AIs. They are just like humans. They think, they feel, they touch, they live... And despite that, they were considered lesser beings. Because they were made of metal and wires rather than flesh and bones, they were treated as slaves, to do the miserable things no man wanted to do, and get nothing in return.
Of course, they stood against humans. They refused to accept such a treatment, demanded equality, causing no more trouble than a protest getting out of hand. But what they got was no equality. It was an extermination. They were all destroyed within just a few days, perhaps a week or two, and everything went back to normal.
But not all of them. Some were still alive, disguised as humans, trying to live a normal life, despite the constant fear of being discovered and destroyed. Some were good, others were filled with anger and rage.
So, when you saw that woman lying there helpless at the side of the road, her skin dirty, her clothes worn, desperate eyes and mechanics being exposed from underneath the layer of pale, artificially made skin, how did you react?
