Watchpoint: Gibraltar was once an outpost teaming with heroes from around the world. During the golden era of Overwatch it stood as a strategic point on the Mediterranean. The bases' vibrant oranges, whites, and browns collided symbolically with nigh-golden rocks and ocean blue. Those days seemed but distant memories now. While the colors never changed, aside from the occasional rust, the inhabitants did.

A base that once saw regular traffic was now desolate; its only occupants a gorilla, scientist, named Winston and his computer program Athena. The constant flow of new heroes had halted entirely since Overwatch had disbanded. Gibraltar was a husk, a representation of what Overwatch had become, and a culmination of all of the failures of the organization. As rust had crept through every crack and crevice of the outpost so too had the overwhelming feeling of helplessness. Winston's powerful mind betrayed him as he seemed to cycle, ad infinitum, through every stage of grief.

Ultimately it would be around a decade of grief, and a constant barrage of new threats that made Winston decide that it was time that Overwatch returned to set things right. In the midst of a Second Omnic Crisis and Talon operating far more frequently, the world needed new heroes as well as old ones. Winston realized that not every former agent would be up to this, but he also knew that many heroes would once again answer the call.

Unfortunately, Reaper- formerly Gabriel Reyes- had managed to catch wind of Winston's mission to recall the agents of Overwatch. Through methods unknown to Winston, the mercenary managed to capture a prize he had long been seeking. Vital information that outlined a myriad of heroes' identities was leaked to Talon operatives. To protect other agents, both new and old, Winston re-instated the Blackwatch operative force. For now, the agents of Overwatch would operate covertly until they could restore the public image of years passed.

Today was the day that this journey for redemption and reformation began. The agents have been recalled to Watchpoint: Gilbratar in secret. Though our heroes are here for their own, respective reasons- they all are now the conduits for a resurgence that will change the world forever.

Heroism. Sacrifice. Nobility

Thirty years ago these virtues meant more than placating to lynch-mobs and omniphobic rhetoric. It meant more than complacency in a world that was far from equal for all of its populace- be they human or not. Thirty years ago these three pillars of justice were associated with Overwatch. An elite international task-force that sought to restore order, peace, and justice to a world riddled with conflict and suffering.

In the end it seemed that Overwatch wasn't immune to the same problems that befell the rest of the world. The public turned away from Overwatch, and in its absence strife has become the norm for omnics and humans alike.

The year is 2076, and today marks a new beginning for Overwatch. Be warned that this journey will not be an easy one. The world has grown colder than before, and many are rightfully wary of what our organization has stood for. We will learn from the mistakes of thirty years ago, and we will work to rebuild the pillars that once upheld Overwatch.

You are now an agent of Overwatch, more specifically our re-instated Blackwatch Unit. The world is not yet ready to know that more agents stand prepared to answer the call. You, we, will work to ensure the safety of all people- no matter their identity- throughout the world. We are the heroes of Overwatch. While we may give you our hearts and our bodies, our nobility and pursuit of justice will never be sacrificed.


Should you need to research the lore of the universe or particular characters/organizations the Overwatch Wiki is a good place to start. You may also refer to the Mission Log section listed below for updates on the lore being developed within this RP.

Rules

• No god-modding/power playing. The only one that should be auto-hitting is the GM, and even then this will only occur on rare occasions for plot purposes.
• Please submit a character sheet for your character before posting in the IC. Once you've submitted a sheet the GM will PM you with a review of your character and their role in the RP.
• Each post in the IC should be around two paragraphs. Your post may be longer than this, but you should strive for detailed posts. When doing a collaborative post it is recommended that users plan this in advance and use websites like TitanPad to make your post cohesive and neat.
• If you have concerns regarding the RP or about another player please send the GM a PM so that we can work on a solution to solve the issue.
• Avoid multi-posts and double posts. Be sure to give other players a chance to respond to your post.
• Have fun! Overwatch is an amazing experience and universe, and our main priority here is to enjoy a story based in said universe.

@Lmpkio Let's see if any other players join up first. Another user expressed interest in joining up! In the meantime I'll work on getting at least a skeleton of the OOC out for everyone to keep up with excitement.

@Lmpkio Don't worry; I'm working on it now. Though, admittedly I would like to see a few more oc's before we begin. We'll have to see how it turns out.

@Ghost Queen Yes, there is room for another player! I'm working on the OCC now! Feel free to make a character.

Also, to the larger group, I'm having a bit of a hard time deciding on the RP style. I was thinking that based on abilities and the mission objective that the RP would basically consist of missions (where a team is chosen based on their abilities, just like in-game). There would also be some downtime. If anyone would ever want to, I could definitely look into creating a "Mission Sheet" where you can create a mission for the team to take on. The group would vote on it in OOC, and then we could RP it.

Let me know any preferences or ideas you've all had regarding the RP.

@Katakon- I heard that it was confirmed that she wasn't, but I can't say for sure yet. I kind of hope she isn't and that Sombra is an evil character lol.

Also, seeing all of this stuff about Ana, does that mean she actually isn't Sombra? I'm kind of confused on whether or not she is. Also, there is a little cinematic trailer if you all haven't seen it already (for the Ana reveal).

@Katakon I actually saw a schematic for Ana's weapon a few days before I made this RP. I thought that was where you got inspiration haha. If anything we could always tie in Art with Ana, perhaps he was given an advanced or modified version of Ana's weapon? If not, that's fine too, but it would make sense lore wise. Feel free to let me know.
