city council's seat just before they had their first child. The Zocchis became the model political family, their offspring proving just as talented and inspiring as their parents. However, as Marc continued to climb the political ladder, his political clout began to plateau, until Marc took a page from his sister's life plan.

In his most current campaign, Marc is attempting to graduate from state politics and move into the national arena as a United States Senator. While the Zocchi name has always been a journalism gold, it's become a regular sight as the Congressman and his family welcomed foster children into their home several years ago -- the additions drawing just enough positive attention to aspiring politician to make for a promising prediction in the upcoming elections.

Other:
Brother to the Mathers Mom, Uncle to the Mathers children. Senior Partner at a prominent law firm; however, he only maintains the role for large cases.
