Húrin is of average height for a Bosmer male… which is to say not very tall at all. His frame however is slightly stockier than the average Bosmer, a result no doubt of his partial imperial blood. The fact that his mother was half-imperial has also resulted in his facial features being somewhat more human, with a more squarish jawline and a more blockish head. That said, in person one can see that he is clearly more Mer than Man; without knowing of his bloodline, one would probably not even think anything of it. On his forehead he has a tattoo which is reminiscent of the ancient markings found in his hometown of Halfmoon Grove. His hair is thick and silvery, and will often vary in length depending on the season and how often he can find someone he’ll trust to cut it. At the moment his hair stretches down towards his shoulders and will usually be tied back. He has light brown eyes, the left of which is marked by an old scar (which fortunately did not touch the eyeball itself).

【Personality】

The word that probably defines Húrin best is ‘traditional’ – this being in the context of a Valenwood born Bosmer. Having been born in an old remote community, he adheres strictly to the Green Pact and other Bosmer traditions. This includes being completely carnivorous and, much to the disdain of others not familiar with the tradition, cannibalistic. Indeed even after leaving Valenwood he still continues to respect the green and avoids harming vegetation. He also continues to pray to the Forest God Y’ffre on at least a daily basis. Whilst he is very devout himself, he does not begrudge others for having different (and sometimes opposing) beliefs; as long as he is shown respect he will return it. Whilst his values are somewhat unorthodox to most citizens of Tamriel, he is in general a very moral and ethical person who strives to avoid conflict with others when possible, and who will defend the vulnerable if he is able.

In regards to his social aspects, he has been described as some as ‘reserved’. But in truth this only because he tends to live a solitary life, not because he is in anyway shy or unable to speak to others. Indeed, when he does interact with others he is usually quite confident and willing to speak his mind, almost with too much honesty at times. The only reason he lives a solitary life is because he chooses not to live in stone towns and villages, preferring to be close to nature; as such he simply comes across less people.

【History】
Húrin was born into the small community of Halfmoon Grove, in the North-East of Valenwood. He was the only child of Erlian and Aravis, two Bosmer which had been trying desperately for years to conceive a child. Being only a few decades old, Húrin was of course born under the rule of the Aldmeri Dominion. For the early part of his life he thought little of this, with politics having a negligible effect in the remote corner of the forest in which he lived. He often heard elders and merchants moaning and whispering about how the High Elves seemed to treat them like lesser beings, but never though much of it. The only time he ever even saw the Dominion was when they marched through the area on their way to the borders; he would sit silently in the trees and watch as the golden armies seeped through the trees like a stream.

Instead of an Aldmeri dominated youth, Húrin actually was brought up in a very traditional Bosmer way. His father and mother were both rangers, and so he was taught from a young age how to use a bow, track, hunt and generally survive the wild. Religion actually played a massive part in his life, with his family and community teaching him to worship Y'ffre (the God of the Forest) and honour the Green Pact made by the Bosmer to their God. For those that do not know of the Green Pact, it is an Oath which prohibits the harming of vegetation and is basically the opposite of veganism. Because of this Húrin will for example only use weapons which he himself has crafted from the corpses of his prey.

For most of his life, even into his twenties, Húrin simply led the life of a simple ranger. Most days would be spent hunting for food to eat that very day, or to gather supplies that the crafter’s requested, or to track down a local threat (be bandits or monsters). Risks were always moderated, and he never set out on a task which he though he couldn’t handle with ease. For example if there were four bandits nearby, he would take five friends with him to ensure the odds were in his favour. During this quiet part of his life he also met his fiancé, Yasmin. She was slightly younger than him but her personality and wit definitely trumped his own. Living in such a small community it was easy for them to fall so deeply in love and become engaged so quickly; it wasn’t like there was much competition.

