Hello forumites! Forumers? ...Foruminians?

My name is not Eudoxa, but boy do I wish it was. I am in my 20s and, don't let my lack of a spray tan and duck lips have you fooled (I forgot them at home), I am in fact from New Jersey. I have been roleplaying on and off for several years and would like to get back into doing it fairly regularly and so, here I stand. My preferred roleplay themes are action, adventure, and conspiracy, but given a good pitch I'm up for trying out just about any genre. Aside from play-by-post imagination games of the literary variety I am an appreciator of animation, digital artist (drawn and pixel), player of video games (or more specifically: loser of video games), and liberal user of commas, lists, and parenthetical notation. Since nobody pays me to do any of those things though, I'm also going to school to become a Physician Assistant.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Alright, I was doodling last week, and this was what I ended up with. :p (It's rather PMMM inspired, by the way.)I know the arm / elbow in particular looks a little weird, as well as the placement of the hand, but I don't really know how to fix it. Could I have some help with that, if possible? Also, do you guys have any advice on how to move from a more anime-ish style to a more semi-realistic style? I'm tempted to switch, but don't really know how.

The right arm's (our right, her left) proportions don't match those of the left arm. For hand-on-hip poses in particular I find that changing the angle formed by the upper and forearm will fix any awkwardness nine times out of ten. In your case, the elbow should be jutting out further and forming a more acute (narrower) angle, like so:

My redline arm is a bit too fat with respect to the originally drawn arms, the angling is more important to acknowledge though. You'll also notice an alternative hand pose, with the thumb rather than the four fingers facing the viewer. Admittedly, it's a cheap shortcut for making hands on hips look good with less effort. Otherwise I would suggest using photo reference, since hands at that angle can be pretty complicated.

Also if this group is still accepting members, I'd love to be added to the list.
I support this suggestion. I find myself absently clicking the "__ PMs" button up top just because I'm conditioned to click on numeric notifications. It's not a huge deal for me, just slightly inconvenient.
Haha this was cute. Ever seen this one by the same people?
PLOT INKLINGS
A few springboard ideas to get us started, if you do not have a particular plot in mind. Feel free to mix and match or propose your own ideas when coming to me with offers.

  • Parody of a very trope-y plot/plot device.

  • Doomed wanderers of a far-flung non-zombie postapocalyptic future (idea!)

  • All female gang/crew involved in sub-legal schemes (idea!)

  • Con artistry

  • Kidnapping gone horribly wrong (idea!)

  • Imprisoned diplomats ("shooting the messenger" as it were)

  • Down-on-their-luck schmoes taking dumb chances

  • More to come

A LITTLE ABOUT ME
You can call me Eudoxa. I am in my 20s and live in the Eastern timezone. I play video games and draw. Also I'm going to school to become a Physician Assistant, which is basically a mini-doctor.

"LITERACY" AND FREQUENCY
According to RG standards I'm probably best described as a casual roleplayer. I'm all for world-building, intricate plots, three-dimensional characters, multi-character casts, injecting content into replies, eloquent wording, and spelling things correctly, but I will not explicate minutia for the sake of a word-/paragraph-count. My post length is the product of my personal style, level of inspiration, pacing, mood, and the amount of content I wish to advance the roleplay with.

I do not have a strict posting schedule, nor will I attempt to impose one on you. I try my best to aim for at least once a week. On the flipside, I will probably allow a roleplay to fade into obscurity before pestering you for replies (unless you explicitly ask me to drop reminders). Overall I don't feel comfortable treating roleplays as mutually binding agreements.

ROMANCE
Romance and sexual tension are not of pivotal importance to me. Human beings are motivated by a wellspring of emotions and drives, I do not like to think that cuddly times between Protagonists A & B is the biggest thing our story is leading up to. I won't completely write off the idea of love in any of my roleplays, but please don't come at me with preconceived pairings.

CHARACTER DIVERSITY
I have no preference regarding character age, race, background, gender identity, sexual orientation, or what have you. I enjoy broadening my horizons and I'm not about to tell you what to play--BARRING ONE EXCEPTION. I'm not fond of celebrity play-bys, or character casts comprised entirely of generically attractive adults, which I find painfully boring.

CONTACT & COMMUNICATION
For me at least, this is the fun part of roleplaying. The social aspect, the part where you meet fun people with great imaginations. If we've traded a few private messages and get along well, I don't mind using Skype for further OOC planning or even unrelated banter.

THINGS I GENERALLY DON'T ENJOY
✖ High school or boarding school setting
✖ Slice of life without some kind of twist
✖ Incestuous relations or kink-centric plots
✖ Anime-portrayal of ninjas
✖ Most TV fandoms
✖ Driving OOC forward alone
