I was just thinking: building the ram seems like an uncertain proposition. The idea initially was to build the ram to pull troops to one gate, but the Grey Winds want the least amount of people within fortifications as possible, regardless of position. A few more people for Myra to fend off as she holds the gates open is a much better proposition than having a thousand spears in their fortifications, even if they're initially in the wrong position, entirely protected from cavalry and able to mount counterattacks. I think the ram should be scrapped, honestly.

What would be better is for the penal battalions to scale the walls all over the place and get off them asap, getting into the city and drawing soldiers out of their fortifications. Myra stays on the walls and holds the gatehouse with her elites, and then once she has opened the gate the lancers pour in and have a much easier fight in the wide streets.

So: plan.

penal troops scale the wall, get into the city and start fucking things up: no civilian casualties, but property destruction will likely be permitted. Guard is drawn out of fortifications to deal with it.
SImultaneously,Myra and her lot climb the walls near the gatehouse, seize and hold the gate open.
Claes and her force wait, once she sees the gates are open the horses dash in, start fucking things up, seize key locations and hopefully quickly force surrender.

Sound good? Sorry for going back on the ram idea, it just seems superfluous and sub-optimal. Any hint of siege would stop forces leaving fortified positions and make escalade much harder all over the wall, despite enemies nucleating forces at the wrong place.
Aww man Rune I was looking forward to being the only person with the novel idea of using modern military knowledge to kick ass and chew bubble gum. Though, JSDF are a hell of a drug, and it means you get to have Howa 89s that ball out of control.

Also, Ash, I can tell we're going to be friends. You seem like a cool guy.
It seems like everyone is making characters with some sort of super-speed/strength/agility, is that a path I should be following?
No, I just wanted a definition. You say that I need to remember that youkai are demons. If demon is another word for youkai, then you just said "Remember youkai are youkai", which does not really help me. I guess if a demon is a youkai, the next question would be "What is a youkai?", and what connotations does this designation bring with it?
What is a demon?
I wasn't suggesting nations, more like stratified organizations run like organized crime families. Regardless, I did not know all youkai were not sentient. Is there major discrimination between the sentient and non-sentient, or do the sentient even regard their animalistic cousins as moral agents?
Currency emerges whether people want it to or not: the natural forces of the market make people adopt it due to the benefits it brings to markets. A market without a currency lacks one of the most important aspects of free trade: the ability to gather information on the value of goods through unambiguous prices. Currency emerges in any market naturally. Once again, prisons are the absolute best example. There would, however, likely be many different, regional currencies. One are that uses dragon scales might border another that uses bottle caps, for example, and the forces of conglomeration would be slow in a deregulated world.
It seems you know about the birthing and childhood processes and are just not telling me. Please, I really want to know. I don't care about how those character are special, but I would like to know what the norm is.

Are there really no attempts at government within the youkai world? It seems strange, seeing as youkai have these massive power differentials, that there would not be a cabal of powerful youkai who enforce control over certain areas.

So youkai are cannibals? Regardless, where is the wheat grown and the milk/butter/cream/fat procured to make cakes and chips, if the Crimson is entirely without society.

In addition, there not being money is a highly unrealistic notion. Sentient creatures will realize that they want to trade, and monetary systems develop naturally. For example, look at prisons, in which cigarettes and mackrel are used as currencies, not by some mandate, but by natural market forces. Governments are not necessarily in control of money, regardless, money developed naturally and was later was conquered by government for their manipulation.
@Rune_Alchemist

I was going to just have a picture of Hayek, or just a Gadsden flag, but that felt a little strident. For some reason mixing weeb shit into your political statements make them easier to represent.

@AgentFallenSoul

Who gave birth to these human-looking youkai? Are they even 'born' in the traditional sense?

"Youkai Fun Food"? What is that? What are the special ingredients, and where are they grown? How would a non-farming youkai get a hold of them? Where would a youkai get human food?

Economies usually feature status and money, I am going to need something a tad more specific.

Are there really no youkai higher in the hierarchy than Maslow? I would figure youkai, with all their power, would come up with a system which allowed for better aspirational possibility.

Have all youkai met humans? What are the rumors? Are there youkai scientists, or any sort of Youkai research community larger than the individual? Do youkai go over to the human world? Do youkai value territory specifically? What are some of the main reasons human-hating youkai hate humans?

I don't expect you to be able to answer all of these, of course. They're just additions to my previous barrage of questions.
I was just sitting down to work on a youkai cs, then I realized I know absolutely nothing about them.
