Mercy

Mercy jumped as the gun went off, flinching back against the display cabinet to her right as she did her eyes focusing on the corpse still moving towards her until the second shot pierced its skull, she backpedaled rapidly as the creature flopped forward towards her, the knuckles on the hand clutching her bow had turned white she had an arrow clasped between her other fingers. That had been too close, her blue eyes lifted from the corpse as she turned desperately seeking out Olivia when the dark haired woman from before appeared at her side, strong fingers curling into her arm and dragging her along after her as she made a beeline for the door.

Mercy didn’t resist her at all, eyes searching for Olivia as she compliantly followed the other woman pretty sure she owed her, her life. She was beyond relieved as they came across Olivia just by the door, before Mercy could reach for her the dark haired woman had grabbed her as well pulling them from the store and into the street. Once they were out of the door, Mercy gently pulled herself from the older woman’s grip darting back towards the front of the store; pulling her bow up onto her shoulder she reached for the door slamming it closed after the blue eyed man slid through the gap by the skin of his teeth, stumbling into the road. She jolted away from the door violently as one of the creatures slammed up against it. She stepped back her breathing heavy her face pale beneath the layer of dirt that clung to it. “Shit, shit, shit” She breathed lifting a trembling hand to her head lacing her fingers through her dirty blonde hair, she looked up at the dark haired woman and the two men, soft blue eyes gripped with concern as she studied them. “Thank you” She breathed, standing straight despite her quaking hands she seemed fairly calm if not prepared for the worst, her eyes slid to rest on Olivia stood next to her. “Are you ok?” She asked the redhead as her first concern. “Did anyone get hurt?” She aimed this question at the other survivors, sweeping her gaze across the 3 of them briefly.

Her hand reflexively reached for her bow as she noticed another stranger approaching them she was holding a gun and dressed in a rather peculiar blue dress, Mercy licked at her lower lip nervously a habit she knew she should abandon in this day and age as it could potentially be dangerous. Her eyebrows rose as the girl in the blue dress asked her question, she felt her eyes turn towards the store watching a dozen of the creatures pad at the glass dead eyes watching them hungrily, she shivered involuntarily. “Yes...” She answered her slowly; she had grabbed another arrow from her quiver by now and held it loosely within her bow, she jutted the tip towards the store as if to say she only had to look at the windows to answer that question.

“L-“ She had noticed the undead creature sneak up behind the girl and dog but before she could warn them, yet another survivor literally dropped in on them landing behind the blue dressed girl and taking a shovel to the imposing creatures face no sooner had she well and truly smashed its face in Mercy shuffled closer to the dark haired woman and her companion. “We need to go” She announced boldly, she didn’t know any of these people and they didn’t know her but she knew none of them were safe here. “If we stick together for a while we’ve got a better chance of getting through this” She added her voice was loud enough for all to hear but she was almost directing this at her savior (Chris)

She felt a small twinge of anxiety snake through her chest as she waited for the others response aware the glass store front would not hold the creatures at bay for long, she was worried for Tamashii...but she was holding onto the belief that her friend was ok and would find her...somehow. She looked past the two woman just ahead of her, releasing a shuddering breath as she saw what was moving down the street towards them.

Tamashii

Tamashii’s jaw tightened as she listened to the woman answer Remy’s questions, her shoulders tensed up at the exchange. She heard the woman perfectly well, in a normal situation she wouldn’t have been this aggressive when meeting strangers...but this world was different. It had changed people...Ash was a prime example, it fed her negative side caused her to embrace everything she had tried to hide away. She flinched as Remy’s voice pulled her from her thoughts, she had barely taken her eyes off of the woman across from them, listening to what he said her eyes grazed the windows of the houses to the left of them. “I know” She murmured to the man at her side. “We need to get back Remy” She whispered though there was a steely undertone to her voice, her eyebrow lifting as the woman said she wasn’t going to move in case they shot her or worse. What’s worse than being shot? “Don’t do anything stupid and I won’t shoot you, its that simple” She warned the woman about to continue when Remy beat her to it, calling out to see whether anyone was behind them and asking that they show themselves. Tamashii was inclined to agree with him they needed to get back to the house, back to Mercy and the girl. “Listen we’re not going to hurt you...we’re leaving and-“ Tamashii started to say taking a step backwards when she heard Remy exclaim she resisted the urge to look at him still pointing her hand gun at the woman.

