The first mortar shots made Rishun jump slightly. Combat was something she always tried to avoid, but now thrown in the deep end, it was sink or swim...
And I am an otter!"So it would seem, Max. Time to jump in and see how the water is!" She held her rifle up and double checked her magazine, confirming she also had a round chambered and ready. The ground shook again with another mortar landing, and her resolve hardened a little more. A soldier's mental state sometimes had to block out things that would otherwise hamper their ability to act decisively, and while Rishun wasn't much of a soldier, her read outs were flashing with red contact markers across the board.
A heavy clink brought Rishun's focus in sharp to see Max swap to a special ammunition, and that was enough to make her nod, the final lock falling not place that held her emotions away until later "Ready on your signal, going to send out a burst of static across all their comms. Any enemy with an earpiece will have an instant headache."
Three, two, one....mark."
The burst went out in tandem with his shot, blowing out several outdated audio systems the enemy had salvaged together as well as deafening a good chunk of the field officers who weren't using adjutants.
Rishun nearly forgot to start running after the shot rang out beside her, and sh3 took off once Max nudged her with a few shoulder pats. Down the slope on her wheels before needing to take to properly leg work for better maneuverability as she made it to the bottom. But that is where the trouble started...
From his vantage point watching her progress, Max would see her freeze up, her mech stopping completely as the small patrol they had scouted camd into her view. Her rifle was up, and it looked like she was trying to convince herself to pull the trigger. That choice was forced once the small patrol opened fire. After that moment, he couldn't raise her on comms. The techie's GEAR stormed through the forested stretch between her and the communications base, opening fire at any heat signature that popped up...a few were only local wildlife...
Sliding into the clearing the IFV was parked in, Max could see the Aqua Goddess finishing a reload before she opened up again, spraying 20mm rounds across the repair team that was trying to salvage what they could from the disaster. No one was spared.
The otter only then regained her senses, noticing how quickly she had moved, now standing only several yards from the burning husk of the IFV. She glanced around and noted nearly a dozen bodies torn to shreds by something, and she looked at her ammo readout on her monitor...she had shot them?
Rishun blinked slowly, her mind racing to figure out how she got there as she flicked her finger onto Max's video feed at the same time calling on the comms "Raoka'dieachuwaz'ounka... Ney'sien'Max."
The Aqua Goddess stomped over to a nearby building, one of the few squatting there as a communications hub, and swapped her magazine it of habit as she took cover.
Nine left in reserve she mentally counted without pulling up her actual count, too busy with double checking her comm frequencies to the rest of the squad. They all were flashing between green and yellow, but she assumed that was just because she was so close to the enemy own jamming systems.