It wasn’t until about seven years ago, just prior to what should have been his and Yasmin’s wedding, that his life suddenly changed. Following the news that a neighbouring community had recently had an incident with Thalmor officials, Húrin and a couple of his kinsmen went to investigate. Upon arriving they were told by the villagers that a group of Altmer had been caught chopping down sacred trees in the local area and were scared off repeatedly. Although the village had at that point no issue with the Dominion, they refused to allow such desecration to occur. Húrin and his kinsmen were sympathetic towards them but did not think too much of the incident, as was the case with many of the villagers, and decided to stay a few nights in good spirit. It was on the second night of staying here however that Húrin discovered just how ruthless the Thalmor could be. Angered by the community’s disobedience, the Thalmor sent troops and agents to purge the village. Húrin was awakened during the middle of the night to the sounds of screaming, the crackling of spells and the roar of fire. He desperately tried to aid in the defence of the village, killing many of the attackers, but ultimately realised that it was a lost cause and fled – something which he still feels shame for doing.

Upon returning to Halfmoon Grove, he told everyone what had happened and informed the family of his kinsmen that they had perished. There were few who did not believe him, but the Grove did not know how to react. They certainly could not pose any sort of threat to the Thalmor. Húrin tried to convince his friends and family to flee the Dominion, fearing that they too might one day be purged. When they refused he suggested that if Thalmor present at the purge recognised him, that the Grove would likely be attacked too, but his family insisted that they could hide and protect him. Feeling like he had no other choice, Húrin left in the middle of the night without saying farewells and fled to Cyrodiil; he would not remain and risk putting those he loved in danger.

Since fleeing to Cyrodiil Húrin has remained a hunter, but has become somewhat nomadic. He frequently tries to get in touch with other Bosmer and will warn anyone willing to listen what the Dominion do to those beneath them.

【Skills and Abilities】
Húrin is first and foremost a ranger. In fact he is very much the typical archetype of a bow wielding Wood Elf, as cliché and boring as that might sound. He is a very talented archer, stemming from both years of experience and from an inherit knack common to his race. He isn’t the best archer in the world, but he is good enough to move and shoot without missing every shot. The fact that he has relied on his archery on a daily basis to keep himself fed should be somewhat of a testament to his ability. As an extension of this he has also learned how to make bow and arrows, a skill which he uses both for survival and occasionally income.

Húrin is a very good hunter, able to track and kill a variety of targets. This of course tends to mean animals and beasts, but has occasionally meant bandits. Whilst he was trained to track and hunt using traditional methods (by following tracks, following scents, leaving bait, etc.), he compliments is hunting abilities with is novice Illusion magic. For example he uses a weak chameleon spell to help him hide, and can use a somewhat weaker and unorthodox version of clairvoyance to follow tracks beyond his non-magical ability. As per the Green Pact, Húrin will make use of as much of the corpse as he can after killing his prey.

Due to taking part in the Rite of Theft growing up, Húrin is a mildly capable thief. He can pick-pocket the less perceptive of people, although his lock-picking skills are pretty awful.

【Weapons/Tools and Magic】
Weapons/Tools/Armour
Húrin usually makes his own bow and arrows, and the ones he is using at current is no exception. He uses a longbow fashioned out of the bones of a bear and the sinews of a deer. Because of the way he has treated and maintained the bow however, one could easily mistake it for a usual light-coloured wooden bow. Whilst he does collect any salvageable arrows he comes across, most of his arrows are made by him using a combination of bone, flint and feathers. He also carries with him a small steel carving knife which he brought off a merchant, but this is used more for skinning and the like rather than combat.

Húrin wear a set of rough leather armour (which looks very similar to this). The outfit consists of: plain leather boots, gloves and trousers; a black woollen shirt (not chainmail like in the pic); an armless leather chest piece; a leather neckguard and hood; and assortment of pouches and a small satchel. He has purchased or found all of this armour over time since leaving Valenwood, having discarded his previous armour in the hopes of attracting less attention from racist humans. Whilst his crafting skills don’t stretch too well into the business of cloth making and smithing, he knows enough to maintain his armour and repair small damages. As he scavenges as much as he can off corpses, his pouches and bag are often filled with a variety of organic materials which have varying uses.

Magical Spells
Chameleon – Húrin is capable of using a fairly weak Chameleon spell to help him blend into his surroundings. He is still very much visible but he won’t draw the eye as much and it does make it easier for him to sneak around.
Tracking Clairvoyance – When Húrin begins to lose tracks, he can use this spell to help keep him on the right path. However not only does this require a fair bit of focus and energy to upkeep, it can sometimes not take him to the intended target. Unlike Heroes such as the Dragonborn, he certainly cannot use this spell to find any objective nor will he ever be.