She flinched as Remy touched her forearm pointing behind them, Tamashii saw the fear flicker across the woman’s face it was enough to make her relax her arm and turn to see what was going on. As her eyes fell on the horde of shambling corpses behind them, the air left her lungs in a gasp, she felt her head spin as panic embedded itself in her mind. “No, no, no, no” She whined. “Mercy...” Tamashii breathed despite the odds, she spun her hand gun on the creatures that begun to shuffle towards them. Refusing to believe her companion had fallen, the only sure thing in Tamashii’s broken mind was she had to get back to that house. She took aim as she moved forward, capping two of the creatures in the head both gun shots echoing around them, the fact of the matter was if Remy hadn’t practically man handled her she wasn’t sure what she would have done. “No! Remy, we have to get to her!” Tamashii hissed as she was pulled backwards wriggling despite herself. She flinched against him as another gunshot sounded nearby, falling quiet as she was dragged into a house barely registering the gentleman crouched just inside the door as it was pushed closed behind them.

“Get off of me!” She growled at Remy, pulling free of his grip she instantly shot across the room, carefully pulling a curtain back to glance across the street, her stomach twisting as she realized how many creatures had fallen in behind them since they had split up. Stupid move! Why did you do it?...She’ll be ok she would have moved Tamashii was breathing heavily by now, panic well and truly set into her mind as she danced back into the hallway, keeping her footsteps light she tucked her handgun into its holster, pulling out her knife she ran a hand into her hair hearing the tell tale thuds of the undead banging on the door they were trapped in here. “Roof access? We can move along get ahead of the horde...” She whispered to Remy, casting her eye on the man with the gun tucked off to the side in normal circumstances she would have been more wary of him pointed a weapon at him maybe, but this wasn’t the time. She stepped back into the hallway, holding her combat knife at the ready as she moved towards the stairs, carefully ascending them before either of the men could protest.

Blame my sleep crazed brain. Yeah friendship would be, I just meant really someone from her peer group. Actually I'm not sure what I meant. I'm sleep deprived.

xD Its OK I know that feeling! Crazy things happen when you don't sleep O.o I think I understand now ^^'

[Since one of my characters is 13 and the chance of developing any friendship/romantic relationship with her is slim to none, this character begged to be allowed in. She was originally created for a 1x1 rp, but I was also curious how she would be in a group setting ]

I would have thought friendship would have been possible O.o

Liking all the new characters joining the fray ^^ Welcome to the group by the way Sturmgewehr :)

I was planning/considering/hoping that Tony and Chris would be separated at some point. Not only is it realistically likely to happen, but it would also do wonders for their character development.

I feel I should say snap to this but obviously with my own characters xD Hoping the groups stay apart for a while >.>
Mini writing exercise: "Your character stands in front of a locked door and needs to get inside. What would they do?"

Crash: Tests the handle, rattling it with forceful intent. "Damn..." Considers his options whilst walking backwards.

Search for a key...too time consuming

Search for another entrance...Probably the best option.

Break the door in...not really a logical reason behind it

With those options in mind he propels himself forward, slamming his shoulder against the door, the wood around the lock splinters upon contact and the door flies open allowing Crash to trip over his own feet and roly poly into the room splatting against a hard vertical surface upside down with his feet above his head. ...Worth it?

Little Feather & Lion: Testing the door, frowning when it doesn't open she stares at it in quiet contemplation...before knocking on it quietly. No answer... "Guess we should go find the key...I don't know where to start looking though" She murmurs to the large white lion beside her. Lion's ears flicker as he looks from the door to her and back again. "Now Cub, in times like these it always pays to use your head" Lion tells her in a melodic voice as he approaches the door with a determined look on his face and an intelligent twinkle to his eye. Little Feather moves aside to allow him through watching him with a curious expression.

Lion studies the door for a small while, taking in everything he can until he pulls back for a brief moment smiling up at Little Feather he grins at her before lurching forward and slamming the crown of his head against the door with an impressive amount of force, drawing back he begins to sway from side to side his eyes a swirl of confusion, in fact Little Feather is sure there are little birds circling his head as he falls back onto his haunches, her response is to burst out into hysterics as he holds up his paw. "Maybe not..." Lion groans falling onto his back with his legs in the air. By now the door is forgotten as Little Feather is in need of oxygen and can't seem to control her legs any longer as she collapses to the floor succumbing to her laughter.

