Name: Felix Faust
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Appearance: An androgynous looking man with pale white skin, shoulder-length straight black hair, metallic grey eyes, and stoic facial features. Five foot, eleven inches tall with a lean but thin build.

Bio: Hundreds of years of engineering humans to be virus resistant, structurally sound, ultimately efficient creatures has lead to his creation, with a mind-to-machine interface, and a mesh of mechanically enhanced features. He would consider himself neutral, but to most, his past reflect a man with questionable ethics and even more questionable actions.

Feats of strength: Not particularly much stronger than the average human, stronger yes, but not enough so to show anything too monumentally spectacular. Compensates through other feats of agility and intelligence. But if you must have a feat of strength, he once opened a jar of pickles with one hand! 35

Feats of agility: Can move much faster than average, not overly flexible, but does have heightened dexterity and reaction times through much physical practice and mental discipline. Can weave through a crowd full of people at a pace faster than most can comprehend. 35

Feats of toughness: Tougher than your average human, but not so much so that he cannot be beaten. Skin is somewhat synthetic and has regenerative properties. Doesn't heal instantly, but fast enough to not be able to be picked apart to pieces. Though his parts can easily be repaired or replaced if need be. 35

Feats of intelligence: Capable of bending space and time with his thoughts. Not a constant state of manipulation from the mind, just more that it takes the right thoughts to manipulate a certain aspect of something. Could be used to, for example, take an area of space, and manipulate that field's time to speed up to the point in that crossing that field would push you through it fast enough to break the sound barrier and generate a sonic boom. Can be used to push things beyond the speed of light, to teleport. 100

Feats of willpower: Very persistent. Has not died yet. 50

Feats of luck: Has actually pretty bad luck, has had more run-ins with near-death and friends dying around him than should naturally occur. 20

Feats of perception: The ability to zoom in/out field of vision, hearing like a safe-cracker, and sense of touch capable of extending past human reach, into the air surrounding. 60

Equipment: Nothing worth noting, aside from a .50 caliber sniper rifle and the case it's carried in.

Universe of Origin: A dystopian futuristic version of Earth.

Power: 335
So, once we have our power, we should post our cs in the Characters tab with our overall power?

Thanks! But, well, I don't really see it as criticism; this is my first time running a game for people online, and I need to make sure that we're all happy with the direction this ship is going, so to speak. Talking about what works and what doesn't is an important discussion to have. I want to run a game that makes people happy! This isn't to say that I don't have my own ideas, but "helping my players have a good time" is the first priority. Hopefully, most of the time, I get it right. Sometimes, though, I'll have to ask to make sure I get it right. And, sometimes, I'll have to be told by others when I've got it wrong.

Apologies as ever for the rambling, but, basically, don't fret at all about telling me what I can change to make this work better for you. It will be hard, at times, to juggle everyone's needs, but I've put the GM Hat on to run a game that people will enjoy first and foremost, rather than to demand people play in the sandbox we've come together to make in a certain way.

I'm not even technically a player yet and I'm still happy with how all this is going. xD

a little ship time sounds fun so long as we don't keep @Fancy Party waiting to long.

I'm actually fine with waiting for the time being, gives me more time to refine my introductory post ideas. Plus this is one of the few games I actually enjoy reading.

I know I'm technically not part of the story yet, but I'm cool with a "this-is-what-the-ship-is-like" type adventure.
@Fancy Party So, if its octodad, do we notice hes an octopus cat or a human that feels off? Toony is a robot so disguises probably wont trick her as easy if its the latter. xD

Haha, good question. While Bunz is good with stealth and disguise, nah he'll be noticeable as what he is. I think it would be hard to get away with being human with a fish-bowl over his head. Though, he probably will ask Toony to make that resonant frequency weapon for him down the line in different iterations, probably as a rifle of some sort first.

Hopefully not too far off base, although I also got a bit of a github's octocat vibe, but that might be more due to my enduring love of adorable mascots and the common species name "octocat".