【Personality】
Frother is a true Nord, adhering to what many consider to be the morals of Skyrim. He is brave, resilient, pious, and will not hesitate to fight if needed. Many consider him to be a good High King due to his efforts to rebuild Skyrim and increase the standards of living for his people. An obvious Talos worshipper, he not only managed to avoid Thalmor punishment due to his position, but often took steps to help his people avoid persecution for their beliefs. Despite the difficulties he caused with the Dominion during peace-time, he maintained a good ally of the Empire. He has encouraged diversity within Skyrim and like his father, has many different races as part of his council.

【History】
Frothar was the eldest born son of Balgruuf the Greater, the then Jarl of Whiterun. His mother died at some point during his early childhood and he only has a few memories of her. He also had two younger siblings, Dagny and Nelkir. Growing up Frothar was taught by his father and his counsel a number of things, ranging from warfare tactics to political etiquette. Whilst he was not allowed to hold a sword until he was in his teens, he did practice combat from an early age, teaching himself how to fight hand-to-hand. Having grown up during the time of the civil war and the return of the Dragons, Frothar saw much more violence and death than any child should have to. But being as resilient as Nords come, Frothar was able to cope with such trauma and only grew stronger in character as a result.

After the Civil War came to an end his father was chosen by the Jarls to become the next High King of Skyrim. It was not something his father had ever really sought, but in the absence of a better candidate he accepted the decision. Therefore the family relocated to Solitude whilst Whiterun went to his uncle Hrongar. Whilst this move was good for Balgruuf and Frothar, it seemed to have negative effects on his siblings. The more lavish lifestyle and environment caused his sister Dagny to become more spoilt than she had before, and grew up with an elitist princess like persona which made her very unpopular. Nelkir simply seemed to break down when he was taken from Whiterun, and on several occasions ran-away back to his original home only to be found sulking around in the basement of Dragonsreach. Over time Nelkir seemed to grow stranger and more reserved, despite attempts by his family to help him.

Throughout his teens Frothar shadowed his father, learning and preparing for the day that he would eventually succeed him. When he wasn’t at his father’s side he was doing either one of three things: fighting; drinking; or going off on an adventure. In regards to fighting this was often with the Legionnaires stationed in Solitute, for he would often train and spar with them, and eventually earned the name Steel-Fist due to his ability to best pretty much anyone in a brawl. As for his adventures, not one is exactly sure. Some dragon hunters have claimed that the heir to the throne accompanied them on a hunt. Others have said that they’ve seen him climbing the Throat of the World to visit the Grey Beards.

Ten years ago, whilst still a young man, Frothar ascended to the Throne of Skyrim. It was a tragic event that spurred this on, one that is still taboo to discuss. It was on the 13th of Frostfall that Frothar returned home to find his brother Nelkir covered in blood standing over the body of his father in the throne room of the Blue Palace. When confronted Nelkir did not deny the deed, claiming that the Daedric Prince Mephala had commanded him to do it. Overcome with rage and grief, Frothar lunged at his brother with his bare hands and was able to overcome him. Weeks later he was crowned High King of Skyrim and as a bloody first act ordered the public execution of his brother.

Since then the young King has been continuing his father’s efforts, working tirelessly to rebuild Skyrim and put an end to the lingering dragon threat. With the re-emergence of the Great War he has been trying to raise forces and send them south. Rumour is that as well as supplying the legions with more troops, he is trying to amass his own large army so that he can join the war in person.

【Notable Skills, Abilities or Items】
Frothar is an exceptional fighter and commander, having years of both training and experience in military strategy and tactics. Whilst he is a good swordsman, he is known more for his outstanding prowess with his bare hands. He is a natural leader.

Normally the King will wear regal robes that although vary in appearance, are often of a similar style worn by his father and other Jarls. When going to battle however the King will wear a unique set of Nordic Carved Armour which was made by Eorlund Gray-Mane at the Skyforge. As well as this armour, he will also wear the Jagged Crown in the midst of battle. He wields a Warhammer.