Mercy: After testing the door she glances around for a moment before tapping something into her phone and waiting patiently. "You called? kupo-po!" Asks Koops small voice as he flies up next to her. A smile crosses Mercy's face as she looks at the small ball of creamy fluff, with his red bobble bouncing around atop his head. "Yes! I need the key for this door" She grins at the creature, watching as he salutes her and starts to rummage through the yellow messenger bag on his shoulder, pulling out a slender grey key, he hands it to Mercy. Who promptly pokes it in the door, unlocking it with a quick flick of her wrist. "Job well done" She smiles to him, petting him on the head as she pushes the door open.
Hi! :D Welcome to the apocalypse ^^
I often wonder whether there are any magical ‘myths’ in this world. Do faeries truly exist but only children can see them? Or what if mermaids really did live at the bottom of the sea, in underwater kingdoms? Do deities exist? Is it that little old lady across the street really a witch?

I think I like the idea of this world hiding some form of magic behind its grey walls, out of reach of the poisonous fingers of us humans. A utopia untouched by the grey reality of humans, untouched by the corrupted, full of colour and peace...a safe haven for the broken.
...
Then I remember it exists...but only in my mind

Teddy twitched in his sleep, his eyelids flickering as long lashes withdrew from his cheeks, emerald green eyes peering up at a strange ceiling...That isn’t my ceiling...Why is everything so blurry? His vision had a foggy edge to it, as he concentrated on the ceiling trying to calm the confusion in his mind, his head was thumping. He blinked slowly trying to focus as he lifted himself up onto his elbows, his eyes trying to adjust to the low light as blurry shapes met his gaze he felt himself squint trying to see clearer. It was about this time it clicked that he wasn’t wearing his glasses..."Argh...what happened?" He groaned, pressing his palm against his temple his fingers lacing through his chocolate brown fringe as he sat up currently unaware of where he was or what was going on. What am I doing here? He queried, trying to make sense of the confusion in his own mind.

He was in that abandoned house, the one that he walked past when he went to the general store. The one he’d been devising a spooky back story for, its broken down appearance had held his curiosity for quite some time though he was rather surprised he’d actually breached its walls and surrendered to his curiosity. He lifted his other hand to his head grimacing at the idea of trying to find his glasses...why had he been unconscious? It was then he noticed a figure not far from him, memories pushing their way to the front of his mind. There had been a girl...holding a camera? He couldn’t remember! She had been attacked by a man and he of all people had valiantly saved her...he peered around trying to find the mysterious girl for confirmation of these peculiar memories, he wouldn’t have been surprised if he’d imagined the whole ordeal
Mercy

Mercy’s breath left her in a shaky exhale as the woman didn’t strike her, her voice had saved her but doomed them. She didn’t have time to feel guilty though as the shop seemed to come alive with grunts and groans as the undead roused around them. Her soft blue gaze was fixated on the woman taking in her appearance quickly as she muttered something, lowering her baton for a mere moment and pointing it at the front door.

“Front door. Go!”

The other woman’s voice was abrupt but her tone instantly made Mercy pull herself together, she nodded quickly as she turned to Olivia, her eyes automatically catching shadows moving in several places. She gripped her weapon harder watching as Olivia struck out at one of the creatures her shot missed but before Mercy could intervene the girl had dispatched the shambling corpse. She opened her mouth to say something as Olivia turned to her watching the girls eyes slide from her face and focus on something over her shoulder, the look in her eyes warning enough as Mercy spun round hammer at the ready.

She hadn’t been prepared for how close the creature was to her, the hammer smacked against the side of the creatures head as Mercy twisted away from its flailing arms, tripping it so it nose dived into the corner of the shelves between her and Olivia. As it fell to the floor she leapt forward angling the hammer slightly to her right she brought it down into the creature’s soft skull with a sickening squelch, gore spattering across her hand but away from her face. She went to pull the hammer back gasping as the handle splintered and broke away from its metal counterpart. Without time to think about it she dropped the useless piece of wood watching the young redhead finish mashing in another of the creatures faces, she frowned at the young girl as she breathed her name pointing to something to Mercy’s right, her gaze shifted to where Olivia pointed her stomach twisted painfully as she noticed the trapped man, looking at Olivia with pleading eyes, Mercy flinched as she heard a dog bark.

