I'm planning a modern horror roleplay with H.P. Lovecraft undertones. I have three versions of it; I like them all, but I want to get a feel for which one that would generate most interest.

Version 1
This is the only version that has a complete blurb. This version is more of a open-world game-type roleplay with focus on small missions rather than a linear narrative.

1995, you wake up in a cold and dark place of which you have no memory. Your clothes are wet, you are tired, and you are hungry. Black skyscrapers tower above the clouds, city blocks appear to exist ad infinitum, and people pass you by without a glance. The only thing that you remember is your name. What do you do when you have no idea of where you are, who you are, or why you are there? When you have no food, no money, and no protection? What do you do when you have the feeling that eyes are creeping over your shoulders and bizarre things are lurking in the dark, watching you?

You are an ordinary person who suffers from amnesia. Something horrible happened to you in the past twenty-four hours, but you cannot remember what it was. There are others like you and you are all drawn to each other by intuition. You will discover that there are mystical forces beyond your comprehension at play, and that masked men are trying to capture you. No matter what you do, the city will not allow you to leave until whatever curse that is keeping you there is lifted. Not even death can save you from this torment.

Version 2
This one also has a blurb, though incomplete. Unlike version 1, this version is a linear narrative with less 'game' elements.

For the past four months you have been attending a group therapy session in New York City. The sessions have been conducted by an esteemed therapist who specializes in hypnosis and other unorthodox methods. You have made great progress along with the other members and your treatment is nearing its end. One night, however, things take a turn for the worse; you find the therapist gruesomely murdered. He has not been treating you, he has prepared you for something vile—a ritual. Strange and terrifying events begin to unfold, as occult things emerge from the shadows. Now, you only have yourself and your fellow session members to rely on.

Version 3
This is a mixture of version 1 and 2, inspired by the The Secret World MMORPG-game. It's an open world in which characters are aware of the horrors and actively seek them out and fight them. This version has no blurb yet, but I'm sure you can grasp the general idea: Arkham Horror-board game styled monster hunting.
Yes, edged and blunt weapons is what I imagined. Bow and arrow could function as the dominant projectile weapon, perhaps.

Have you thought about specifics regarding religion? Is there a unanimous doctrine or do each community function as a cult?
Perhaps my character could be a member of a similar order, though less religious in nature. Thinking of Leibowitz, what remains could be preserved and conveyed through three spheres: philosophy, physical, and life. All of which encompass basic sciences. My character would be a member of the philosophical sphere. So, these people would devote their lives to preserving, developing, and teaching their respective expertise. Perhaps, it's an idea based on CfL.
I'm in. This speaks to me on quite a few levels.

When I read the info, I had an idea for a wise woman-type character. An elderly person, well-educated in philosophy and such. So, what would the extent of education be like in this world of yours? Availability of books, recreational discussion, pen and paper, etc.
Common sense, then. Thanks for the info.
What is the consensus around here on adapting abandoned ideas/roleplays? Ask the original creator or just give ample credits, or both?
After much deliberation and philosophizing with myself, I've decided not to pursue this idea. However, the idea is free for anyone to adapt.

When would the RP start? When the kids discover the anomalies, or when they escape the town?

Day 14 according to the tiny timeline, which would be a few days before sneaking out.

Very interested in this, would love to see an example character sheet though?

All will present itself in the OOC, if there will be one. This roleplay is just an idea at this point.