Fasendil is loyal to the Imperial Legion, having joined in his youth in an attempt to sate his wanderlust and having spent around two centuries working his way up through the ranks. He has a deep seeded distrust of the Thalmor and seems likely that he has both ideological and personal reasons for hating them. As a commander he is calm and calculated, and has used his wit to win many battles. He feels like it is the Empire’s duty to protect all of its citizens from threats like the Dominion, even when they start rebelling (as was the case in Skyrim).

"My parents were wandering merchants eventually settling in Cyrodiil, I must have inherited their wanderlust. I joined the Legion to see the world, I know that's just one of those things that people say, but it's completely true in my case. It wasn't long before I saw more of the world than I bargained for."

"Back in 42 I was stationed in Hammerfell, on leave in Sentinel, trying to track down refugee family members who were trying to escape persecution in Alinor. Suddenly, an explosion of magic in the refugee quarter. Thalmor mages were attacking Altmer dissidents, who were resisting with magic of their own. I ran with some other legionaries who were stationed there, but the entire quarter was a smoking ruin by the time we got there, everyone was dead, wholesale slaughter. The Dominion, not content with killing dissidents of their own back home, came to Hammerfell to finish the job. We're supposedly at peace now, but I put in to be stationed here to keep an eye on the Thalmor, I have a feeling they're behind this unrest here in Skyrim."

“Yes, I was in Skyrim during the Civil War. I saw first-hand how Ulfric and his racist thugs used fear mongering and dirty tactics to divide the country. He ruined Skyrim, bringing death to thousands of Nords and Imperial Citizens. Had he been put down sooner then maybe we’d be putting up a stronger defence against the Dominion now.”

“Ah, so you’ve heard of the Liberation of Leyawiin? It was not half as glorious as some like to make out. Yes, me and a unit of veteran Altmer legionnaires went deep behind enemy lines. Yes, we managed to infiltrate Leyawiin disguised as Thalmor. And yes, we fought against a force five or so times our size. But we would not have been able to hold the city were it not for: the imperial forces that kept the Dominion front lines busy; or the Khajiit rebels that wrecked the Dominion supply lines and drew away their forces; or the Argonian smugglers that kept our forces supplied and fed.”

Having spent around two decades in the Imperial Legions, fighting in a number of battles and wars, Fasendil has become an exceptional fighter and commander. He is one of the Legion’s best swordsmen and, in times of peace, has been responsible for training hundreds of troops. It is unknown whether or not he has any aptitude for magic.

The Setting (Messy WIP):

The year is 4E 224. Set a mere twenty years after the defeat of Alduin, Tamriel once again finds itself strife with conflict and many of its citizens are in danger. Not only has the war between the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion has been resparked, but many other things threaten to consume the land. Many dragons appear to have escaped the wrath of the Dragonborn and continue to ravage the mortal races, now having spread beyond Skyrim. The presence of Daedra appears to be as strong as ever, despite the sacrifice of Martin Septim over two hundred years ago. And now rumours are beginning to circulate that towns and individuals are being replaced by evil body snatchers; although many of these rumours have been supposedly disproved, the moral panic is having some widespread effects.

The last Dragonborn has long since disappeared and details surrounding what happened around the time he defeated Alduin are still somewhat sketchy. Still, it is clear that he had a very severe impact on Skyrim and that has resulted in the conflict that has arisen now. Some claim that the Dragonborn supported the Empire during the civil war, others claim the Stormcloaks, and a few even claim he was a neutral party. What is known for sure is that the Empire suffered incredibly heavy losses, including the death of General Tullius, whilst Ulfric Stormcloak and his rebellion were eventually wiped out. The combination of civil war and the return of the Dragons left Skyrim, and by extension the Empire, weakened considerably. During this period of conflict the Emperor Titus Mede II was also assassinated, possibly even by the Dragonborn, which led to the Empire falling into further turmoil. These events and others prompted the Aldermi Dominion to break the peace treaty and strike again.

This RP begins on the third night of the siege of Leyawin. During the night multiple people across Tamriel find themselves in a horrific nightmare before being freed by a mysterious being wielding a hammer. These individuals awake to find a dark scar marked onto their chests, where the hammer had stuck. There is no damage however nor any obvious signs of other lasting effects. It is clear that these markings are not natural and that there is an air of magic about them, but even experienced mages struggle to explain the marks. Given the current state of affairs, some people bearing the marks simple do not care and have more important things to deal with (in their opinion). Others make it their sole mission to learn more about the mysterious dream and mark. You are one of these marked individuals, but what will you do?