There was no time for this she reached for Olivia who seemed to have frozen, attempting to grip the girls arm as she didn’t seem to be moving. “Hurry” She murmured to Olivia indicating for her to move after the dark haired woman who had already begun to run to the front of the store. “Quickly” She encouraged the red head, moving along behind her. “I see him, just get out!” Mercy hissed if the young girl protested, there was a harsh undertone in her voice that had not been there before. As they moved she reached up pulling her bow over her head, trying to stay aware of her surroundings as she counted the distance between herself and the young man. Nimble fingers found an arrow from her quiver, only once they’d almost reached the ajar door did she turn pulling the string taut she inhaled before loosing an arrow at the undead around the cabinet, the short distance worked miracles, the arrow split through one of the creatures necks, severing the spinal cord on its way through only to impale in the side of another’s head.

Mercy reached for another arrow taking a step back a glass cabinet protecting her right side but unfortunately her left side was open to assault from the undead, her hands were trembling as she aimed another arrow at another of the creatures aiming for the one blocking the man’s escape from the cabinet if she could hit it...he could slide out and run for them. She was so focused on the creature by the display cabinet she didn’t see the other ambling up to her left side, she inhaled before releasing her arrow poking her elbow out just a fraction enough to avoid the string connecting with her bare arm. The arrow ran true embedding itself in the back of the head of the creature scratching at the door, now it was up to the man she couldn’t spare many more arrows, she had barely pulled another from her quiver when a groan to her left announced another creatures presence, Mercy’s eyes flicked to rest on it as it lurched towards her she would be hard pushed to avoid it without assistance.
Mercy

Mercy hesitated at the door as she waited for the redhead to respond, she was rather relieved when the young girl said she would come with her. Mercy wasn't very good at seeing danger, she often allowed herself to be lulled into a false sense of security even in these troubled times. "That would be great, two sets of eyes are always better than one" She smiled at the redhead, warmth clinging to her soft blue eyes she knew Ash would scorn her for it but she trusted the small girl...she saw no other choice in this situation anyway. She felt a pang of guilt at the girls words, her brow creased as she studied the redhead for a moment, she was a child though. Being a kid isn't really an option anymore She watched the redhead scan the room, probably searching for a weapon. "I'm sorry; I didn't mean to undermine you. From now on we can be in this together, I've got your back and you've got mine?" Mercy offered voicing her trust in the girl and offering to treat her as an equal, with equal responsibility. The woman’s words were true though she knew it would be a while before she would be able to completely suppress her protective nature. She waited patiently for the girl to prepare herself, pressing her ear against the door listening intently.

She glanced at the redhead as she spoke, noting the broomstick weapon she nodded in approval her mouth curving into a small smile as the young girl finally gave her a name. "It’s ok, given the circumstances I can forgive you" She jested, subconsciously expressing her nerves through humour for in reality she really didn’t want to open this door...she could deal with what was in this room she feared she couldn't deal with what lie ahead. Still with trembling hands she pushed the door open, her face crinkling in disgust at the rancid smell that met them as they slid through the opening. She was unable to crouch to close to the floor as they moved through the shop because of the bow slung across her back but she was careful enough to keep her head down. She hesitated as she heard Olivia whisper behind her, her eyes skimmed over the lurker laid across from them she felt her breath hitch in her throat as she looked at the creature it no longer looked human to her, she couldn't think of it as a human.

"Yes" She breathed almost inaudibly, her throat was painfully dry and her heart was beating so fast she was sure her companion could hear it. She had barely shuffled forward when the redhead’s voice cut into the silence a second time, warning her to wait she cast her gaze behind them before slowly lifting herself up just enough that she could peer over the top of the aisle they were hiding behind, her eyes focusing on the door at the store front, first she noticed a figure stood by the doorway secondly she realized it was ajar, her eyes quickly scanned the rest of the shop, apart from the lurker across from them she couldn’t see any movement, she ducked back down.

