The fayth are humans who willingly had their souls sealed in statues in a state of dreaming in Final Fantasy X. Their powers allow a summoner to coalesce the power of pyreflies to create physical forms from the fayth's dream, called aeons, or other magical phenomena.
Hello, I am Faythe (like “fayth” plus an “e”, just because). FFX was an important game to me in my formative preteen years, but it isn't my favorite game (or even FF game; FFXII was my favorite of the series though it wasn't very popular). I've long moved on from most JRPGs, but the name I've so uncreatively adopted has stuck. And there it is.
I’m an experienced, advanced-level roleplayer who’s been doing this since I was thirteen. I was formerly on other sites under the same username, but decided to quit due to personal reasons for a period of time. But now I’m back, and ready to write. I prefer 1x1s to group writing since 1x1s tend to be more flexible posting time-wise. But, I do enjoy group roleplays from time to time. Roleplaying to me is strictly a hobby, so when it starts to feel like a job is when I usually have to bid a story adieu. I suffer from clinical anxiety about the most irrational things, which sometimes may require a period of self-care during which I will be (usually) unable to post. I have a rough schedule along with a wonderful family both of which are my priorities, which may also interfere with consistent posting. I tend to be upfront about all this with those I write with, so here it is on my bio as well. Anyway, I’m always open to a roleplay request (unless I’m full for that time), so don’t hesitate.
Once in an age long past, the mighty kings of Yrvos negotiated an agreement with the fearsome Dragonkin of the mountains: That they shall render aid to, and protect the people of Yrvos in times of need, and in return the Yrvosian army would ensure that none would enter the Dragonkin's territory or do harm to any dragon. The Dragonkin were few; but they were terrifying beasts - and intelligent - each able to assume the form of a mortal person. And so it was for a thousand years: No other kingdom dared to encroach upon Yrvosian lands, for fear that their own lands might be set alight, their people decimated in retribution. They feared the Yrvosian riders - formidable warriors chosen from the bravest and most skilled of men who fought alongside the Dragonkin, every man and dragon sharing an unbreakable bond. The old kings did not wish to expand their reach, merely to protect what they already had.
That was until the high dragon named Svarn betrayed his own. Unwilling to submit to the Yrvosian treaty, he sought out the wicked Cathal, king of Emthor, who had been eyeing Yrvosian lands since his ascension. He told the king of the bloodthirsty First Dragon, and how he could bind it with a stolen artefact and an ancient drakespell. And so the king arranged for himself and his finest warriors to accompany Svarn to the cave of the First Dragon. But once Svarn had resurrected the dragon and bound it to the king's will, Cathal and his men turned upon Svarn and slew him. With the power of the First Dragon, Cathal laid siege upon Yrvos. His soldiers - while not dragons themselves - became imbued with dragon-like abilities, against whom the ordinary soldiers of Yrvos were no match. Then came the Yrvosian riders, who fought the Emthorians and their mad, accursed beast until their very last. And when the First Dragon was finally felled, the realm lay in fiery ruins. Both Yrvos and Emthor had been destroyed. Upon Cathal's dying breath, where he declared his return would be in a "rain of fire and blood", the soul of the First Dragon entered his body, which disintegrated into a red mist and returned to the artefact. The artefact itself was lost to time.
Time passed, and survivors rebuilt. A new kingdom flourished where Yrvos and Emthor had once stood. And upon the site where the artefact was lost, a quaint village. Stories of dragons and drakesmagic had become myth, tales told to children and sung of in taverns. A simple villager tending his crops one summer morning unearths a strange rock - cold to the touch and blood red in hue. Believing it to be a rare gem, he puts it up for sale in the village market. You are another villager, browsing the market's wares when you see the rock. But when you pick it up, it immediately glows and becomes hot - almost unbearably so - in the palm of your hand. Frightened but curious, you purchase the rock and bring it home, placing it on your worn wooden dresser and forgetting all about it. But as soon as you have gone to bed for the night, a sharp, loud knock comes to your door. You open it in a sleep-addled haze and see a cloaked stranger, who demands you let them in...
Basically, you will play the villager who has ties (but yet unknown) to Cathal/The First Dragon. I will play the stranger at your door - a surviving member of the Dragonkin and descendant of Svarn with questionable intentions - and various other minor characters you will meet along your journey. In addition to playing my character/s, I will serve as a "DM" of sorts, guiding you on your quest to restore the influence of dragons to the realm. Whether or not that is a good idea still remains to be seen, as is whether your character chooses the path of good or evil. Prepare for prompts such as "you hear a voice in your head whispering.../you have acquired the power of fire..." and similar. I will likely write in a combination of second and third person. This is the first time I'm trying something like this, so bear with me. Anything written here may be altered at my discretion.