Rules/Things to consider:

• I want this to be as lore-friendly as possible. However I do acknowledge that this is fan-fiction and Elder Scrolls’ lore is somewhat complicated and even contradictory at the best of times anyway.
• This RP won’t see players huddled together as part of a single team. Instead players will be given free-reign over what their character does, where they go, and who they do and do not speak to. Your player can form their own group and sit in the corner of the world in a cave for all I care. This not only encourages creativity but means that if someone drops out it doesn’t really have much of an effect. Also means people can join at will.
• Players should strive for balance and feasibleness. You are not the Hero of Kvatch nor are you the Dragonborn – you cannot master every type of magic, be the world’s best swordsman and spend your evenings forging dragon bone armour.
• I would like your characters to progress, both personally and in regards to skills and weapons. Therefore start with crap armour and stuff please. And no powerful artefacts, be they daedric or otherwise!
• You can have followers and create/kill NPCs at your will.
• Magic and skills aren’t restricted to the skills game characters can learn. But still try keep it lore friendly. Keep it balanced! And no flying.
• You can be minor characters from previous games, although I discourage this.
• There will be multiple plot-lines which I’ll weave in with various methods. One for example will be me posting rumours which you can then have your character hear IC. You can however make your own ones up! You can even be a dick and interfere in other players made-up plots!
• You can fight and kill each other! I encourage your CHARACTERS to be dicks to each other, but not if that means you PLAYERS being dicks to each other. Agreeing to collabing an epic battle OOC = awesome. Not talking OOC and then suddenly shooting another character in the eye = bit of a dick move. And try not to swear or use bad language too much, dicks.
• I am an awful GM. Just awful. I will unexpectedly drop off the face of the Earth for months. If you are happy to casually go on without me or usurp me then this RP should be fine. If however this is likely to cause problems in your mind, then I suggest you jump out of the nearest window.

Timeline and Lore

You can find a useful timeline here on the Elder Scrolls Wikia. You can find lots of other useful information on that site, as well as on UESP. Of course, as this is set after Skyrim, it means that there is no lore (that I know of) on the current period or the last twenty years. For the sake of story and setting I've already made up some huge parts of it, and you can find it attached to the end of the timeline below and within my other writing! As long as you don't contradict me or existing lore too much, I'm happy for you to make crap up to your hearts content (obviously, this is an RP).

Here is a timeline containing useful/relevant events from the recent past. I'll update it with suggestions and as the RP/Players reveal other past events.

A new era begins after the Oblivion Crisis comes to an end.

4E 22

The Thalmor came into power of Summerset Isle. Summerset Isle is renamed to Alinor, but is still referred to as Summerset Isle outside the Third Aldmeri Dominion.

4E 29

The government of Valenwood is overthrown by the Thalmor sympathizers. The Bosmeri, allied with the Empire, were unprepared. Valenwood becomes a Thalmor territory.

4E 115

Coup against the Elsweyr Confederacy takes place. Elsweyr is divided into the kingdoms of Anequina and Pelletine, as extensions of the Aldmeri Dominion.

4E 171

The Ambassador of the Aldmeri Dominion orders the Empire to step down from power. The Empire resists, and the Great War between The Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion begins.

Aldmeri forces led by Lord Naarifin invade Hammerfell and Cyrodiil. The city of Leyawiin falls, and the city of Bravil is besieged.

A 2nd Aldmeri force, led by Lady Arannelya, cross western Cyrodiil and invade Hammerfell. The Redguards in Hammerfell, divided by civil war and disorganized, put up little resistance. The southern coastline falls to the Aldmeri forces as the Imperial Legions in Hammerfell retreat North into the Alik'r Desert.

Aldmeri forces advance into Cyrodiil to capture the Imperial City.

The cities of Bravil and Anvil in Cyrodiil both fall to Aldmeri forces. Naval battles ensues in Lake Rumare surrounding Imperial City and along the Niben River leading to the Rumare.