"There’s someone outside...” Mercy whispered to Olivia her voice little more than a soft hum. “I’m just going to check it out...it may be a human” Mercy stated to the redhead, her face a mixture of hope and dread as she contemplated her course of action, it turned out to be a simple one not giving herself a chance to stew on her decision she lurched out from behind the shelves straight into the path of another woman. Her breath hitched in her throat and she instantly raised her hands to defend herself thinking it to be the figure from the door, she held the hammer tightly ready to swing it should it not be a person but high enough she could block an incoming blow. Surprising people like this nowadays was a sure way to get a pipe to the head. "Wait!" She exclaimed barely keeping her voice down surprise apparent in her actions, as she flinched away from the woman.

Tamashii

Tamashii raised an eyebrow at him as he thanked her; she hadn’t even offered him the same courtesy. She looked down at the shooter as the brown haired guy spoke to her, studying his appearance for a moment before scanning their surroundings. “It was a good call...waiting” She mumbled to him in answer to his statements, a frown etched its way onto her face she was growing restless as he knelt down to check the man over, knowing she needed to be aware of everything was one thing but not having Mercy within her sights was slowly eating at away at her, the last time this had happened...Tamashii was pulled from her thoughts by her companion's observations. “Either that or he decided he didn’t want to live in this hell” She shrugged at him, folding her arms across her chest pressing her blade against her wrist as she glanced around them feeling uneasy at being so casually out in the open. “I can’t believe it; he literally must have just got out of the bath” She voiced what they were both thinking, a slightly envious hint to her words what she wouldn’t give to feel safe enough to take a bath...

She shook her head stepping back from the man and scanning the area around them for any signs of danger careful to keep her back turned towards the house, her hazel eyes were tense as she listened to his questions instantly she wanted to get back to Mercy, but it would be foolish to pass up the opportunity to check through this guys house as she opened her mouth to answer he near enough took the words right off of her tongue. She pursed her lips as he asked her to stand watch, studying him for a moment before she nodded her head curtly, moving towards the door of the house, making sure her back was to the building as her companion walked through the door, she felt uneasy about this though she had her eyes peeled for anymore of the undead, she was sure there were more drawing closer to them with each second. Her paranoia made her occasionally check the windows of the nearby houses as well, how could they be sure this guy was alone anyway? What am I doing out here? She dropped one of her hands to rest on the gun at her waist, she couldn’t shift her feeling of unease as she waited. “Hey, are you nearly done?” She called softly through the door, her hand twitching up in a reflexive motion as he appeared in the doorway. She exhaled and stepped back from the door allowing him through it, she listened to what he said unable to prevent another frown creasing her expression. Enough for the 4 of us? We’re a group now?

She reached up to her face pushing a strand of her fringe behind her ear. “Remy hmm? I suppose its faster to say then Vest guy” She acknowledged his name, her jaw was tight and her brow was creased it wasn’t easy to decipher whether she had meant that in a humorous manner or not. She cast her glance around them one last time before following after him as he moved away. “We should get back to the others” She kept her eyes peeled as she walked beside him. “Remy...” She murmured his name glancing at him without moving her head. “I feel like we’re being watched” She whispered to him, her hand had remained on the handle of her hand gun the whole time, her other hand gripping her trusty combat knife.

As the rock sailed past her head she jolted her hand up, her gun in her hand as she spun on the spot her gun already held in a ready position to shoot should she need to, her finger hovered over the trigger as her eyes zeroed in on the Hispanic woman. Her gaze remained hard as she watched the woman smile and wave, though expected her expression to change when she saw the brandished firearm. Tamashii’s other hand slipped the combat knife into her belt quickly before she lifted it to support her handgun, it was a curious predicament they found themselves in. Last time she had been pointing this gun at Remy...Mercy had convinced her to give him a chance, the other woman wasn’t here now. “Who the hell are you?” Tamashii growled, already angry with herself for allowing this person to sneak up on them. She cast Remy a very short glare, keeping him within her peripheral vision. How did he miss her? she didn’t like standing with her back towards open ground but this situation left her little choice, she kept her ears peeled for even the slightest sound behind her.

I was not sure how to go about it so I lead her to that store some mentioned, well she is close. Her dog is at the store though.

It's ok, the survivors are kind of split at the moment anyway, was probably best to just pick a mentioned building and head for it ^^