Partner Requirements/Further Information:
- 18+ only. This roleplay contains dark and gritty themes unsuitable for those younger. - I require of my partner an advanced writing standard, the ability to produce detailed, lengthy posts if necessary (some situations may call for shorter posts), and the ability to contribute ideas in OOC. - Patience; I have a busy life and my posting frequency may range from once every few days to a week or more. Demanding I post and harassing me for posts will result in an immediate drop. - Understanding; if I should no longer be interested or think things aren't working out, for you to not take it personal once I let you know (even if we've just started). - This story will take place through PMs. - Romance is not a vital part of this story, but there is the possibility for it. Whether or not my initial character takes to yours will be dependent on story progression, but there will also be other characters you will eventually encounter. There is also the possibility of character death on my part (again, dependent on story progression). - If you are interested in embarking on this adventure with me, PM me with a writing sample (or several). I will only be accepting one partner for this story. It would also help immensely if you already had ideas in mind to contribute.
I am Faythe. I am a wanderer formerly from a far off place called Iwaku bored hobbyist writer looking for good storytimes. I consider myself an advanced writer, producing an upwards of three paragraphs per post, though I do dabble in the high casual area as well. Before we begin, let's take a gander at the commandments requirements (I realize these might make me seem like a massive ass, but they are necessary I assure you. I will also assure you that I am actually quite warm and fuzzy).
- Thou shalt be over 18 years old. Absolutely no exceptions. Ideally, thou shalt be over 21 years old.
- Thou shalt consider thyself at least high casual in writing standard. Thou shalt have sound knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Thou shalt enjoy writing descriptively and creatively, in addition to writing at least three sizeable paragraphs per post.
- Thou shalt not ride my ass for posts. Thou shalt understand that I am a busy individual to whom writing is a side chick. Just because I am currently online doesn't mean I have to respond at that instant. I will respond when I wish, and you can respond when you wish, whether it be in a day or a week. (But Faythe, what if I'm not sure if you've disappeared or not? Fear not, I will constantly run my mouth in OOC so you know I'm still alive.) Fair warning for real, though: Hitting me with a "are you there? can you reply plz?" after one day is the best way to piss me off. The exception to this is if I haven't replied in say, two weeks. You may then hit me with a gentle reminder, because sometimes I am only human and forget things because I'm old af.
- Thou shalt play minor characters as the plot requires.
- Thou shalt use realistic illustrations or photographs for character representation, though I'd prefer we not use any pictures at all. Textual description is really all I need. Similarly, I am not very fond of CSes unless there is a good reason for making one.
- Thou shalt not bitch and moan or attempt to murder me if I decide to drop our story, even if it is at its earliest stages. Sometimes the muse just doesn't come through and I'd rather let you know than feed you a bunch of shitty posts and fingers crossed, maybe they'll think I'm awful and stop replying. I will always be polite, and I will always have both of our best interests in mind.
- Thou shalt play characters who have some backbone. I refuse to play domineering savage to some whiny, terrified brat of a character whose only dark desire is to be whipped into obedience. There's dungeon pr0n other places for that.
- Thou shalt not let me shoulder the plot by myself.
- Faythe is a twentysomething, perpetually anxiety-ridden female degenerate.
- Faythe plays female and male characters. Only play a particular gender? Well, I personally find that sorta inflexible, but you're in luck! Take your happy pick, I'll play the other one. Hell, I'll play multiple characters if the plot allows for a larger cast.
- Faythe usually does MxF and MxM romantic and non-romantic pairings (though, note that if we do MxM we'll be having none of that seme/uke bullshit). If I really like you, FxF can be discussed. I do not do instamance (hello, is it me you're looking for?). Personally I find that some stories work better with a solid friendship between characters, but as the occasional sucker for romantic storytelling I am most certainly not opposed to a little lurve.
- Faythe enjoys the following themes (among others) in her tales: Angst, tragedy, action, violence, gore, heartbreak, shades of gray morality, grit, realism (depending on context/setting). Needless to say I don't do the heartwarming, Hallmark movie stuff unless you maybe buy me three dozen donuts (don't forget the chocolate sprinkles).
You can combine any of the below mentioned. For example: Sci-fi + horror = something like Dead Space, and so on.
Note that I only play original characters in fandom roleplays. Also, I am unlikely to accept fandom roleplays unless you already have a plot raring to go (and a good plot at that). While I am a massive fan of the below franchises, I'd much rather roleplay in an original universe of my own.
- Mass Effect - Dragon Age - Star Wars: The Old Republic - Criminal Minds - Life Is Strange
Soooo yeah, PM me if you survived all that bs and want to whip something up for the new year. I'd rather you not post here because I tend to forget about threads. Also, if you don't receive a response please don't get riled up; it's likely I'm either full on roleplays or don't think our writing styles would really be compatible. I don't have much time to write, so I'm unfortunately going to have to be picky.