Cyrodiil: The Thalmor leadership decides to focus their forces in the Cyrodiil campaign and the Imperial City falls to the Aldmeri forces.

4E 175

The Battle of the Red Ring takes place as the Empire embarks on a campaign to retake Imperial City, which fell to the Aldmeri Dominion the previous year. The battle was an Imperial victory, but not without heavy losses.

Exhausted from war, the Empire negotiates a peace treaty and signs the White-Gold Concordat with the Aldmeri Dominion, thus ending the war. The terms of the agreements are the surrender of the remaining territory still occupied by Aldmeri Force, and the banning of the worship of Talos. Thus, the Great War ends.

As a result of the White-Gold Concordat, relationship between the Imperials of Cyrodiil and the Redguard of Hammerfell deteriorated. Although allies during the war, the Empire is forced to renounce Hammerfell as an Imperial province.

All the Elder Scrolls housed in the libraries of White-Gold Tower vanish, and are scattered across Tamriel by unknown means.

As a follow-up to the White-Gold Concordat, the Second Treaty of Stros M'kai is signed, which decrees that Aldmeri occupation forces are to withdraw from Hammerfell

Civil War begins in Skyrim.

Alduin is slain by the Dragonborn during the Battle of the Tongues.

Whilst the Dominion gathers its forces in Bravil, Legate Fasendil infiltrates Leyawin with a large unit of Imperial Altmer and takes back the city, releasing it from 50 years of occupation.

A large Dominion fleet is ambushed and destroyed by Imperial forces stationed at Leyawin.

A surprise rebellion in Elsywer, which is backed by Black Marsh, draws away the Dominions resources and weakens their invasion.

Dominion forces fail in an effort to retake Leyawin, but deal heavy damage to Imperial forces.

Due to heavy losses and a disruption in supply lines, the Dominion is forced to withdraw from Blackwood and a large part of the Nibenay Valley (with the exception of Bravil).

The Aldmeri lays siege to Skingrad but is beaten and pushed back.

Dominion forces regrouping in the Colovian Highlands are attack by a large force from Hammerfell, who come to the aid of the Empire.

Intense fighting engulfs the Gold Coast and the West Wield, as both sides throw all they have at each other.

Black Marsh claims to be a neutral party but are accused by the Dominion of supporting Khajit rebels and providing reinforcements and provisions to the Imperial forces at Leyawiin.

Map and Political Geography

Just to clarify a couple of points about borders, because both the lore and this OOC make things a bit hazy. In this RP I've assumed that following the White-Gold Concordat, Bravil and Leyawiin remained in Domion control; most people seem to think that they became part of Cyrodill again, but I can't make sense of why. At the start of this RP, Leyawiin is back in the hands of the Empire but is besieged by the Dominion. Anvil and Skingrad are both in the hands of the Empire, but have taken damage. Kvatch however is under Dominion rule, and Mer infest the highlands. Hammerfell is independent of the Empire and it's not under occupation. Black Marsh is independent and holds some of the south of Morrowind. Morrowind is independent but is in an awful state. Skyrim is under Empire rule but is still recovering from the Civil War and the return of Alduin. High Rock is under Empire control.

Here is a map that may help. It's a modified version of a map that I've found on a few different sites (no idea who the original creator is). I welcome discussion on this issue, as I do with every other topic.

Banner Competition:

Because the banner I made is awful, there is to be a competition for best banner design! Entries must be made before the RP starts. You don't actually have to make it yourself, you can commission someone else, but you must give the actual creator credit (that doesn't mean you won't still get the prize though). The Banner can be anything you want, but must have the RP title on it. Winner will be voted on by the players, although I will have 2 votes (because FU). The winner's character will retrieve a decent weapon from existing lore either prior to the start of the RP or at the start.

Well that's five people including myself and @Hank (assuming Hank is interested and didn't just come here to spoil my awesome plot). I'll probably get an OOC up in the next day or two, which will hopefully attract more people too.

p.s. Here's the character that I'll be mainly playing as for this RP. And although I'm the GM, please do not think my character is in anyway the protagonist of the story; he is as disposable as any other character.