Never heard of it.

So i am imaging Octodad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTmONNEUXjI with cat features and an exo-suit. how of base is that?

Yeah, pretty much.

Yup. But (there's always a but, huh?) you'll end up, through some way or another, working as part of the Quest For Flavour, as that is more-or-less what will be keeping the group together. That and, naturally, the shared love of Henderson's Ribs. So it might be worth thinking about how that'll come about - the backstory is a-okay, it's just something to consider. Somehow, Bunz is a member of the Interplanetary Space Friends, after all.

I shall add Bunz, Diplomat from the Darkest Octocat Timeline to the list of characters on the first OOC post. Throw Bunz (gently) over to the character tab.

Added, let me know if I need to change anything on the sheet. I'll give some thought to how they'll end up joining the Quest for Flavour.

Got it! I'm quietly working on populating this potential party with various peoples, may have to throw in some kind of super-excitable marine biologist.

Come up with something new, or build on something I've said, or field suggestions from the rest of the players, or pick up the nearest book, skip to page one hundred and twenty one and take your inspiration from that.

On the time travel front, it's the Holy Grail of Mad Scientists. Accidents are more common than successes. There are people who claim to be from the future, travelling back to the past with dire warnings about various calamities or simply hoping for a chance to beat up their childhood bully (a nod to @TwelveOf8, and an idea to be thrown into what is tentatively being called The Backstory Arc). There are people claiming to be time-travellers who are in the business of stopping other time-travellers from causing some future calamity in their attempt to stave off another. Accidents arising from time travel involve being sent back to the wrong time, the wrong place, appearing in the wrong body, spontaneous combustion, destroying entire dimensions, summoning weird creatures from outside time and space that call themselves "Paradox" and waking up to find your family tree looks more like an ouroboros than something nice, like a pine or an oak or something. Most Mad Scientists involved in this dangerous field opt to send other people forwards and backwards in time, because even Mad Scientists have some sense of self-preservation and think twice before stepping into a "time machine" made in their basement from parts they'd ordered off SpaceNet.

Even if time travel is successful, few people would believe such a claim. It doesn't help that most who claim to have done so have wild hair, crazy looking eyes, refer to themselves in the third person and generally insist on shouting about the "end of time".

How about him being a diplomat from the future for the octocat people who at this point in time are dying off and no one knows why, but in the future it is understood that it is because their people try to survive outside of ocean planets without a proper means to survive out of the water. So, Bunz has created a suit that he wears for people like him to be able to survive out of water, to try and bring them back from the brink of extinction. Though in his travels into the past, he discovered there were potential investors and industrial producers (who could produce the parts to his suit in mass) here in Ofromia, attending the party. Sound reasonable?
Afraid so! Don't be afraid though. It's not too scary. Also, apologies if this gets rambling, haven't had enough tea this morning and so my thoughts are everywhere. The two things I'd like to ask are:

1) How common are Octocats? Are they a rare sight in a galaxy full of weird things, or the sort of thing that most folks wouldn't bat an eyelid at seeing? Or somewhere in between? I like to know this sort of thing, so that I'm not accidentally having some NPCs freak out about a character when their expectation was that their species was relatively common.

2) Ofromia! The planet the party is being hosted on is called Ofromia. How did the character end up there? They could be a native (broadly speaking, it's quite multicultural there), a visitor, stranded by the cruel winds of fate, woken up there after a brief spell of cryonic suspension, a time travel accident, there's... there's a lot of options there. If you're wanting to be from Ofromia, I can finish typing up my notes into something a little more readable and send them your way.

It would be somewhere in between. Its common to find their corpses, the shells of their bodies left behind, but to meet a living one is fairly uncommon, but not to the point anyone should be overly excited to meet one. They're more common in some parts of the galaxy than others, particularly they're more commonly found around oceanic planets.

Time travel accident sounds like fun, what did you have in mind for that? Or should I come up with something?
