The therapist is male. Call him Dr. Blake. I'll look into creating an NPC reference for him! I'd imagine that Dr. Blake conducted both individual and mass hypnosis. The story begins just before the weekly session, but instead of a session, the characters find Dr. Blake murdered.

Can I use social anxiety disorder?

Yes, you can. But, remember to give a brief explanation of it, regardless!

I've added a note to the character sheet and the 'Condition' section: Wikipedia is a great tool for writing a brief description of your condition. It does not have to be overly complex or technical, but you can find the somewhat correct wording and terms there.

Your welcome!

Working on character's sheet.

Wonderful!

Do you want us to write our character's shares in third or first person?

Your choice, as long as it is your character speaking/narrating.

I'll be going for a Schizophrenic character then. I did a bit of research, and the hallucinations sound like they could be a lot of fun to play with.

I agree.

How many words in 2 paragraphs? Needs to see charrie sheet please. Nows. Thanks ya.

I cannot say; a paragraph can be a single sentence or a 1000 words, as long as it follows a single idea! The two paragraph rule is just the standard advanced section rule for the guild. Write as much or as little as you need.

The out of character thread can be found here: OOC. It has the character sheet!

1995, you have been attending a group therapy session in New York City for the past four months. The sessions have been conducted by a therapist who specializes in hypnosis and unorthodox methods. You have made great progress along with the other members. One night, however, you and your fellow session members find the therapist gruesomely murdered. Things take a turn for the worse when strange and disturbing events begin to unfold the same evening.

This is an eerie horror-thriller. If you enjoy film-noir, H.P. Lovecraft, Silent Hill, or cult-mystery, this will suit you perfectly. The roleplay itself is quite light-weight, which means that there is not much auxiliary information to write or know beforehand. Why your character is in therapy is for you to decide; his or her condition can be anything from alcoholism, depression, or nightmares to obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobia, or schizophrenia. Depending on what you choose, I will include customized scares and disturbing events specific to your character, so that everyone gets to be the center of attention at least once.

Character Creation
Your character has almost fully recovered due to the therapy. However, this will be challenged by the events of the story. One thing to keep in mind is that these characters are most likely introverts, in one way or another. The other members of this therapy group might be the only people that they know, the only people that they have in their lives. This does not mean that these characters are social failures or live at the bottom of society. If they are of age, they probably have a job, and perhaps even their own family. This is just something to keep in mind when you create your character.

Post your completed character sheets in this thread. I need to OK all characters.

OH yeah, Alan Wake, I remember the game. Though, I've never played it. The fight against light...something like that. I was thinking having my character only dress in white and as you mentioned carry a flashlight or two in her purse. Someone who never goes out at night, and lives in a home where everything is white and the lights are never off.

She's going to have one hell of a ride in this story, as most of it plays out during the night and in dark places! Should be an interesting challenge for you.

There is no God.

The characters in this story might feel the same way during and after the events they will experience!

I'm gonna post a flag here for perhaps a character with PTSD. I'm currently working on a project for it and I'd like to really test my ability to use it. If not, I've got a large array of ideas. Fufufu~

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder? Sounds interesting, as much of the story involves some kind of threat of physical and/or mental harm.

I was out robbing libraries, good sir.I might work on a character suffering from depression, though I'd like to play around with a schizophrenic character. Hmm, tough choice. I'll do bit of research and hopefully come to a conclusion soon. The former sounds easier to portray, but the latter might have more possibilities.Have any of you seen Donnie Darko? Or have any of you played The Cat Lady? This RP seems to give off similar vibes.*Insert excitement*

I've seen Donnie Darko, but it was a long time ago. If your character has schizophrenia, the events in the story are really going to take their toll on him or her. Depression is quite lightweight in comparison, though it depends on what kind of depression it would be. I will give my own character a lightweight condition in order to properly function as the 'leader' or some kind of stable beacon when the characters venture through the darkness of things. Schizophrenia would make for a more diverse cast, but in the end, it's your choice!
I think about what people see first. The thread-title is the first thing they notice, which is always the most difficult part of attracting interest. I use pictures, so that's the second thing that they will see. The picture has to correlate well with the thread-title; if the thread-title is "The Arkham Horror," a picture if a rainbow unicorn will throw people off. After that, they see whatever is written first, which should be a concise premise/plot summary. Much like what Brovo said, only I prefer when it is written out of character. Then, I usually add some information about things and bits, and a few casual rules (example).

If my roleplay is an original idea, I usually mask it with fandom. True story, I conducted an experiment on a roleplaying site once, where I posted the same idea, but with two different names. The first name was my own, and the second name was 'Final Fantasy.' The post with my own name for the roleplay generated 1 person, whereas the post with 'Final Fantasy' generated over 20. Yes.... this was exactly the same post. So, it's a cool trick.

Interested. I've never done an Advanced roleplay before...

This will be the perfect transitional roleplay for you; it's quite light-weight, not much to keep track of, and it will be relatively short. An advanced roleplay is the same thing as a casual roleplay, with the only real difference being that you put more time and effort into your contributions.

This is interesting. I would be interested in playing someone with achluophobia - fear of darkness.

Have you ever heard of or played the game Alan Wake? The protagonist does not suffer form achluophobia, but the it is a central theme in the game. I imagine a fictional character, such as yours, would casually carry flashlights, flares, and glow sticks around with them, similarly to Alan Wake.