Húrin is of average height for a Bosmer male… which is to say not very tall at all. His frame however is slightly stockier than the average Bosmer, a result no doubt of his partial imperial blood. The fact that his mother was half-imperial has also resulted in his facial features being somewhat more human, with a more squarish jawline and a more blockish head. That said, in person one can see that he is clearly more Mer than Man; without knowing of his bloodline, one would probably not even think anything of it. On his forehead he has a tattoo which is reminiscent of the ancient markings found in his hometown of Halfmoon Grove. His hair is thick and silvery, and will often vary in length depending on the season and how often he can find someone he’ll trust to cut it. At the moment his hair stretches down towards his shoulders and will usually be tied back. He has light brown eyes, the left of which is marked by an old scar (which fortunately did not touch the eyeball itself).

【Personality】

The word that probably defines Húrin best is ‘traditional’ – this being in the context of a Valenwood born Bosmer. Having been born in an old remote community, he adheres strictly to the Green Pact and other Bosmer traditions. This includes being completely carnivorous and, much to the disdain of others not familiar with the tradition, cannibalistic. Indeed even after leaving Valenwood he still continues to respect the green and avoids harming vegetation. He also continues to pray to the Forest God Y’ffre on at least a daily basis. Whilst he is very devout himself, he does not begrudge others for having different (and sometimes opposing) beliefs; as long as he is shown respect he will return it. Whilst his values are somewhat unorthodox to most citizens of Tamriel, he is in general a very moral and ethical person who strives to avoid conflict with others when possible, and who will defend the vulnerable if he is able.

In regards to his social aspects, he has been described as some as ‘reserved’. But in truth this only because he tends to live a solitary life, not because he is in anyway shy or unable to speak to others. Indeed, when he does interact with others he is usually quite confident and willing to speak his mind, almost with too much honesty at times. The only reason he lives a solitary life is because he chooses not to live in stone towns and villages, preferring to be close to nature; as such he simply comes across less people.

【History】
Húrin was born into the small community of Halfmoon Grove, in the North-East of Valenwood. He was the only child of Erlian and Aravis, two Bosmer which had been trying desperately for years to conceive a child. Being only a few decades old, Húrin was of course born under the rule of the Aldmeri Dominion. For the early part of his life he thought little of this, with politics having a negligible effect in the remote corner of the forest in which he lived. He often heard elders and merchants moaning and whispering about how the High Elves seemed to treat them like lesser beings, but never though much of it. The only time he ever even saw the Dominion was when they marched through the area on their way to the borders; he would sit silently in the trees and watch as the golden armies seeped through the trees like a stream.

Instead of an Aldmeri dominated youth, Húrin actually was brought up in a very traditional Bosmer way. His father and mother were both rangers, and so he was taught from a young age how to use a bow, track, hunt and generally survive the wild. Religion actually played a massive part in his life, with his family and community teaching him to worship Y'ffre (the God of the Forest) and honour the Green Pact made by the Bosmer to their God. For those that do not know of the Green Pact, it is an Oath which prohibits the harming of vegetation and is basically the opposite of veganism. Because of this Húrin will for example only use weapons which he himself has crafted from the corpses of his prey.

For most of his life, even into his twenties, Húrin simply led the life of a simple ranger. Most days would be spent hunting for food to eat that very day, or to gather supplies that the crafter’s requested, or to track down a local threat (be bandits or monsters). Risks were always moderated, and he never set out on a task which he though he couldn’t handle with ease. For example if there were four bandits nearby, he would take five friends with him to ensure the odds were in his favour. During this quiet part of his life he also met his fiancé, Yasmin. She was slightly younger than him but her personality and wit definitely trumped his own. Living in such a small community it was easy for them to fall so deeply in love and become engaged so quickly; it wasn’t like there was much competition.

It wasn’t until about seven years ago, just prior to what should have been his and Yasmin’s wedding, that his life suddenly changed. Following the news that a neighbouring community had recently had an incident with Thalmor officials, Húrin and a couple of his kinsmen went to investigate. Upon arriving they were told by the villagers that a group of Altmer had been caught chopping down sacred trees in the local area and were scared off repeatedly. Although the village had at that point no issue with the Dominion, they refused to allow such desecration to occur. Húrin and his kinsmen were sympathetic towards them but did not think too much of the incident, as was the case with many of the villagers, and decided to stay a few nights in good spirit. It was on the second night of staying here however that Húrin discovered just how ruthless the Thalmor could be. Angered by the community’s disobedience, the Thalmor sent troops and agents to purge the village. Húrin was awakened during the middle of the night to the sounds of screaming, the crackling of spells and the roar of fire. He desperately tried to aid in the defence of the village, killing many of the attackers, but ultimately realised that it was a lost cause and fled – something which he still feels shame for doing.

Upon returning to Halfmoon Grove, he told everyone what had happened and informed the family of his kinsmen that they had perished. There were few who did not believe him, but the Grove did not know how to react. They certainly could not pose any sort of threat to the Thalmor. Húrin tried to convince his friends and family to flee the Dominion, fearing that they too might one day be purged. When they refused he suggested that if Thalmor present at the purge recognised him, that the Grove would likely be attacked too, but his family insisted that they could hide and protect him. Feeling like he had no other choice, Húrin left in the middle of the night without saying farewells and fled to Cyrodiil; he would not remain and risk putting those he loved in danger.

Since fleeing to Cyrodiil Húrin has remained a hunter, but has become somewhat nomadic. He frequently tries to get in touch with other Bosmer and will warn anyone willing to listen what the Dominion do to those beneath them.

【Skills and Abilities】
Húrin is first and foremost a ranger. In fact he is very much the typical archetype of a bow wielding Wood Elf, as cliché and boring as that might sound. He is a very talented archer, stemming from both years of experience and from an inherit knack common to his race. He isn’t the best archer in the world, but he is good enough to move and shoot without missing every shot. The fact that he has relied on his archery on a daily basis to keep himself fed should be somewhat of a testament to his ability. As an extension of this he has also learned how to make bow and arrows, a skill which he uses both for survival and occasionally income.

Húrin is a very good hunter, able to track and kill a variety of targets. This of course tends to mean animals and beasts, but has occasionally meant bandits. Whilst he was trained to track and hunt using traditional methods (by following tracks, following scents, leaving bait, etc.), he compliments is hunting abilities with is novice Illusion magic. For example he uses a weak chameleon spell to help him hide, and can use a somewhat weaker and unorthodox version of clairvoyance to follow tracks beyond his non-magical ability. As per the Green Pact, Húrin will make use of as much of the corpse as he can after killing his prey.

Due to taking part in the Rite of Theft growing up, Húrin is a mildly capable thief. He can pick-pocket the less perceptive of people, although his lock-picking skills are pretty awful.

【Weapons/Tools and Magic】
Weapons/Tools/Armour
Húrin usually makes his own bow and arrows, and the ones he is using at current is no exception. He uses a longbow fashioned out of the bones of a bear and the sinews of a deer. Because of the way he has treated and maintained the bow however, one could easily mistake it for a usual light-coloured wooden bow. Whilst he does collect any salvageable arrows he comes across, most of his arrows are made by him using a combination of bone, flint and feathers. He also carries with him a small steel carving knife which he brought off a merchant, but this is used more for skinning and the like rather than combat.

Húrin wear a set of rough leather armour (which looks very similar to this). The outfit consists of: plain leather boots, gloves and trousers; a black woollen shirt (not chainmail like in the pic); an armless leather chest piece; a leather neckguard and hood; and assortment of pouches and a small satchel. He has purchased or found all of this armour over time since leaving Valenwood, having discarded his previous armour in the hopes of attracting less attention from racist humans. Whilst his crafting skills don’t stretch too well into the business of cloth making and smithing, he knows enough to maintain his armour and repair small damages. As he scavenges as much as he can off corpses, his pouches and bag are often filled with a variety of organic materials which have varying uses.

Magical Spells
Chameleon – Húrin is capable of using a fairly weak Chameleon spell to help him blend into his surroundings. He is still very much visible but he won’t draw the eye as much and it does make it easier for him to sneak around.
Tracking Clairvoyance – When Húrin begins to lose tracks, he can use this spell to help keep him on the right path. However not only does this require a fair bit of focus and energy to upkeep, it can sometimes not take him to the intended target. Unlike Heroes such as the Dragonborn, he certainly cannot use this spell to find any objective nor will he ever be.
